  • Tall Double Stack Train of 45x2 Set of Containers towed by a Single 3100 Horse Powered ALCo WDG3A left me in total surprise. The power of an ALCo can never be underestimated, it can really do wonders. Double Stack Container train hauled by a single ALCo furiously chugs through Taj Nagar on the Rewari - Delhi Cantonment Section heading towards Gurgaon Concor Container Depot hauling Tons and tons of metal all alone.
    Route followed by trains from NCR (Gurgaon) is Rewari ,Ringus, Phulera, Ajmer, Palanpur, Samakhiali, Gandhidham, Mundra Port and Pipavav Port.
    INDIA'S FIRST double-stack train was flagged off by former Minister of Railways Laloo Prasad Yadav on March 23 2006. Starting from the Kanakpura Inland Container Depot near Jaipur in Rajasthan, the train ran to the Arabian Sea port of Pipavav in Gujarat, a distance of 950 km. THE route was later extended up to Gurgaon in Haryana.
    Train length is currently limited to 45 wagons by the length of passing loops, equivalent to 180TEUs. Maximum speed is 75 KPH. At present the service can only accepts 8ft 6in boxes.
    CONCOR : Container Corporation of India ltd.
    Location : Taj Nagar, Haryana State, Northern Railways.

    That statement "The power of an ALCo can never be underestimated, it can really do wonders ." A man doing hard labour, that's the sound of an ALCo. It's more humane as a machine

    I cant imagine a single 3300 HP loco hauling this many fully loaded containers and even more importantly braking with that much weight pushing the loco on a downhill. My guess is that it is empties returning to the depot.

    • @RailRide
      @RailRide Před 9 lety +1

      avrrailfan Also, US railroads use deep-well cars that carry the lower container close to the rails. These are essentially modified flatcars, which is why they appear so tall. India is apparently the only double-stack operator that does it this way.

    1:30 those containers are taller than the vintage locomotive! I like its engine sound!
    Double stack may seem normal and safe in America, but in India, it looks cool and Dangerous (the flat cars may not be able to hold it much longer, and it may not fit in many areas!)
    3:29 why do freight trains in India still have brake vans? No other country uses them regularly anymore!

    • @TheRailzone
      @TheRailzone  Před 8 lety

      Brake vans are still used during an Emergency to stop the train.

    • @SrijitSen1
      @SrijitSen1 Před 7 lety +7

      In most other parts of the world including USA, China, UK, Germany and other developed countries all freight trains run on 1435mm, while in India freight trains run on 1676mm which is wider, so practically speaking trains in India are more stable even with double stack, since container size remains constant to comply with norms of other countries of the world.

    • @grandkai1923

      MrBnsftrain Because of the broad gauge used in India and Pakistan, trains can carry standard shipping containers double-stacked on standard flat wagons, which is more economical than single containers, but standard gauge railways in North America and elsewhere must use special double-stack cars or well wagons to lower the center of gravity and reduce the loading gauge.[original research?][citation needed] Indian Railways is able to carry containers double-stacked on standard flat wagons at 100 km/h (62 mph)

But don't worry they are borrowing trillions from the Rothschild Bankers at compound interest to keep this unsustainable financial catastrophe going a little longer.
