I was listening back in 1979 and I'm still listening today. Who's with me?
Hell Yea BroTHA!!!

Born 83 this song slap me back to 79 lol
Everyone is
That unmistakable Chic bassline. This song will never get old. 🪩⭐️
their bassline is totally addicting, honey!
Bass rules.
The guitar as well - he called it 'chop guitar' (up and down motion). You can hear it everywhere from this era of music and you know who will be playing it.
Apparently Bernie was inspired by the bassline on the song "love is the drug" by Roxy Music.
Instantly, you know it's CHIC. I can name that tune in one note. LOL
Man that bass is absolutely stunning
I SAY LET'S HAVE A HOUSE PARTY BUT ONLY WITH OLD SKOOL MUSIC LIKE THIS.
Boy, that bassline could melt an iceberg in a blink!
Angelo Melville ..... that’s Bernard for you... RIP Brother.❤️
It's not as jaw-dropping and flashy as "Everybody Dance" (not much is!) but it is carving a groove so deep you can't escape. Tony Thompson's heavy drumming, Sammy Figueroa's sensational tubular bells, heck even the string section add to the rhythm, but Bernard Edwards's bass drives this song!
Everytime somebody plays that song, an iceberg melts :(
Nile Rodgers wrote arrangements that made everyone crush it....and yes, the bass did crush it. The bells....the horns riff....the strings sway, All just really well done. Nile was like a 24 year old Quincy Jones.
@@JDChicago Bernard Edwards is jointly listed on all of Chic's records as composer, arranger, and producer along with Nile Rodgers.
Niles Rodgers is a genius, Bernard Edwards was amazing, and this band simply stood the test of time. Disco gets a bad wrap but this is literally one of the best songs ever!
He also gave Madonna her biggest album Like a Virgin as producer, arranger, songwriter. She made a lot of money from that album. She said he was a genius ....
Those that give it the wrap are jealous of not being there at the time. It was magical.
Whut? I thought everyone loves disco
Hands down Chic's records are some of the best produced records ever.
The Women of the 1970's were by far the Most beautiful Women of my lifetime... Visions of Loveliness 😍
Exactly they were far finer for some reason maybe it's the home cooked foods instead of processed foods of today.
Thank u 😅🎉
Bring back perms and curly hair.
I agree. They certainly had decent dress codes and their performances were all about pouring their enereg into the songs and music.
.
They were beautiful with or without makeup.
Bernard Edwards... He was a bassist who created and played absurdly brilliant Bass lines! It's a shame he passed away so soon... But so long after his departure, hearing his mighty bass is simply unmistakable! Rest in peace, master!
The man was a bass god!
Yea , savage bass!
Bernard, and Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson were probably the best.
@@Jgeneraledger23 Jack Bruce, John Entwistle?
@@Jgeneraledger23 Louis Johnson*, George played guitar. But I agree, those two (Edwards and Johnson) are just absolute MONSTERS on bass. I feel like I get more impressed every time I hear one of their songs.
I don’t care what anyone says: Disco is one of the most beautiful music forms, ever.
The 80s: _Lived ‘em. Loved ‘em. Miss ‘em._
OMG K. You just hit a homerun with those comments 🎯🎯

I fully agree with your first part about beautiful classic disco. But why do you praise the 80s instead of the 70's shown above? Disco getting bashed and shunned was what happened in the industry and society in the 1980's.
@@bobdavis4848 it's no different than how really good 80s or early 2000s Hip-Hop gets claimed as 90s all the time.
I am still here in 2024..they don't make music like this anymore
05/31/2024 Friday - trying to get to 5pm here at the office. This song DEFINITELY helps!

You should listen to: Laura Branigan - I'm Not the Only One (1983) 🌹
I am 40, my good friends are 35 and 36 and this type of music is our favorite!

Baddest baseline in the '70s. Still the baddest baseline in 2024.
Bernard Edwards is arguably the greatest Bassist that ever lived. Mad respect Brother. ✊🏿💪🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Can't argue with that.. I give a shout out for legendary James Jamerson
And Larry Graham (Graham Central Station)
Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson), Marcus Miller, Willie Weeks, Ronnie Baker, list goes on and on
I heard people say the same about Slave's Mark Adams. Many of Slave's songs you can hear that base out front.
Louis Johnson?
As my mom once told me “you know, your father and I grew up in a time when music was so innovative, exciting and new (1960’s-1970’s).” I have to agree. Today’s music can’t hold a candle to what was played back in the day.
E década de 80 também, maravilhosa

Whos here after Madonnas Celebration Tour?! She took a excerpt of this song into her Holiday number and it was just awesome.
Disco is still alive
It sure is 🕺💃🪩
Hell yea, this song has it all soulful groovin ass bass line, vocals, cool vibes and violins, I'm glad my folks had great taste in music, this was a disco symphony!!!❤❤❤
An absolute classic. The bass on this is unbelievable.
Bernard played with such panache and clarity ! Made it look easy.
@@stephenbennett1643 I was wondering if this was Bernard Edwards or Leon Silvers who played Bass for a lot of Solars in house bands
@@haroldbrooks4235 Bernard Edwards..100%
Bernard was one of the best! John Taylor from Duran Duran was influenced by him. Listen to the bass line in Rio by Duran Duran.
Never took any real notice of Bernard until one day I heard him on an isolated track. Then I had to go back & listen to all his stuff. @@HD-er2cq

How is that possoble... it's pure nostalgia & appreciation for the music for me. ❤
Damn I was only 2 years old
Yo Bernard Edwards (rip) is killing that bass over there!!!!
True That*******
mookey-- ya,,,,,, he sure is,,,, very smooth bass lines throughout the whole song. love his style, very smooth and crafty.
If he'd never played on another song besides this and Everybody Dance, Bernard Edwards would still be one of the greats. Then he lays down one of the top bass lines of all time in Good Times. Legend!
Yeah, this was popular back in 1979, when I was 13 yrs.old, and I listened to it then, and can still appreciate it now. I'm saving it for my CZcams music videos collection.
Wow, what a song...memories.
The funkiest band to ever be associated with disco music!
That bassline is just MEANNNNN. Smooth and rumbbbly.

They're not there already?
Nah, we need a black American R&B and rap hall of fame.

You couldn't get a more perfect name for this band .
It was bernard who suggested the name chic and the rest is history.
That "Wedding Bells"sound is amazing....
I've listened to it a thousand times and appreciated musically the tubular bells bit, but it's only after reading your wedding bells comment that the penny has properly dropped, Duh....
It's really astounding how good this music is, even after listening to it a thousand times.
Yes . I agree!
I can’t get enough of this song RI P to those who died from this group the one on bass guitar and the drummer who both died in their forties.

Disco2000
Two MASTERS of the Art Form : Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards .
For sure but everyone was on fire: Tony Thompson with that heavy drum sound, Rob Sabino's sparkling piano, Raymond Jones on electric piano, Sammy Figueroa completely selling the choice of tubular bells, even the Chic strings cutting it up. A supergroup in every sense.
Think about it: two of the world's great players of bass guitar and spare guitar in one band!
