I am still here in 2024..they don't make music like this anymore
05/31/2024 Friday - trying to get to 5pm here at the office. This song DEFINITELY helps!
I SAY LET'S HAVE A HOUSE PARTY BUT ONLY WITH OLD SKOOL MUSIC LIKE THIS.
Hands down Chic's records are some of the best produced records ever.
I was listening back in 1979 and I'm still listening today. Who's with me?
Hell Yea BroTHA!!!
🙋♂️😁👏👏👏
Present Feb, 2024
Born 83 this song slap me back to 79 lol
Everyone is
Man that bass is absolutely stunning
who is here for this 2024
Me
And into infinity ♾️ keep it Going 😊😅🎉🎉😂
This song is totally awesome. ❤
You simply cannot beat old songs ❤
You should listen to: Laura Branigan - I'm Not the Only One (1983) 🌹
I am 40, my good friends are 35 and 36 and this type of music is our favorite!
That unmistakable Chic bassline. This song will never get old. 🪩⭐️
their bassline is totally addicting, honey!
Bass rules.
The guitar as well - he called it 'chop guitar' (up and down motion). You can hear it everywhere from this era of music and you know who will be playing it.
Apparently Bernie was inspired by the bassline on the song "love is the drug" by Roxy Music.
Instantly, you know it's CHIC. I can name that tune in one note. LOL
Niles Rodgers is a genius, Bernard Edwards was amazing, and this band simply stood the test of time. Disco gets a bad wrap but this is literally one of the best songs ever!
He also gave Madonna her biggest album Like a Virgin as producer, arranger, songwriter. She made a lot of money from that album. She said he was a genius ....
Those that give it the wrap are jealous of not being there at the time. It was magical.
Whut? I thought everyone loves disco
Chic is one of the greatest disco band ever
You should listen to: Laura Branigan - I'm Not the Only One (1983) 🌹
That's when the ladys back then were naturally beautiful, no tattoos. Miss those days!!

Bernard the bass King
Baddest baseline in the '70s. Still the baddest baseline in 2024.
I miss so much that time i use to go to Studio 54 in 1977 i was 18 years old ( 254th west 54 Street) friend of mine was a busboy in studio 54, what at memories.😢
Man they are doing it, clean, smooth, classy. This beat, the voices and style is everything!!!
I was born in 76 this is fire a classic hit!!
Disco is still alive
It sure is 🕺💃🪩
Hell yea, this song has it all soulful groovin ass bass line, vocals, cool vibes and violins, I'm glad my folks had great taste in music, this was a disco symphony!!!❤❤❤
Madonna did this song during her recent celebration tour to pay tribute to this magnificent band! It was so wild everyone there was like whoa 🤯 💕
The Fashion was 💯
The Women of the 1970's were by far the Most beautiful Women of my lifetime... Visions of Loveliness 😍
Exactly they were far finer for some reason maybe it's the home cooked foods instead of processed foods of today.
Thank u 😅🎉
Bring back perms and curly hair.
I agree. They certainly had decent dress codes and their performances were all about pouring their enereg into the songs and music.
.
They were beautiful with or without makeup.
Classic Disco 🩷
Nile Rogers and Tony Thompson the greatest rhythm section in the history of music.
Let's go back to the time where life was very simple
That "Wedding Bells"sound is amazing....
I've listened to it a thousand times and appreciated musically the tubular bells bit, but it's only after reading your wedding bells comment that the penny has properly dropped, Duh....
That’s Mr.Bernard Edwards - Superbad bassist.
Timeless music
Wow, this came out during my high school years! But as @The70sChick said, I am still listening today. CLASSIC!
The baseline is insane
70s music the best!
Whos here after Madonnas Celebration Tour?! She took a excerpt of this song into her Holiday number and it was just awesome.
Genius on bass! 👀
I was 14years old when this song came out almost 15years old this is when music was good i love all of their music i am 59 years young and I am still listing to this song in 2024
haha i'm only 34 been listening this song i can remember
Study da past to build da future
Stay Awesome Families
I was 13 in the glorious and spectacular year of 1977 when they released Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah) and I never stopped following them and buying their records!
Absolutely, 70sChick! The Chic sound will never leave us. Such great memories. Simpler times. Solid music that just made you feel good. And still does.
You should listen to: Laura Branigan - I'm Not the Only One (1983) 🌹
That bassline is just MEANNNNN. Smooth and rumbbbly.
You couldn't get a more perfect name for this band .
It was bernard who suggested the name chic and the rest is history.
I’m 43 and I love this song.
This BASSLINE doesn’t seem overly complex, yet there’s a genius to it, the way it’s written.
I don’t care what anyone says: Disco is one of the most beautiful music forms, ever.
The 80s: _Lived ‘em. Loved ‘em. Miss ‘em._
OMG K. You just hit a homerun with those comments 🎯🎯
Agree!
This beautiful classic just moves one's soul in the right direction 🥰🥰I grew up on this magical sound so grateful to have lived through this era of beautiful music this kind of music will never go out of style 🎯The lyrics that yank ur heartstrings for decades 💔💔 Real music with meaningful lyrics u can understand ❤❤ What a MASTERPIECE!!!!A trip down memory lane good ode days I was in my twenties carefree 😛😛🎊💥💃💚💖👌 70"s and the 80's were my best golden years 🥳🍾🔥🥰💯👌
I fully agree with your first part about beautiful classic disco. But why do you praise the 80s instead of the 70's shown above? Disco getting bashed and shunned was what happened in the industry and society in the 1980's.
@@bobdavis4848 it's no different than how really good 80s or early 2000s Hip-Hop gets claimed as 90s all the time.
As my mom once told me “you know, your father and I grew up in a time when music was so innovative, exciting and new (1960’s-1970’s).” I have to agree. Today’s music can’t hold a candle to what was played back in the day.
E década de 80 também, maravilhosa
Amen ❤😂
I grew up in the 60s And the 70s
That bass line!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bernie Edward’s was way ahead of his time 🛸👽
La basse est égale à Bernardin Edward.
Mort à la putaine de pneumonie.
I can't stop sobbing... I miss the 70s so, so much...
Agree....I feel the same
OMG Caelestii I missed the 70"s and 80's were my best golden years carefree 🎯💞🍷😛💥🎊🔥🥳😎 This beautiful classic just moves one's soul in the right direction 4SURE!!! The lyrics that yank ur heartstrings for decades 💕💕 Real music with meaningful lyrics u can understand 🎯💞💞Still listening how about June 27 2022
Nobody likes the 1970s.
I miss them and I wasn’t even alive.
@@Lzrdman91it's truly a magical time. A lit of things going on socially but WE made it happen 😢
Boy, that bassline could melt an iceberg in a blink!
Angelo Melville ..... that’s Bernard for you... RIP Brother.❤️
It's not as jaw-dropping and flashy as "Everybody Dance" (not much is!) but it is carving a groove so deep you can't escape. Tony Thompson's heavy drumming, Sammy Figueroa's sensational tubular bells, heck even the string section add to the rhythm, but Bernard Edwards's bass drives this song!
Everytime somebody plays that song, an iceberg melts :(
Nile Rodgers wrote arrangements that made everyone crush it....and yes, the bass did crush it. The bells....the horns riff....the strings sway, All just really well done. Nile was like a 24 year old Quincy Jones.
@@JDChicago Bernard Edwards is jointly listed on all of Chic's records as composer, arranger, and producer along with Nile Rodgers.
Love that bass!!!! What a. Banger!!!!
Dam right ❤
That baseline, those bells/chimes, those incredible voices - a truly unique and amazing song!
Can’t leave out them beautiful violin melodies 😊
CONCUR
Those are wedding bells 🔔
don't forget them HORNS, too (even though they seem to be missing the HORN SECTION here?)
The way the two women look at you... just the best. Classy, good looking, everyone got their clothes on. Wish I could go back to this music....
You, mean Alfa Anderson & Luci Martin. Chic' s true divas!
Bernard Edwards... He was a bassist who created and played absurdly brilliant Bass lines! It's a shame he passed away so soon... But so long after his departure, hearing his mighty bass is simply unmistakable! Rest in peace, master!
The man was a bass god!
Yea , savage bass!
Bernard, and Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson were probably the best.
@@Jgeneraledger23 Jack Bruce, John Entwistle?
@@Jgeneraledger23 Louis Johnson*, George played guitar. But I agree, those two (Edwards and Johnson) are just absolute MONSTERS on bass. I feel like I get more impressed every time I hear one of their songs.
What a classic
the bass is astonihingly AMAZING!!
Arguably the best disco band ever!
They had class
They had style
They had their own sound
They were CHIC!
Agree

They couldn't het into Studio 54 though... That motivated to start this band.. :)
@@chipperkeithmgbLolol...Right ..so sick of seeing everyone walking around like school desks from the 80s
Chic changed the game... Probably the most influential R&B group of all time. Chic was the right name for these badass' The look, the strings, mad hooks and b-lines. Elite music that will never be equalled and unlike a lot of music from this era, the Chic sound always stayed fresh.
Bernard Edwards was and stays one of the best bass Players in the world!!!!!
I always admired those ladies. They were so beautiful to me.
Talk about beautiful Lady Luck Tarot…Have a great weekend. What a fantastic band and a great song.
Those ladies were BEAUTIFUL. I said it 43 years ago and I say it today.

Bernard Edwards, what a genius !
I miss these days, glad I was a part of it 10-30-23
me too
The bassline in this song is divine, it comes close to perfection.
Greetings from a guy from 2000 who love Disco music!
You have great taste. Take it from my username: I lived through the seventies. I've had a lot of younger people tell me that they wished they grew up during that time too.
Disco2000
Nile and Bernard, did an Awesome Job on those STRING Arrangements. Music Arrangers take notes...I WANT YOUR LOVE is there best cut to me...here we are OVER 40 years later. and This song can be a Big Hit today. Just like it was in the Sumner of 1979.
Black women in the 70's were fire.
disco fused with Ochestra, simply took their music to unlimited heights
The funkiest band to ever be associated with disco music!
This song came out in 1978. Today is November 23, 2022 and I'm just NOW seeing the video for this song for the very first time. WTF?!?!
See? THIS is why CZcams is such a treasure to me and why I don't mind paying for their Premium subscription! CZcams has shown me awesome stuff that I SHOULD HAVE seen years ago! Just think... there used to be a time when music artist used to bitch about their music being put on CZcams. I really hope those music artists can truly appreciate how CZcams keeps them relevant.
Anyhoooo, I used to love this song when I was a kid. 'Twas nice hearing it again and learning that there's a video for it.
👏👏👏👏👏👏

Seeing in 2024
Is Bernie a human, or a magnificent being from a distant advanced civilization that's a million years ahead of Earthlings at bass playing? He was uniquely great.

Ancient-Advance civilization
That part!!
The violinists were ultra spectacular!!
Hes more than that...and no words can descibe...only feel

This song is fantastic and Chic is so classy. Have a great weekend.
I'm here for the Madonna's Holiday version of Celebration Tour 2023 :D
❤❤❤
Bernard Edwards's mastery over those thick bass strings was simply otherworldly. 👌
The violins really make this song stand out even better. And the Asian woman knows it. She's all smiles like "It's our turn now!" Excellent touch.
Oh, those strings were into it!
Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers : the two greatest geniuses of funk: one for the bass, the other for the groove. Thank you for all the happiness you gave us with your songs that will all go down in history
Could hit the mute button and watch that dude play that bass! Unreal talent. Rip
OMG I was a little girl loving this! Good old days . Too bad this generation will never know real music.
Bernard Edwards is arguably the greatest Bassist that ever lived. Mad respect Brother. ✊🏿💪🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Can't argue with that.. I give a shout out for legendary James Jamerson
And Larry Graham (Graham Central Station)
Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson), Marcus Miller, Willie Weeks, Ronnie Baker, list goes on and on
I heard people say the same about Slave's Mark Adams. Many of Slave's songs you can hear that base out front.
Louis Johnson?
Madonna mixed this song in Holiday during her The Celebration Tour, incredible and stunning match 👏🏻
Madonna sing this song in her Celebration Tour ❤❤❤
The late great Bernard Edwards on bass. One of my all-time favourites and influences 🎸

Nile Rodgers this was the best line-up and there has been many others that followed.
Two geniuses in one band. Bernard Edwards is almost without peer in this sort of bass playing. And then of course there's Nile Rodgers.
That bassist is insane!
No matter how hard you'd try, you wouldn't come close to the coolness of this gang.
Zero nudity
Zero swearing
100% awesomeness
Real Class - you don't see that any more.
There is nudity but you just cant see it
Recognize and testify. Real music that feels real good!
And 3 violins! Ha!
no need for any of that in music, just talent and grooooove and Chic have plenty of both.
Why can't they make soul music 🎶 like this these days ?!
Disco was one form of music that bought Black, Gay, Hispanic folks out on the dance floor and created a common bond of love for the music. The 70s and Early 80s were everything! That is until the big disease with the little name hit. I love Disco and the late 70s into the 80s was my entry into Adulthood. I’ll give back most of those years along with most of the 90s. Too much loss…

An absolute classic. The bass on this is unbelievable.

mookey-- ya,,,,,, he sure is,,,, very smooth bass lines throughout the whole song. love his style, very smooth and crafty.
If he'd never played on another song besides this and Everybody Dance, Bernard Edwards would still be one of the greats. Then he lays down one of the top bass lines of all time in Good Times. Legend!
Yeah, this was popular back in 1979, when I was 13 yrs.old, and I listened to it then, and can still appreciate it now. I'm saving it for my CZcams music videos collection.
Wow, what a song...memories.
Everyone who listened to this in the late 70's knew back then already that this was pure magic and it still is some 45 years later. It just gets to you time and time again when you listen it. So incredibly beautiful!
This stuff was everywhere when I was 6, 7, & seeped into subconscious even though I wasn't actively collecting albums or seeking out this music yet. Amazing how music and certain smells (like a campfire) take you right back.
