    Thanks for this video. Rowan, you’re my hero and I always show your clips to the kids I train, even though in this one you are really travelling a lot when faking one hand and then throwing the other hand (around minute 5). Keep up the good work !

    Fresh jersey! I’m from Panama! I know your friend from Warao-Marcos as he talks about you highly! I coach his team here in NYC! I appreciate all the work you have done with my home country of Panama! The growth there has been tremendous and I’m excited of what is yet to come! I’m going home in June for a tourney:)

    How do you get your arm so low on the forehand extension? When I try to get that low I end up feeling a tightness in my peck and it feels more akward. Great videos though, I show them to my college club every week!!

      Thank you! And I think the extension has just naturally evolved over time. The cue I coach is to drive the elbow back. The further the elbow is off the body allows for more extension!

    How do you learn to "see" the huck? I have those big throws in isolation, but I either never see the look in game until after the fact or I am not confident enough to throw it with a mark on me.

      Just start throwing it long all the time. And maybe tell your team mates on the line you're looking to put it long and their movements will be easier to read

    Do you warm your lower body up as well? You could injure yourself doing pivots with cold muscles.
    If not, it's important to note that one shouldn't do deep pivots due to the higher risk of an injury...
    I also noticed that your pivot foot is quite loose. In my warm-up, throwing deep, I try to be in game-mode already - is it important to still be loose tossing deep throws as well?

      I probably should more... good point! For stationary days like this I don't do much, but agree on the step-outs.

    Great Routine! thanks. I'm big fan of your videos. I Dont know, maybe because in this part of the world, in our local league there are a kind of orthodox of travel calls, when you fake backhand and throw forehand on minute 5:26 I can imagine someone yelling travel. Don´t blame me , I hate travel calls.

    No 25-yard hammers or scoobers? Like 10 each should be efficient considering how infrequently they are thrown. Still honorable mention throws imo

    • @RowanMcDonnell

      Agreed! They should (and will) get some attention!

      I know two people who don't know each other that throw high release i/o forehand as their primary warmup. If that's working, every other forehand will be just fine. I mean a really diggy 25 yard break, not (what I try to do) as a short break.

  • @TheReepe
    @TheReepe Před 4 lety +14

    Theoretically you're constantly travelling when you're faking.
    How is that according to the rules?

    • @RedShadesAreRed
      @RedShadesAreRed Před 4 lety +3

      As long as your pivot doesn't move from its location you're good. It should be noted that your entire foot is not necessarily your pivot, most commonly it will be the toes/ball of the foot that will be the pivot.

    • @RowanMcDonnell
      @RowanMcDonnell  Před 4 lety +8

      Can someone make a 'how to pivot' video for me??

    • @Michael_Deti
      @Michael_Deti Před 4 lety +1

      Technically bluecold is right, Rowan's foot moves a bit while faking. However it's not that often and in a game it would not give him any advantage..
      I guess everybody can still improve, right? ;)

  • @benjiblohm6379
    @benjiblohm6379 Před 4 lety +2

    You picked up your back foot when you were doing those backhand fakes to forehand. That's a travel man.
