  • Quick look at changing the oil and filters on a 2013 model year KTM Duke 690.
There are two oil filters (One either side of the engine) and two oil filter screens (One either side of the engine)
The engine only holds approximately 1.6 litres of oil so regular changes are essential.
Always warm up the engine before starting the work to help the oil run out freely.

If you first loosen the oil filters, the contaminated oil will fall onto your crankcase and then loosen your crankcase. if you do it the other way around, your old oil will fall into your empty crankcase and mix with your new clean oil.

I know this video is 5 years old but I have two small tips I wanted to share: 1. You should immerse your new filters in fresh motor oil before installing it. It ensures a better circulation when you start your motor the first time after the oil change
    2. Don't open screws with your torque wrench. You could damage it or at least loose your calibration.
Thanks for your video. I now know that I have to search for something I can use to prevent the oil from running all over the exhaust before openig all the screws 😅

you can use some sort of carton and hold it above the cat so it doesn't spill all over the place :)

Replace the filter covers ? Like buy brand new ones every oil change ? I think you should clarify that more
