  • Recorded live in April of 2022, this NF2 Meetup discussed facial reanimation surgery for patients with NF2-related schwannomatosis.
In this presentation, Dr. Leslie Kim provided background information on the anatomy and physiology of the facial nerve, presentation of facial paralysis, key principles, and treatment options for dynamic facial reanimation, including timing considerations and options for post-paralysis facial synkinesis.
Dr. Leslie Kim is a Clinical Associate Professor and Division Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Northwestern University Honors Program in Medical Education (BA, MD, MPH), and completed her residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Ohio State, followed by fellowship training in facial plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins. Her practice focuses exclusively on aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries of the face and neck, including a substantial tertiary care practice in facial reanimation.
