Depressurizing the fuel system

- When removing or separating fuel-related parts and components, it is important to first relieve the pressure. This includes: fuel pumps, fuel lines, fuel rails, fuel injectors, gas tanks, fuel filters, and more. Not doing so will result in flammable fuel spraying everywhere. This method should work for most fuel-injection systems.
Idk if you read these comments but your videos have single handedly enabled me to save thousands of dollars doing my own repairs. I am sincerely greatful for the skills you've passed on to me.
Glad the vids helped, Saxton. Why pay someone else when you can do it yourself? Thanks for watching!
Wanted to change a $13 fuel filter and didn't want to spend $85 for a mechanic to "diagnose" what I ask him to replace. This video is gold for this simple maintenance procedure. I wouldn't mess with it if mechanics wouldn't charge an arm and a leg to do simple things like replace a fuel filter.
Keep in mind you're paying for labor. Depending where your fuel filter is and how accessible it is, can make alot of time for the job which someone has to do so yeah they gotta get paid. Sometimes it might not even be what you thought your diagnosis was.
One of the best videos I’ve ever watched in my whole entire life.
If you're replacing a fuel pump, no need to open the hood. Disconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump and turn the engine over. Accomplishes exactly the same thing.
Some fuel pumps are located at the fuel tank under a rear seat, so are arguably not as easy to access as a fuse.
Would probably release all pressure in the system than just pulling the fuse. Safer if removing the fuel pump or filter to disconnect the wiring harness and crank engine a few times.
You are number one.,,👍
That is so simple! I can't believe that I never thought of it. Good work.
EXACTLY what I needed to see
Woo pig!
Could any electronics short from this? Always thought any electronic pulling, it was best to unplug the negative battery terminal
why would you run your injectors dry,why wouldnt you just open the fuel tank cap...?
Extremely helpful thank you
Thank you for this video
Thank you, William...hope the vid helped. Thanks for watching!
Grease Monkey you alright! Great video. Message received and understood. Have a great year.
very good video
Agree great video!
Thank you👍
Worked perfect thanks !
Very helpful 🙂
What if the car won’t start because I have to change the fuel pump. Does this method work for relieving the fuel pressure even if I can’t get the car to start!?
you can replace the fuel pump without depressurising the system it’s more for like near the engine bay or near the fuel rail system rather than the fuel tank; i replaced the fuel pump on my 04 Ford Falcon and didn’t need to take these precautionary steps
If the car won't start because of a bad fuel pump then the system is already depressurized👌
Does this work for High Pressure Direct Injection?
Perfect thank you
Nice video
Thanks, Dani...hope the vid was informative. Thanks for watching!
Can this cause damage to Fuel injection vehicles?
i am also ceruious
@@getoffmyaccount9803 I'm curious why you didn't pass grammar class. Lmao
Good stuff
Oh boy, that'll fix my carburetor mechanical fuel pump!
Haynes book also said this, however my 2016 Chevrolet Cruze does not have a fuel pump fuse or a fuel pump relay. I have been searching online how to depressurize the fuel system for my vehicle. Any suggestions?
Look for a Schrader valve connected to your fuel lines. It will have a cap covering it, bit looks like a tire valve stem beneath the cap (just like a bicycle tire has.
Regardless, your fuel pump requires electricity and there is a fuse connected to it somewhere.
Best of luck.
Amazing
What about when the engine won't start in the first place.
check the fuel pump fuse and relay, and reset the fuel pump switch thing. mine is behind the passenger kick panel
I have a unique situation of anyone has any tips before o spend a load of money at the mechanic. I have a 2012 Mazda that I replaced the fuel line where the engine is, and I got that all on and went to start it, I was happy because it started for a second then died down.. then I came to think I might’ve got water in it because the hose might have been moist still.. but was reading online and a bit of water shouldn’t do much anyways.. but I am trying to find out why my car doesn’t spit out gas from that line when I go to start it. Any tips?
Check your fuel pump fuse
Although I would never
agree with a novice attempt at fuel service.
This is best left in the
hands of a professional
facility and real experience. For good reasons. Just takes a second to be in a world
of hurt.
Indeed this in most situations is a fair
enough approach.
At the very least recognizing depressing
fuel pressure is important. Still no matter what the cost,
In reality better safe
than sorry.
So I’m the only person that has no sound
No, there is no sound. These videos work more like a manual, only with moving pictures. They are made so someone can follow along without having to hear over ambient noise. Plus, you can listen to your own music while following along. But mainly, I had oral cancer and some of my tongue has been "chopped off". Needless to say, listening to my narrative skills (or lack of), would be frustrating to any viewer. Hopefully the vid helped out. Thanks for watching, Kelvin!
That’s a 02 amp! Not 20
LOL...I should've noticed that the fuse was shot upside down! Thanks for watching, fixmybrokencondom!
Hope that was a smartass comment lol.
