@@TheHmuma It actually already is, but in the demo you can only randomize it. The UI makes it clear that it’ll be fully customizable in the full release though.
I still remember last time, all the comments were like "why doesn't the dev let us play new updates as they come out, they're killing the hype".
This is why. Too many indie games have failed from making mediocre first impressions, the smart move is letting it cook before serving.
The card descriptions need a glow up I had a stroke trying to understand what they mean

For me the surface level complexity is off putting. Like at one point NL didnt take a card because the description was too long and that’s exactly how i felt watching this lol

Even though this is basically the same game, I find the card descriptions so much more difficult to parse than in the first demo. I'm not even completely sure why that is but I definitely think the dev has to work on that a bit.
IWA made me think of the Iowa Test's of Basic Skills we used to have in elementary school.

Nothin' fulfills me more than a good Flux Gunslinger build where I'm on top of the world and then I have a single bad draw and get 90% of my health rocked in a single turn. unironically peak gameplay

There’s a game I have on iPhone called void tyrant, it’s a blackjack rogue like and it’s pretty fun too! It’s less balatro and more slay the spire tho

I don’t know how to explain it but this game is so much less fun to me than Balatro. It feels bad to play. Balatro is fun because it’s a game you can think about, but also can intuitively play by sticking to synergies. I just can’t get my head around the systems in this game. Am I stupid?
it's probably just personal preference the games are quite different
if you don't know what to do intuitively I'd either build around a card like scratch or try to get your deck to stand on 20 or 21 consistently
you could easily do that with a 10 and aces deck
No, I felt the same way. Watching him play and having like 20 different things thrown at him is probably the culprit and was more than enough to put me off of this game entirely. Am I not patient? Or am I just overwhelmed with so much knowledge that I simply don't care anymore? Maybe both. Either way, IMO the game is terribly designed at trying to show you how to play without throwing you in with so many different rules and effects you have no idea about.
Agreed - I think it's because so many of the cards are so complex. Having 4 keywords on a card seems like poor design. It should either not exist, be very rare or be very grokkable / elegant.
20:50 should have taken the 1 from hand and take 2(19-16)= 6 dmg and survive with 1 hp for another round
I'll stick to Balatro.
As a professional poker player and someone that has been enjoying the Balatro train immensely... I don't play blackjack and it just doesn't interest me at all. Even in a roguelike format.
I'll be skipping these but I hope everyone that does watch enjoys. You would think someone that is so deep in the weeds of gambling would still enjoy this, but for me BJ just seems tedious and boring.

This game is looking pretty good since the last release but two things: I'm sick of seeing cheap references in indie games, especially references to indie darlings. Enough, please. And second, Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers is an awful name. It's too long, you can't really shorten it, it's not funny, and it's embarrassing. I tell people I'm playing a game called Balatro, I don't want to tell people I'm playing a game called Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers.
