Well, that's Sunday evening viewing sorted for the next how many years. Dan, I wish you all the luck in the world with this incredible project. The passion you have for the building was just bouncing off you, through the screen and I'm sure I am not the only one who felt it. We wait with bated breath for the next instalment.
I was just thinking that myself,
The chateaux was waiting for you😊
You can say that again! EPIC!
What a wonderful project for him. He is such a hard worker…
Wow, I’m so excited for you, Dan. That is a stunning chateau even in its current state. Clearing up and exposing those magnificent stairs was a big job with such payoff. Well done!
Incredible. Not only are you bold enough to take this project on and have the vision and talent to restore it… you also are excellent at filming it. Thank you for taking us on this adventure.
Dan, your boundless energy and vision will serve you well. I have no doubt that you will complete this project, as well as the farmhouse. I worry about you having the time to split yourself between so many projects, feeding family relationships and being able to also sleep and eat. I am behind you 100%, and wish you all the best.
cannot wait to see what you do with this beautiful building watching you from Jackson Mississippi oh by the way love your cooking❤
He's the Energiser Bunny! He keeps going & going & going!
you should never support illegal builders or their work
Dan. Just incredible. This deserves your own Grand designs show and more. Has to be the most ambitious chateaux project on YT. I am sure you will have thousands of followers all wanting to help in some way.
Dan, I remember watching a vlog when you Annalise and the boys were looking around this fabulous chateau. Congratulations, I know you will restore it to an exceptional quality, hopefully we will see a Dan the man runway in the garden , taking you on an adventure that any children would enjoy, never mind coco channel. I will be glued watching your journey restoring this beautiful place, I agree with other comments regarding workaways or volunteers that can help you, each day you have a plan of what you would like to tackle that day, it will be a fantastic home in time. Be careful and enjoy what you do. Lots of love Dan and your lovely family xxxx
@DawnRudd which episode was that?
CZcams gave it to me earlier this week and realized that was where I had see it before. About a year ago, or more. Dan was still working on the kitchen.
It was episode 18 before the dailies Over a year ago, sad exploring an abandoned chateau. Best I can do.
Episode 18 was showing the family the château.
Dan and Annelise split about 6 months ago.
I have never seen a person so unaffected by the concept and the prospects of hard work. Dan, you are just amazing.
Hello 👋how’re you doing?
The evolving sophistication of your filming and editing is such a credit to you Dan. Your boundless energy is inspiring !
So looking forward to this new chapter with certainty that your channel is going to explode.
Bravo !!
Thank you for posting this
OH DAN YOUR THE MAN TO DO THE JOB. I cannot imagine these lovely castles being lost forever. So I am very pleased people are dedicated to restoring and bringing back the grandeur amazing buildings.
Dan, I think you’re crazy and brave, but when a person has a vision nothing should hold them back.
I’m so looking forward to following your progress.
Thank you for posting this
I think he's crazy too. But he's been looking at it for 2 years, so he says. That gives me confidence he's worked it all out. I assume he's had it surveyed and knows the walls are sound. Although I'd guess the top 2 or 3 meters will need re-doing
Wow! Between you and Martijn redoing his stone cottage in the Alps, my Sundays are now booked for the foreseeable future! Amazing project Dan. How exciting is this…and sure your two boys will learn lots as they grow with it too! Suggest taking a picture of them in front of the château every month to document this journey as you, the château and they will rise to the task!
Nancy I have been watching Martijn also. Isn't it wonderful to see the rebuilding of a home. Martijn is doing a fantastic job and Dan will do a great job too 😊👍👍
I agree Nancy. I, too, watch Martijn and now Dan. So exciting!
Same here! Martijn is amazing! And Dan is also. Both hard grafters that enjoy working with their hands to create beautiful handiwork and to attain their dreams.
Moi aussi je regarde Martijn Doolard... mon Héros 🙋♀️💕
Oh yes i look forward to martijn every week. Between these 2 and country life vlog and the Alaska one it’s any wonder we get not much done here
Is there anything Dan can't do? Obviously not. This man never fails to impress and amaze us. I am so excited for this new "project". Understatement of the century, btw.
The patience it takes to clear the overgrown greenery and Dan did it all by himself. It’s so satisfying to watch.
OK, this seals it: you're officially crazy. But also crazy enough to pull it off. What a beautiful building. Love the symmetry and wonderful details everywhere one looks. What a fairy tale of a chateau and you obviously love her. She's fallen into great hands. So happy we get to share the adventure.
Elisabeth you said right, "officially crazy." but Dan will get it done😊👍👍😊
I'm the kind of person who sees a derelict property and can envision a glorious renovation, but you've floored me with this venture, Dan, especially when you say, "A long journey tackled by one man."
The beginning of your vlog was incredibly moving. Many see the history as related to Coco and that's the beautiful part, absolutely. However, with your share of the tombstone I was able to finally search successfully for your chateau and see some of the pictures you referenced. And to see the children that stayed there post the holocaust, broke my heart. Your chateau has such incredible history and I'm in awe of the task before you... grateful the beauty AND the history will be made visible once more. Stay the course, you've a fleet of viewers hooked to your every post now. (PS: I even make sure to watch every advertisement all the way through because I know it'll bump your numbers up lol) God bless.
Coco Was an antisemite
Since the first video CZcams introduced me to this channel, I've hit the Like button even before watching the video! Then when I found out that he makes money if I watched th ad's, I do that too! An Amazing Human Being!💝Never stops, Never discouraged!💓
Just so you know, the ads only need to be watched for 30 seconds to count for him... so for the really long ones you don't need to watch the whole thing 😉
@@LaughingInTiny Thanks I didn't know that. I usually use the time to go get a drink or something to eat or bathroom break.
I am unable to find any old photos. My searches seem to be overwhelmed by photos of Chaumont-sur-Loire, and whilst very pretty, not what I am looking for. Would be great if Dan could show some of these photos he has found for us to get an idea of the final vision and what it once was.
Congratulations Dan on finding a true diamond in the rough. It takes the energy and vision of someone like yourself to bring a chateau in this state back to its former glory. I wish you all the luck and thank you for taking us along for the adventure. 👏
I looked up the history of your chateau and I'm so proud of you saving this old girl! She has such a historical importance! I know you are determined to get her back to her old self! ❤️
Monica what is the name of Dan's Chateau? thanks
Monica Nicole do you mind sharing a link to an English written account of the history of this chateau? I've only found one French spoken video which might as well be Greek to me. It's been 50+ years since I took high-school French, which fails me now! 😞😓
@@bdlodahl I'd love to know the history but if it's in French it's all Greek to me. 🤣😂
@@bdlodahl Chateau de Chaumont (La Serre-Bussière-Vieille)
Every time o google that name it brings up a completely different chateau ?
I didn’t want this to end!! The scale of this is mind blowing. I really can envisage you doing this too, right to the end and the excitement for your boys along the way! Congratulations Dan!
Who would have dreamed on your first day at Lalande that you would come this far! Well done, Dan. I'm really excited to watch your chateau journey.
@Text on telegram Tharescapetoruralfrance SCAM ALERT!!! 💯
So beautiful Dan. I'm incredibly impressed with your courage and energy. Good luck with everything, and please let someone help you from time to time. It's not a one man job.
Hello how’re you doing?
@joagra71 - illegal building work is never impressive
OMG!! I thought there must be hundreds of chateaux for sale in need of restoration that are in better shape than this. Then when you said it was gutted by fire, that made more sense. Still, you've taken on a tremendous challenge. I believe that certain properties speak to us. It's obvious watching you caress the banister and paneling that you've fallen in love. I'm sure you visited dozens of times imagining what you could do with it. I would take advantage of the Work Away program and get volunteers with the skills you need to get started. Or find local teenagers to help with clearing the brush and debris. They, however, are sometimes like bulls in a china cabinet. They tug and pull without thinking about the consequences of that action, so be careful what you turn them loose on. WELL DONE, Dan!!! I'll be 66 next month and am pitifully out of shape. Otherwise, I'd love to help you. Much love.
I have just turned 61 and housebound due to disability and when I saw the chatuex I did think - 'oh Dan what have you done.' - but to hear it was distroyed by fire it tugged at my heart.
I wish Dan all the very best in his endeveres to bring this old regal lady back to life, I can imagine his boys running around the corridors having great fun, I just hope I'm around long enough to see Dan's dream come true.
The exterior structure looks secure and solid. Removing the rubble inside..and rebuilding the floors and walls...is something I guarantee, Dan will make happen! Architects ...get your engines ready!! 💯
You’d of thought Coco Chanel would have had good insurance…
@@tjanderson575 Coco Channel died 10th January 1971. She must have been well over 60 when she bought the place.
I am certain the price was right ! Dan has skills & an audience. He’ll restore this place amazingly
Can't believe how much you have achieved in just a few days, it sure is a magnificent building its going to be so exciting to watch your progress. Well done Dan.
If you do recruit Volunteers, hope your first pick will be someone to assist getting blogs done every day.
You & Billy P keep them brief, which I like. You give lots of the actual work, and would love to track this project day-by-day.
Wish you luck🍀
Such a good idea! Would love to watch daily vlogs too!!!
Yes a film helper for daily vlogs...👌🤗🙏
I can’t wait to watch everyone of your videos. I watched the first two now and I’m so excited , to watch all the others !
You have definitely bitten off a big bite! And I love your determination to make it beautiful in the style that it was! Congrats Dan!
What an exciting adventure Dan…for you and your family!!! Never a boring moment from now on. A MASSIVE task,to be taken one step at a time. Wishing you all the best!!!
Dan, please consider making more than just one video a week. Watching this chateau transform is going to be addictive!
My late mother lived at La Charade for thirty years and she would be thrilled that the Chateau has somebody like you.
Not afraid of hard work and holding the vision!
Congrats!
Dan, been with you from the beginning. I have seen the work that you can do and all the friends you have there in France. I know you can get it done.
This is amazing! It is a good thing that Dan has two good up and coming helpers! He is definitely going to need them!
Tears in my eyes as I am worried for you. You are a risk taker and so very talented but Dan be safe while working as it looks like you could hurt yourself there. Wishing you well you hard working, dreamer of a man!
Dan, found your great channel today. Looking forward to viewing previous vlog's and future adventures. From, Portland, Oregon USA. USMC Veteran.
Dan I am so impressed! You will do just fine. With your dedication and hard work you will get it done. Lots of love from Florida.
I’m not sure if you realize this or not, but by making order from chaos and restoring beauty, you are doing God’s work. Well done
The concepts of nature representing chaos and humans representing order are what set us on the path to the global destruction of nature we see today.
This project is fine, he's restoring a historical building. But to an atheist like me, the forest reclaiming the house looks far more like God's work than anything Dan is doing.
I’ve got goosebumps!!! What a project! I’m so excited for you and I can’t wait to see you progress through the painstaking restoration. ❤❤❤❤
I remember when you and the family looked at this property. The possibilities were giving me the tingles, but what a project! It’s so cool that you are doing it. I hope you share what transpired to get to this point of wanting to do it, the structural concerns, and your long term hopes for it once the work is complete. I can’t wait to witness it all!!
Dan. Congratulations to you and Annalise, cannot wait for you to make this Grand Old Lady’s walls to speak again. The manner in which you caress her with a gentle touch of her wood panels and beauty tells me we are😊in for one hell of a journey with you. From Australia 🇦🇺 cannot wait for this journey to begin 👏👏👏
They are separated for quite some time now. No news on if they are getting back together. This was in Diaries of a Chateau videos when he was living there for a few months and then said with his grandfather.
Doesn't mean she won't be supporting his dream.
@@karencorcoran4628 Of coarse, she will. After all, their 2 boys also will be living in that chateau.
What an enormous project! Thank you for preserving this amazing part of history.
You bought it at last. Can’t wait to see your progress, well done you. Your two young sons are a credit to you both. Good luck Dan. xx
Can hardly wait for next week Dan! OMG I absolutely love this project of yours! You are so brave to take it on, but what an inspiration and what a quiet beauty. Wishing you smooth sailing.
OMG Dan, I can totally see why you bought it. What a stunning building, even as it is now. Loved when you uncovered the steps, they're stunning Can't wait to watch you uncover the chateau and bring it back to life. What a legacy it will be for your boys too. Well done Dan
What a lovely post amongst all the armchair finger waggers. Thank you for posting this
@@ariellesoullighting4309 "armchair finger waggers" 🤣 Well, a while ago Dan had a problem with his back when doing some heavy lifting. He should just take it easy...
What an amazing difference those three days have made, Dan. I can see so many wonderful possibilities for your chateau. Rome was never built in a day, but I have so much faith in you considering all the wonderful projects you have achieved in your lifetime. I think getting even a small part able to be lived in for a time, while you slowly win back the rest will be a great achievement. Windows, doors and some roofing and then power and some plumbing will be the go! Best, David
Oh my God!....Dan!!! What a great project you've embraced! We all can hardly wait to see the progress you make week by week as you breath life back into this long forgotten masterpiece. Obviously, you've figured out how to add more than 24 hours to the day without getting tired.
PEOPLE! Can we get Dan to 100k Subs real soon? He'll need lots and lots of Euros for the transformation.
Maybe Dan, you have been in touch with Hermione and borrowed her Time Turner? All the best on the restoration!
He should get lots of Euros from the TV show Chateau DIY and other British TV Home Renovation shows.
Thank you, I've watched two videos as of now and I've been dying inside to find a channel that will inspire me. 1 that will motivate me again to work on my historical home. Love this channel and I know I'll be watching every video
I LOOOOOVE THIS!!! Im so excited for you Dan and your new journey. The highlight of my week is watching this story unfold!! .xx
Oh Dan! How exciting! The next video can't come fast enough! This chateau is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see your vision unfold! Thank you so so much for bringing us along for the ride!
I've just watched this vid after following recent progress and the transformation is incredible! And .. I've just discovered (i think!) that we're actually close neighbours! 😲What are the chances! Would love to visit sometime, perhaps lend a hand or two. 👍
Congratulations! I remember seeing this chateau in an older video when you had brought the boys to play and I thought it was just lovely and filled with opportunities. Cant wait to see your progress. 😄
One very proud mum, reading all the positive comments and support makes me even prouder of you x. YOUR AMAZING!!!! Be careful and safe! XXX
You should be proud he is amazing in all his projects but this is beyond anything. Sure he is a worry also with all he takes on.🇬🇧🇬🇧

Hello 👋how’re you doing?
So excited you bought your own Chateau! It’s going to be amazing to watch you bring it back to life! 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve always been fascinated with ruins… trying to imagine how grand the structure was, before it became such. With the interesting history behind this ruins, it’s become an inspiration to restore it and bring back its glory days, and I strongly believe Dan is the man to do it !!! 👍 👍 👍
Your family is an absolute amazing, what you went through and now this huge project. I believe its a God's given to you because you are able 🥰👏
My face is beaming butterflies in my stomach while watching ! I'm in disbelief that it can't be true, is it?! OMG! It is true! Congratulations! What a place.
OK. I thought about you all day long, and waited until late this evening to watch. Only 14 minutes? I am going to die of excitement and anxiety. It looks GREAT, Dan. Clearing you are so good at. And just so enjoying this.
I LOVE THIS DUDE! _surveys absolute bombed-out ruin_ "THIS PLACE LOOKS AMAZING!" You're an inspiration, my man!
Dan, I am so thrilled that you’ve been able to purchase this amazing chateau and look forward to seeing you return it to it’s former glory. Know that I’ll be with you every step of the way
Hello how are you doing??
I am SO excited to watch you bring this chateau back !! I can't believe what a difference just clearing the overgrowth has made ! Curious about when it was built ?
What a thrill to be watching this restoration from the start! Congratulations! ❤️🇨🇦
Dan a suggestion to help with restoration funding. Have a chateau reveal annual event to raise 🤑 give tours of the ruin and discuss the history etc. along with the plans for restoration. You could possibly work with an event organizer as DIY is your speciality. A monumental task, Have Michael the photographer from Stephane chateau take pictures, of its present state and sell them on a store you create with other items using his photographs, mugs, shirts, limited edition lithographs, even a book with history etc. Good luck. Tucson Az
Hi how are you doing?
Dan you are a marvel! Stunning the amount of work you can do! It will be so much fun to watch this transformation over the next few years❤️
Hello how are you doing?
You're right! That WAS amazing - but YOU are even MORE amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey with us; I think I have a backlog of videos to catch-up on. This video was really up my alley. I am equally surprised that those steps were in such splendid condition when you cleaned them off. But I'm really amazed that the French government allows these treasures to deteriorate - even if they were in a fire 40 years ago. You're now part of the history of this home and I look forward to your future work. Take care and good luck! DA (Vancouver, WA - USA)
Looks like the same Chateau you visited with the family a while back. Congratulations, I can't wait to see what you do with it.
Do you have any idea what episode that was?

Wow Dan. I thought you buying this chateau was only click bait. Well, now I can only congratulate you and wish you best of luck. I will definitely sit in front of the tv every Sunday night.
Dan, I have been watching you for years at Chateau de la Lande, and your dailies at the farm house. Amazing!
However, your new château is going to be the most fun thing to watch ever. Your energy and your ability to work like you do is phenomenal. My husband is now watching this with me. We cannot wait to see what you do with this place. What is the name of your Château?
Well done! Love seeing the Chateau come into view out of the wild landscape! This is a beautiful property. Can't wait to see week 3.
Absolutely the most beautiful skeleton I’ve ever seen. I love it when one can see a diamond in the rough. Excited to see what you do with this place. What a vision you have for the chateau. Your variety of skill sets and hard work ethic will go a long way to realize your dream!
I’m so excited to watch this progression transform this beautiful ruin back into her glorious magnificent wonderful self!
This is going to be a fantastic ride that you take us on! Already, such a transformation. You get the best angles for your videos and always play groovy music too.
I give this a solid 10! Oh, and what an especially thoughtful way that you started this video, showing the tribute to what it was in the war. Very meaningful.
If it was owned by CoCo Chanel I approve! Funny enough Chanel use chateaux for their shows, so I look forward to seeing a runway show there! Wishing you the very best with this project. Love to you and your family.

A wonderful project Dan . Congratulations Lezley
Great job Dan. That sort of thing is typical of the sort of work you've done at La Lande, but no less impressive. I'd say even more so. It's a bit like watching someone restoring an old canvas. 👍

So enjoyed the premiere you achieved so much Dan. Great to be with everyone as you start this journey.
The facade of the Chateau is truly stunning. I am so curious how you will tackle the big jobs of reinforcing the walls, building the floors and of course putting the roof up. Good luck, Dan!

Lol 😊 congratulations 🍀🍀🍀 so I’m reading other comments, and they are not only good ones, but people show great care for you.
