A.R. Rahman | will.i.am | Rare Conversation About Music, Creativity and Future Collaboration

  • In this candid video, two of the world's most iconic musicians offer a rare insight into their life, philosophy, and creative goals. This conversation between Grammy Award-winning legends A.R. Rahman and will.i.am reveals much about what artistically lies ahead for the visionary musicians, while charting responses to the emergencies faced by the globe. Both musicians have for long pushed the boundaries of music, producing timeless songs elevated in borderless production, even as they did their bit as philanthropists and mentors.
This conversation marks the beginning of a visionary, cross-cultural collaboration for the near future. The duo last united in 2014, when they collaborated on the will.i.am’s single with singer-songwriter Cody Wise, “It’s My Birthday,” which recreated Rahman’s landmark 1994 track “Urvasi Urvasi” from the Tamil film Kadhalan.

See how Will is humbly mentioning That Asha ji has been his inspiration. But here in India, you cannot see that respect anymore. No one appreciates one another. I am a music student of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and here my Indian music teachers are busy saying Indian music is the best in the world and western music in nothing and the vice versa by the western music teachers. No one respects one another. Even in probably a reality show Himesh reshamiya insulted Asha ji. And Anu Malik, a shit scam plagiarised musician says he is the best in the world. That hurts the most

For all those who are complaining "Come back ARR".
Seriously when did he go away??
Let him reinvent himself and give us more new songs, and I never felt soulfulness missing in his songs and in fact, most of his latest songs are more spiritual and soulful ( his Sufi compositions and so many )
Grow up guys, don't complain !!
If AR does music like he used to do in the 90s, people will complain by saying sounding old. Definitely, he would've been outdated if he composes similar music which he used to compose in the 90s.
If he composes something new by reinventing himself, people would say we were missing 90s AR.
    People are never satisfied
What I feel is ARR is perfect in his own way, he has done enough masterpieces in the 90s and now he is reinventing himself by bringing newness in songs, and that reflects his creativity, His latest "99 songs " is something which cannot be explained in words.
When we listen to his OSTs from Hollywood movies like " The Hundred-foot journey " and so many other movies, those are simply mind-blowing.
Listen to the instrumental “The dichotomy of fame “. Man!! That’s a freaking masterpiece
No one, I repeat no one can compose like ARR 💥

Rahman Sir the talk that you had for sure will bring in lot of opportunity to our talented Indians and also taking our culture and talent to the mainstream " next level "and give that exposure which is well deserved . Its your greatness and humbleness that makes your stand where you are . We always thought AR talk less but after seeing this I feel " When AR Talks he creates opportunities and shows his love to towards our Nation - India " You have proved that you are not only The Great Musician/Music Director but also a great Human Being / True Indian .
Loads of Love and Respect to you Rahman Sir . Regards - Vijay (DJVJ)
