Farm Folks has changed DRASTICALLY since the last time I covered it. And holy crap, are there so many ways to customize everything. Not just your character, but your house layout, the furniture inside of it, the colors and patterns of nearly everything, etc. The list goes on and on and on and on and on and...you get the idea. It's AMAZING!!!

Catching up on everything that has changed with this game and OH MY GOSH has it changed! I will always have nostalgia for the old design, but I'm stoked for this! What do you guys think?!

As a Sims player, I'm sold on the building/customization alone. I know I could put hours into building/designing without touching any of the other content. The art style is great. They really put a lot of love into the assets.
We can't even do half of its features in Sims 4's build and buy 🤣
was thinking the same. This may be a builders game too. It combines two things I enjoy in the sims - building and farming
*shut up and take my money* the amount of effort they put into this is crazy. Especially when it comes to the character design. Very happy they have the initiative to do their best. When it does come out, it will definitely be worth the 30-40$ price tag.
Couldn't agree more! I love how many details have gone into small things like seed packets. Imagine that, but on everything!

Isn’t sims 4 like a decade old though? I remember friends playing that in highschool, although maybe that was the third.

I backed this game ages ago, hung out in the discord till THE EVENTS occurred, and had given up on ever seeing a finished product, but this video has made me excited again! Thanks for covering it Doc!
Honestly I still don't think we're ever going to see it. I backed a HUGE amount of money during the initial kickstarter and I am very unhappy I wasted all that money. 😞

The planter boxes were cool, but PLANTER BOX MAZES... I'm sold! The animals are adorable too! The house building is new to me since I've never played Sims and other games like it, but I'm excited about that part! But I think I'm inwardly crying at the idea of fighting pests and diseases as IRL I've dealt with attacks from flies, aphids, squash borers, and spider mites (and more)... I'm sure it won't be nearly so overwhelming in the game, but I won't pretend that makes me enthusiastic XD

I only discovered Farm Folks after Crytivo's acquistion since I got signed up to their newsletter following SunnySide, and for some reason I was turned off by the art style at the time. I'm glad for your video because idk what I was thinking lmao, I really want this now too!!
This game looks too good to be true! O_O I LOVE the new art direction and OMG those little bags of seeds are so cute! Everything is so stylized and nice to look at.

I only recently re-found this the new art style and direction, it actually makes me want to donate to development wheres before it just put me off. I'm extremely excited for this game again. The amount of progress they've made is amazing. But on their page, it looks like while they're still working the issues with Russia/Ukraine are affecting their development team. I hope they are ok for their team members.
I look forward to the future of the games development
Is it just me or does the artwork for the animals not match that of the player? The animals are short, round and have a cartoon-like appearance, whereas the player is tall, slim and more realistic. Don't get me wrong, they look good, but they look like they're from two different games. I'm so excited for the hybrid crops, that was my favourite part of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life! Thanks for the update :)
If you though the Farm Folks player and animal art styles weren't that similar than you should see Coral island

They could still be experimenting with the style as they have completely restarted style-wise. I do agree with them feeling slightly separated from each other when it comes to style.

I've only just recently learned about this game because they followed me on twitter. When I saw how amazing their game looked, I instantly followed back and got seriously hyped. This game's graphics are perfect! The things that have been listed as gameplay so far sound like tons of fun. I will definitely be building, doesn't matter that I stink at it lol, it's a feature in games I love if I get to farm the resources to earn my build pieces.

The name of the game just popped up in my head after a long time. And I was looking for the updates. Here we go. You just posted a new video. I heard that the company had some rough time. Btw I liked the old art-style. It was so adorable and cozy.
It was, and some of it will live on, but mostly just as nostalgia. I'm trying to be excited about the future though, rather than bummed about the past!

The farming temps might be a bit like Vintage Story. It would be more or less seasonal, but if the temp is too cold, for instance, you'd need a greenhouse.

I've followed this game for a long while and didn't back it up on kickstarter because I was heavily skeptical. I am glad they went with this new direction after the project was passed onto another team. Great stuff I'm seeing so far... Hope it comes to the Switch too.

Omg this looks absolutely amazing, I hope they do like sprinklers or something for automated crop watering, Story of Seasons pioneers of olive town does it, one of my favorite farm games, other than harvest moon a wonderful life
Oh yeah, they'll absolutely automate the watering. Look closely at the thumbnail - there's a conveyor belt in the background - automation is definitely in the cards :)

This seems very ambitious... if this game is actually gonna come out then I'm extremely excited! I'm just not completely sold on the idea that they are gonna have all of this ready ever. Seems kind of like Paralives but sooo much more complicated. No hate to the creators, just a little worried that everyone is gonna get their hopes up on a game that's never gonna come out

The new art style is honestly a huge game changer, its much more appealing and fits with the tone of the game.
I avoid getting excited by anything... But it does seem interesting.

I'm excited about this game but.... It seems they haven't come close to completing a single aspect and every time I turn around they say they're adding more and more new things. I just hope their eyes aren't bigger than their stomachs and they don't get caught in a sea of unfinished ideas and promises that will never come to be. I've seen many a new game fall victim to this 😥

I love it! Hopefully it will become a co-op game like Stardew Valley. It would also be better if there were male and female or other protagonists but this is my first look at the game so maybe that is the plan anyway. 🙂

Yeah, I thought that too, but it still works somehow, lol. Bright colors and a whimsical atmosphere help, I think.

I wishlisted this game on Steam YEARS ago and eventually removed it because it seemed like a dead project. I'm glad it isn't and I'm glad to see updates/news on the Steam page. Regardless of how long it takes, I hope it's as good as it looks! :)

This sounds like a lot. It's like every type of game and mechanic just thrown into one game. I hope they're not being too overly ambitious and end up not doing any one thing well. I've never even heard of this either, and it's only going to be released on some weird place? How are they able to spend so much time/money on something like this that won't even be on Steam or even the Epic store for more exposure? I guess we'll see how it goes!
Who said anything about it not being on Steam or Epic? There's a Steam page already up for it that has been live for months, lol.
And they're able to spend the time on all this stuff because they already have money coming in from other sources.
