+Comrade Dyngus lmao...if you watch the same porno a few dozen times eventually you start noticing other things like what kind of lighter is on the side table ;) hahaha
Pretty cool, my grandfather served in ww2 with the US Army 4th armored division, and was a smoker too so I'm sure he had one of these. He landed on Normandy a month after D-day and went on to liberate bastogne , during this time he took a bullet through his helmet just barely missing his head and I'm told this is why he had some hearing loss. This was likely not the only cause, but is the one of the only stories I know of his time in the war. The other being an incident where he met a guy on a train, they started drinking together and he woke up in Paris Paris France He later went on to open up a bar in France with his brother before he was shipped back home. I would love to be able to have the German pistol and bayonet he brought back, but those disappeared long ago. He was such a great interesting man and I'm thankful to have his toolbox and some of his tools, but sadly he died when I was 7. at least he was putting up a flag pole when it happened. I find it fitting for a ww2 veteran to have died installing a homemade flag pole so he could fly the flag which he had fought to protect so many years ago.
+cutlerylover I have an old lighter that I would love to get working but I'm a little afraid to tear into the thing, do you think you could lend me a hand.
Story I had heard from a serviceman, was that they went over to the fuel barrels, and dipped their lighters in those to fill them. He preferred the aircraft fuel, as it lit his smokes with the least objectionable taste.
i really like this! Also, my great grandfather had a trench lighter, and he was in world war 2! My mom passed the trench lighter down to me, and I am extremely happy to have it! Mine is a Sure Fire with the logo imprinted on the sides. Also, it works perfectly, and is not missing anything! I also am able to get it to spark with its ORIGINAL flint, and it still has a good wick! All it needs is lighter fluid. I am very happy to own this lighter, and will take very good care of it!
what you said at the end about the story behind the lighter is exactly the way i feel and its what keeps me collecting stuff like this. recently i found a ww1 era trench art bullet knife that is basically a round of rifle ammo that had the bullet taken out and pocket knife blade jammed into the projectile then placed back into the casing. its so cool to think about the story behind something like that. was it a little time killing project someone did while they were stuck in the trench for weeks or months at a time. or could it have been some sly soldiers idea of a last ditch weapon to save his life if hes captured. i chase the mysteries with every piece i add to my collecting and in most cases we look at something and we know exactly what it was, but we will never know what it meant to the person who carried it, and that's the part that chills me to the bone.
My grandfather served in WW2 and they used these, still have a couple. Also have a couple reproductions (me and my father used to do historical re enactment). They're good lighters, original zippos. You're right about them having to refill the lighters frequently but a fun history fact is that it wouldn't hassle them too much because they used to just use the fuel from the vehicles or aircraft to do it!
Jeff if you dig this check out the douglass lighters from blade hq. it's similar to this design but seals up really well and basically doesn't dry out. it's called the douglass field lighter. in my opinion best lighter ever made.
Thanks for the review Jeff :) I've never heard of a lighter like this before, it's very cool, I want one myself now :P and I find this lighter looks a little similar to the imco lighter witch I find pretty cool too, I love ww2 stuff, especially ww2 lighters, love them hope to get one myself :P like the 41 black crackle zippo, I think that's a pretty cool lighter. But anyway thanks again for the review and I think it would be pretty cool if you can do more reviews on ww2 stuff like ww2 knifes and daggers, bayonets and lighters :P.
just a heads up there is now an official Zippo magazine that costs £4.99 GBP it has some interesting reading and comes with a limited edition Zippo it is now being sold in the UK not sure about the US though
Say Heah, They also gave similar ration lighters during the war, I have two brand new ones one I did just to see how it worked, mine are also aluminum a simple looking lighter but Heah it lights up what ever you want to smoke. I'm a cigar smoker so I prefer butane instead of Zippo fluid. Mine look's a little plainer looking maybe it's because it doesn't have any burnt patina it's a bright clean aluminum.
If it's anything like the imco lighters it doesn't lose fluid nearly as fast as a zippo. My imco (which lights 10 cancer sticks a day) only needs fluid once a fortnight.
Got one of those mine is a little different but for the most part the same. Mine I know saw service. Atleast in vietnam, the guy I got it from was a vet who used it and got from a ww2 guy
@cutlerylover I have an old lighter that I would love to get working but I'm a little to afraid to tear into the thing do you think you could lend me a hand?
Hello, thank you for the video! I got the same lighter. Changed the flint and wick (but not the old packing) and the lighter stops working after a while. It sparks but no flame! What could be the issue? Should I change the packing too?
Jeff did you know the back also holds a extra wick and flint I also have a small pipe shop in Ga and also lighters just did one like it 2 weeks ago thanks am and Ajett . A& pipe Co. and restoration services.
Cool lighter! Was the lighter used for only lighting cigarretes in WW2 or was it a necessity for something else? You said that it would lose fuel over time because it's not sealed properly, must have been extremely difficult for WW2 soldiers
My brother recently gave me a trench lighter. It seems as if it's all brass. It has a camel logo on it and nothing else. Do you know anything about it?
Can someone tell me what these are used for? I assume smoking but surely in the midst of a trench battle a cigarette is on your mind lol? Did they have to light the fuse to dynamite occasionally as well or something?
I've got a few of those decks of cards, and they're pretty disappointing. Firstly, it makes no sense at all for Bicycle to do a 130th anniversary deck, when they JUST did an anni, deck for their 125th. THAT deck even feature retro faces in addition to the box and backs. THIS deck, however, just has the retro box and backs, but mordern faces. Annoying as, I think. Sorry about the rant, Jeff, but I heard you collect playing cards as well, and thought I'd share my thoughts and that particular deck. Really looking forward to seeing the video on your collection! If you're interest in trading or buying any decks (like the aforementioned 125th Anni. deck), send me a PM.
I got one of these recently (A Reproduction) and I have been meaning to post a video on it talking about hows its worked for me and comparing it to a zippo. There cool but not practical for my use
I hate to be this guy but there weren't any trenches in WW2. Well maybe some idk I wasn't there, WW1 is the war with the trenches . Any way no big deal. Love your videos man.

did anyone else think he meant something else when he said gas chambers?
OMG lol
That's why I went into the comments to see if anybody mentioned that xD
I mean... It IS from WWII
yup
Yeah he should have said fuel chamber
Awesome lighter Jeff thanks for sharing it with us.
That is really nifty! Its cool seeing how it is similar to zippos as well as how it is different.
Gorgeous Lighter Jeff & Cool Family Story. Nick.

I like the trench art bullet lighters better but I'd still love to add one to my collection of ww1 / ww2 things .
*Pawn not porn lol
It's called an accent NUH NUH NIGGA!
+WhiteBoyWithAnIpod death
Very Cool Piece !!! Thanks for sharing.......ThumbZ UP !!!
I wonder if that cap could double as a hole punch cutter for cigars. Maybe with a slight mod.
Nice one, Jeff. One of the few affordable Dunhill products available out there.
guys he said pawn stars! its his jersey voice! awesome video jeff.
Holy shit, that is awesome. I can't decide what's more badass... this or a Zippo.
awesome video jeff, I'm gonna try and get one for myself
Just bought one, thanks Jeff!
Wow.. Sick lighter.. I need to get one of them.
Jeff if you dig this check out the douglass lighters from blade hq. it's similar to this design but seals up really well and basically doesn't dry out. it's called the douglass field lighter. in my opinion best lighter ever made.
I love your lighter videos
Sweet lighter.
I love your lighter vids.
Omg shout out to you man you had family who served

Great classic lighter.
awesome lighter! I want one..

I have a newer version of one of these, they are pretty good. The new ones have a double seal and will last twice as long as a zippo in hot weather
Members of my family also fought in WW2, but for the right side.
i have one . real cool
cheers
So it's a Zippo without a case?
now we know what jef does on his free time 😂
If it's anything like the imco lighters it doesn't lose fluid nearly as fast as a zippo. My imco (which lights 10 cancer sticks a day) only needs fluid once a fortnight.

@cutlerylover I have an old lighter that I would love to get working but I'm a little to afraid to tear into the thing do you think you could lend me a hand?
Yeah the bracelets with the fero rods only seem to be showing up in the last month or maybe 2.
I was given one of these with a box of old tools, and car parts. I prefer them over Zippo.
Woah this is awesome
Hey where did u get the flint? Im also missing a spring. Any help? Cool stuff, gonna check out that paracord on etsy now. Thanks in advance!
was there a vid on the letter you received explaining why they (usps) destroyed the package?
very cool
looks cool
i think you can put a small o ring on the cap of that lighter for a better fit
This looks like the first Clipper ever
Hello, thank you for the video! I got the same lighter. Changed the flint and wick (but not the old packing) and the lighter stops working after a while. It sparks but no flame! What could be the issue? Should I change the packing too?
The packing and wick seem to dry up very quickly… Looking forward to your reply, thank you in advance!
Moreover, the original packing was very very tight, a lot of rayon was stuffed there, could this be the issue?
Jeff did you know the back also holds a extra wick and flint I also have a small pipe shop in Ga and also lighters just did one like it 2 weeks ago thanks am and Ajett .
A& pipe Co. and restoration services.
holy shit, a lighter cooler or just as cool as the vintage 1941 zippo
I have a lighter exactly like that, but it is in perfect condition
Cool lighter! Was the lighter used for only lighting cigarretes in WW2 or was it a necessity for something else? You said that it would lose fuel over time because it's not sealed properly, must have been extremely difficult for WW2 soldiers
heard in Vietnam they used to tie shoelaces to zippo lighters and dip them into the gas tanks of jeeps to fill em.
+Alan Yu damn
I was able to fix mine but it gets super hot on the body of the lighter. Is that normal?
I am hoping to copy that desighn, but instead of it being in a small cylinder, it will be in a 50 bmg shell (spent, of course.)
I have 2 of these in excellent condition
how its made that wheel spins with the lid?
I love you all
Cool!
That's cool.
This lighter is cool.
Can you do a video on the Ronson Banjo?
I like how it resembles a bullet
2degucitas but... but it doesnt
My wheel keeps getting stuck on the flint. And it is really hard to budge. How do I fix this?
Michael Glass you dont
+cutlerylover do you still have this lighter? if so would you consider trading it?
My brother recently gave me a trench lighter. It seems as if it's all brass. It has a camel logo on it and nothing else. Do you know anything about it?
Its not a trench lighter
Ww2 reenactment in Gettysburg this weekend at the Eisenhower farm
Nice lighter and bracelet
thanks made it myself :p if you want it's on etsy just look up tolnik tools
Turn captions on at 0:22
Can someone tell me what these are used for? I assume smoking but surely in the midst of a trench battle a cigarette is on your mind lol? Did they have to light the fuse to dynamite occasionally as well or something?
you know that soldiers werent usually actually doing much. trench warfare involved a lot of sitting around.
Wish you wouldve shown a step by step. Got one for my son and want to get it working before i give it to him
I have one of those cool yeah I can’t get mine to work either just need fluid
Yep

COOL!!
thatz really cool.....I dont know the vintage value but am willing to pay $1000 for it ...is it good enough?
+itcltd They go for a cheap on eBay. Don't ever pay 1000 for this.
I got one of these recently (A Reproduction) and I have been meaning to post a video on it talking about hows its worked for me and comparing it to a zippo. There cool but not practical for my use
Ikr
90% of comments : lmao he said pornstar
10% of comments : actually comments of interest in the lighter
I wish I had that lighter
why did you say 'ww2' instead of world war 2 . The full version has less syllables
Who won the Maxpedition?
Why Didn't They Use Zippo's?
They were probably more expensive to make
i thought the purpose of a trench lighter was that the flame wasn’t visible to snipers and stuff
@@cameron9322 yes.
I hate to be this guy but there weren't any trenches in WW2. Well maybe some idk I wasn't there, WW1 is the war with the trenches . Any way no big deal. Love your videos man.
I died when he said "porn stars"
I've got one of these but not sure what it's worth
