Stormwind - Music & Ambience - World of Warcraft

  • No city better demonstrates human determination than Stormwind. Destroyed during the Horde’s initial invasion of Azeroth, Stormwind was painstakingly reconstructed by the Stonemasons’ Guild after the Second War. Parts of the city were razed again when Deathwing, the corrupted black Dragon Aspect, brutally attacked Stormwind, but the other undamaged districts are more beautiful than ever thanks to their hardworking inhabitants. From the magnificent Cathedral of Light, which serves as a major spiritual hub, to the awe-inspiring Valley of Heroes, which commemorates the sacrifices of Stormwind’s loyal champions, the city truly represents the courageous heart of humanity.

After watching the game over my shoulder when I was a kid, my mom started playing WoW too. She wasnt into all of the endcontet stuff and instead loved to roam around with her warrior and discover stuff. She always told me that she likes the Stormwind theme the most. She lost her fight to cancer a few days ago and coming here to listen to this is so painfull and yet pleasing at the same time.

I will never forget my first time walking into Stormwind as a low level human in vanilla. Stumbled upon it by mistake, not understanding what a 'major city' was, the beautiful big music playing. I must have just walked around for hours exploring the in's and out's. Admiring all of the level 60s in their armor and mounts, which I figured I would never get. Sigh, good times.

For me it was an interesting experience as well. I’m a fully blind player, and they recently gave us a mod to navigate into quests and what not. So we can enjoy the game just as much as you guys. When I stumbled around into the city, just hearing the music, the people, the noises and everything else that came with it was just astounding. I could only imagine what it looked like, but the music gave me something completely new. I imagine it to be a majestic city just brimming with people. Still leveling up, as a level 11 warrior 😂

I haven't played in years, I'm much better mentally than I was, but the feeling of taking a Vanilla character into Stormwind or Ironforge for the first time and exploring is just unlike any other gaming experience I've ever had. It really was something altogether incredible and this music takes me right back.

I do sometimes miss it, especially since I'd now have some friends to play with, but I just can't seem to bring myself to actually go through with it again, cause of how weird and difficult everything was at that time. This music is a bit refreshing, as distant as it might seem now.

I clear as day remember when I first walked over the bridge, past the statues and into the city accompanied by that first song. More so, I remember the countless hours spent roleplaying in "The Pig n' Whistle" in Old Town. There has been 100s of games after WoW for me, but nothing - n o t h i n g - compares to it to this day. The comraderie, the adventures. I was a grown up when WoW released, and I am even more grown up now, but not a day goes by that I do not miss this game. At the same time, I know going back and start playing again would be pointless. So here I sit, an old man, reminiscing past times and listening to the music that accompanied my adventures for years.

Coming to Stormwind was fascinating since I soon tried to find the warlock teacher. The first time I enter in SW was to kill Varian. I was at Orgrimmar and some ppl started to organize a raid for the achievement "FOR THE HORDE". It was epic, like 60 or 80 Horde Players, all with the flying mounts together. We flight to the montains near SW until everybody could arrive, and them everybody rushed to Varian and it was a complete caos, since there was a lot of ally players trying to stop us. After we finish him, we went to the other capitals and we complete the achievement. WPVP is one of the best parts of WOW. What a night. What a game.

Sad as it is, I’m glad Stormwind is so empty sometimes. It’s nice to just cruise around and admire the city while waiting for dungeons or raids. Getting to sit down and relax anywhere you want without constant chatter and people all around. I’ll never forget when they changed to the destroyed area or added in the little cemetery with benches and a gazebo.

Nightelf Hunter, started in Teldrasil, innocent and lost, had no idea the impact this game will have on me.
At lvl 10, i couldn't belive i was able to get a pet, gray tiger i chose, whom i kept for years afterwards. Then my real life friends, who were humans, invited me to go to a really cool city they said, many players with high lvl and amazing swords, so i took a ship, traveled there and entered the city, can't even begin to describe the slightest glimpse of the feelings i had when i first entered stormwind and heard the epic life changing music. From that milestone in my life, everything changed and i immersed myself in the world.
I was 14 years old back then, now im 29 and the feelings are still there in my heart, in an unchangable spot.

I have 2 characters each in both factions. I was a hardcore hordie at the beginning during Vanilla, BC and Wrath, I kinda quit during Cata. Came back for Pandaria and decided to roll an alliance toon, after awhile all my char's eventually became alliance. Now recently I just faction changed my 120 rogue into a horde meanwhile I'm leveling up a horde orc hunter, just started him recently and I'm like "damn I miss my horde toons". So now I have both alliance and horde.

@@FlourEater I would say my favorite races of the horde are the blood elves, tauren and orcs. I love the character models for the undead, but I'm not too keen on their use of biological warfare and such. Orcs do have a sense of honor and tauren's are kind of in touch with the earth and have a native american vibe going on. I kinda dig the trolls too in a way, I kinda like how blizz uses the mayan type culture to present them.
