The ladies got quite a workout on this project. Mentally and physically. Just walking around and finding a steady place to set your feet in a constantly changing landscape. I used to build decks and I would keep 4 16' 2x12s on my truck to throw on the ground along the house and on each side of the footers. Walking on planks made a big difference in my productivity and how I felt the next morning.
Makes good sense. Walking on an uneven surface does indeed give you a workout!
Much better than the last video of the little bit of rock you dropped. When it comes to erosion control, you can never have enough rock. Good work.

@@TractorTimewithTim Not trying to be judgmental. We have just over a mile of riverfront and are always adding rock to keep back erosion as our river rises 6-8 feet every year when in flood. Always enjoy your videos.

A Sub Compact tractor is the greatest thing on the planet a man can own. If I had to choose between my Sub compact and my compact id keep the little one. It like a personal assistant. :-)
+mattsbrute interesting. I agree that it is handy. I just wonder if a 3-series would provide more productivity. Sounds like you are saying that the little guy is the most handy.
Yes I think it is the most handy. Im a Massey man so im not sure what a 3 series is. I assume that's a 3032e or something. The larger tractor has strong and weak points. Its great to have in a 3 foot snow or if you need to pick up something really heavy. The backhoes are more refined and smooth on the bigger machines. Sub compacts have to rev the motors to death to get the Hydro flow up and they are so jerky and awkward. The larger tractor is better in rough terrain because the wheels are much bigger. I think my tires on my compact tractor are close to 4 foot tall and the front are like 29 inches. It also uses skid steer implements were the sub cant. The weak point is its harder to control the loader. Its just all power and no finesse. Its harder to smooth out the ground with it because it so strong it just wants to dig in. The sub compact loader so much smoother and you can grade so easy with them. Sub compacts you have no regen. I dunno. Owning both I think for Harry homeowner a Sub is better. I needed the bigger one for snow plowing and the backhoe so I have to have it. I love it to death but If I only could have one Id go with the sub personally.

Very nice new trailer. As you were backing off, it looked like the bottom of the backhoe was going to dig into the pavement before the rear tires came off the ramps. 6:39 time stamp area, before you adjusted the bucket.
It did actually drag. The grade there was not in my favor. If you'll notice, the grade was going 'upward' behind the trailer.
Also, I'm thinking about backing onto the trailer to see if I can improve this situation. I know it will help with the backhoe, but I'm not sure it will work with the tiller. Good eye, BTW.
@@TractorTimewithTim I watched this video again recently. Just a thought on unloading from the trailer. Since it is a dump trailer you may want to bring the deck up a bit which will lower the ramp angle for you. Keep that in mind especially with your new Johnny as the backhoe is a bit longer and more likely to drag.

That's a beautiful area and the JD looks right at home just working away. I've watched several of your videos and it seems really powerful and I'm not hearing the HST wine that I hear in other Kubota BX videos. In my area, the JD 1025R TLB is almost $6000 more than the BX23S TLB. I don't need a SCUT, I just want one to do some small projects and clear snow so $6000 is a large increase. I like the side by side HST peddle on the JD.
+Scott F. The price isn't that much different when you start pushing them. If you look closely, watching all of my videos, I think you'll be able to see why the Deere is worth a few extra $$. This is not a negative statement on other brands. They are good solid tractors. The differences are in attachability, comfort, etc.

....just stay away from Tractor Time with Tim if you don't want to be 'lured in' to the fun of a compact tractor.

Scott F. The 1025r has some HST whine but not as much as the BX. Also I personally like the treadle pedal on the Kubota because to me, pushing a pedal forward to go backwards just seems off to me.
+mlemmon923 your deere dealer should be able to get closer to the BX than $6000. You should be able to get 15-18% off MSRP.
Our JD dealer is brutal. BX25D and now the BX23S are flying out of the showroom here in St. John's, NL. The JD dealer says their sub compacts are already discounted.

Welcome to our channel, Adam. Thanks for watching. Not sure how many of our videos you've seen at this point, but we attempt to show how this little tractor can 'over-achieve' on many different tasks. It just takes determination!
Tim, if you're having clearance problems unloading from your new trailer, try tilting the bed a few degrees to ease the ramp angle.

+Chuck Polhamus well, if you have the money, you will definitely enjoy it. Having said that, if you cannot afford it, I would recommend waiting. You will not be happier if your financial situation is strained
+Tractor Time with Tim...omg what great advice, as a matter a fact I do have the cash and that almost makes it worse to see it all go. Anyway great channel and you seem like a great guy. Am older now but have been in a position where I have bought things I should not have and you are right they end up owning you not you owning them, and that makes it no fun much better to pay cash and be done with it..
Ok, good. In that case, my advice is the opposite! Please don't 'cheap out' on this purchase. The 1025R has several very nice additional features, like a better seat, 'position control' on the 3-pt, nice rubber floorboard mat, 2-3 extra horsepower.
Also, look at additional attachments. You can make this purchase with 0% financing, so you might as well do that. Set the cash aside earning interest, and payoff over the years. I find that the additional attachments is what really brings value to the tractor. A tractor by itself is not really worth much.

Great advice, I don't use credit cards of any kind just a personal preference, however I get what you are saying and will look into the 1025 dint think it was worth the money just for the few extra hp that it offers, as far as attachments it doesn't make a difference same amount are available for both tractors I think. It's January and you show us green leaves that turned brown but still on the trees. And you're working outside in a t-shirt. Piranha tooth bar would protect your bucket and ease digging a bit, plus it works great moving rocks.

+TooFarToTurnBack not sure, actually. If I do, it will be one of two...either Artillian or CT Attachments. I like the looks of both of them. I have actually operated the Artillian grapple on a demo tractor. It works very well.

not asking what you charge, but did you charge more for your personal time as you became more experienced with the machine ? Additionally I assume you charge run time for the machine itself as well?
I'm so inconsistent with pricing that I really don't like talking about it. Just spent several hours on a project tonight...WAY under-charged. Oh well. We enjoyed ourselves!
We don't charge too much...we're not in it to get rich...we just want to pay for the equipment and have a little spending money left.

I don't remember the exact measurement, but my intent was to get them directly in front of the left and right loader booms.

Handy little tractor, how much is it able to lift with the frontloader?
I have 'adjusted' it a bit. With my adjustments, I can lift 1200lb about a ft off the ground. ...but probably 800 to full height. I think it is rated at 600 or so to full height.

Did the stream erode the bank at high water times? Your videos help me greatly.
Yes. They built a new bridge upstream, which changed the flow slightly. This caused new faster erosion of this creekbank.
Having said that, this looks much like most ditches and creeks in the Midwest.
So have you followed up to see how it helped with the erosion? I would like to know that. Having a similar issue
What kind and size of rocks are you suing on the water bank
+Thomas Bridges it is crushed limestone. Here, they call it 'Rip-Rap'. I'm not sure of the specified diameter. Probably 12"

+willie Makit we do some side work. You can see videos of most of them here. We will get more toys for Johnny as $$ arrive, need arises, etc.
for that step grad I would have used gabion baskets, there a heavy galvanised wire mess basket with black landscape felt behind them and up the bank to the top and over the top to hold back solid erosion filtering out of the rock in high waters and heavy rain, the baskets would help in the bottom 3 feet high, much lass rock and much solider then bank the remanded, problem with these kind of jobs around water, is the paper work and inspection by the ministry to even be able to begin to get the permit no mater were you are or what water way it is, with out it its hundreds of thousands in fines just one rock rolling into the water by a machine, you can do all the hand work with out any permit but put a machine near it is a total different ball game, if you want to keep your balls and tractor, with the permit the landscape felt is a must as well as a stacked fabric fence or straw bales any were on top were your working that is down hill to the water, to hold back all mud that may wash from rain well your working and until the grass or vegetation comes back thick

Did you take the teeth off the loader, or did you just not have the teeth yet?
I have them on and off frequently. They are easy to add/remove, so I use them only when they are right for the job

Yes. The new bridge had rerouted the water slightly, and it had washed out several feet in just a few months. So, she wanted to stop the erosion before it further encroached on her yard.

+R M yes, we had the full blessing of the EPA. Including permits.
See, you just told on yourself! EPA does not issue fill permit for waterways. Army Corps of engineers has jurisdiction over waterways.
+R M first of all, who appointed you in charge of permit checking? But yes, we had full permits. Shirley acquired them, along with the 10 pages of restrictions like 'you can't work on the between April 1 and June 30 (or something like that) due to fish spawning season. The permits are posted on a tree there by where we are working. I'm sure some of the video would show them from a distance. So, take your self appointed big government regulation police attitude elsewhere.

I know you are trying to show the use of the tractor, but as a stream specialist, I can say your project is poorly thought out. The rock is too small and too narrowly graded. You don't have a toe trench at the bottom of the slope with larger rock in the toe. The slope is too steep too. You are lucky you didn't roll the tractor off the edge of the bank. Put the rops up and buckle your seat belt so you stay in the seat if you go over. Get the ladies out from under you too. This could have been a very bad day for you all. Final comment is that using nearly white rock on that dark woodland stream is very unnatural. Also, using small crushed limestone on an acidic eastern stream is of limited value because the rock will dissolve.
I doubt the job will last very long. Judging by the look of the channel, this stream can carry a lot of water in storm events. My guess the first high water event will scatter the rock everywhere because its just end-dumped and not placed and locked into place and is much too small for the current velocities I imagine the stream to achieve. I've seen landowners do jobs like this and the stream will cut behind the rock and really make a mess. This kind of work is best done with a backhoe with a thumb using a gradation of angular rock sizes.
