I know the Spitfire gets all the accolades but I do truly love the Hurricane. The splendid videography shown here does the grand old girl justice.
I always think that the Hurricane is a silent hero. I personally have a very soft spot for the Hurricane, as it has always been in the Spitfires shadow.
The Hurricane I feel is the loving and caring mother, and the Spitfire is the coveted girlfriend that every young man wants holding onto his arm.
Both are magnificent in their own way.
Magnificent…thank you and remembering all those men.
My smile watching matched yours in the cockpit and when you said there was one thing more you had to do before the flight was over I shouted ' gotta be a victory roll ! ' , it just had to be , perfect end to a perfect day 😀
The British Ace GP Capt Douglas Bader flew a MK2 Hurricane all through the battle of Britain, as he said " The Hurricane looked a little ugly alongside the Spitfire when sitting on the ground, but once you got it into the air it became alive". One time on a sweep over the French coast Bader took his Hurricane to 42,000 Ft! The Hurricane was a truly wonderful fighter. The luftwaffe bomber pilots absolutely dreaded them.
That was special and soul touching even just from my computer screen!
Outstanding. I happened upon your channel and immediately subscribed. I am an avid ex-colonial aviation lifer from across the pond in the Yank southwest desert. My town, Tucson, is an aviation hub. There is the well known Boneyard storage squadron, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, the Pima Air and Space Museum, an international air port, and the Arizona Air National Guard. Pilots from all over the world train year round. On my last visit to the air museum I filled with domestic air frames I let out a little whoop as I spied a Hurricane! My favorite Brit aircraft with the Tempest series almost a tie. It seems the Canadian aircraft had been assembled from bits of other aircraft. Totally legit field practice. I worked on the "100 series" F-100, F-102, and F-106. My heart remains with the prop jobs. The "Hurri" lacked the press coverage of the sleek Spitfire, but to my knowledge it was the RAF workhorse when it counted most. I am embarrassed to admit our museum failed to accept a freely offered Avro Vulcan due to xenophobic first director. When he was demoted then the museum became a right good outfit. Your channel should be broadcast there.
I'm in tears!! This is the one thing I have to do to fulfill my greatest dream! This is just so beautiful!
Green with envy. Awesome, what a privilege. Thanks for sharing. Lest we forget. Kia Kaha.
I am from Uruguay, 84. Splendid video, a pleasure to watch. Hurricane is probably the World's most famous fighter because of its key role in the Battle of Britain (RAF vs Luftwaffe, WW2, 1940)
Hello. I would like to agree with you, but unfortunately the Spitfire wears that crown. Even in Britain ask any layman which fighter won the Battle, Spitfire will be the answer, many probably couln't even name the Hurricane. Same with bombers. Only had one didn't we? Lancaster. The Stirling, Halifax, Wellington etc didn't exist.
@@richardmarshall4322Yes, the Spitfire wins overall because of its firepower, speed and maneuverability.
What a lucky man!
Wow, excellent video rather jealous sitting here watching😉😁
Best RAF aircraft in WW2 with the Mossie, and Lancaster goosebumps wow!
The Battle of Britain came almost too late but just in time for the Hurri. Any later in the war and it wouldn't have been competitive as a pure fighter against opposition fighter aircraft. It was at the end of it's development, but made a decent ground attack aircraft for a few years more.
Couldn't personally narrow it down to three, but can't argue with your choices, if not for simply the variety of missions and strange ordnance used by the latter two!
Thank you for this tribute to the Hurricane. My Great Uncle flew Hurricanes with 238 Squadron in the Battle of Britain. You can see his story on CZcams The King's Machine.
Great initiative for a video channel. Thank you for sharing Mark’s memorable day with us. I am envious. Brilliantly done and filmed.
I flew the two seater last month, along with some friends in the Me108, a Harvard and camera ship Extra 330. James in Hurricane R4118 made up the fifth aircraft in our five-ship formation. We're already planning a bigger event next year, with even more aircraft. Hurricane Heritage are the very best people to fly with. If you're thinking about doing it, don't hesitate. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny - and you won't regret it!
Congratulations and a great video 👍
Those hurricanes are such beauties. Standing mid-way between furies and sea furies, in a glorious lineage of great planes.
Wow, what a blast. Always a fav bird after meeting Ace Geoffrey Page🤗🤗🤗
I flew in BE505 back in June with Mike. It was an unforgettable and at times emotional experience made more special by the amazing team at Hurricane Heritage. Watching this brought it all flooding back.
Always been a 'Hurricane' guy. Having spent my youth reading books like Paul Richeys 'Fighter Pilot' amongst others, easy to see why. Great fighter aircraft.
Beautiful aircraft, it’s very emotional getting a flight in one of those iconic engineering marvels! I’m glad you got to experience that feeling of joy and freedom.
Mark..that was absolutelyf.........fantastic.....I sat and watched completely gobsmacked. A Hawker Hurricane.....your face looked as if you were in Hurricane ecstasy. Thanks for that excellent video and literally just stumbled on your channel not 10 minutes ago. A win for the almighty YT algorhythm I think. ( I watched your video on the Folkestone downing of the ME 109, great work) Thanks again- from an Australian who now lives in Poland.
Thanks, glad the algorithms did the job! The Hurricane flight was truly awe-inspiring. Being in close formation with a genuine Battle of Britain Hurricane over England on a summer's day was almost unbelievable. It was a scene I'd imagined in my head since I was a kid, never imagining that I'd actually do it one day. Mark P
@@WingleaderFilms Mark! As if you needed to reply to tell me that.....the beatific look on your face said it all! BTW my eldest son is also named Simon/ Szymon. Go well, thank you again!
Subscribed to the channel. I love the books and now we have moving pictures as well.
omg id sell my soul just to sit in one of these iconic machines !!!! the Hurricane ......the plane that won the Battle of Britain !!!!!
I loved your online magazine and was sad when that finished, so great to see you back with this!
Thanks Geoff, in many ways this is the successor to the Magazine concept. Essentially, the magazine articles will now become short films and if enough people watch and click 'subscribe' then we should be able to keep them free for all to watch worldwide, which of course was the original concept of the magazine, (funded by advertising).
So no more proof reading! 😂
Great footage and some lovely stills as well. Lucky man !
The smile on your face when flying it says it all! Great experience and thank you very much for sharing, it keeps many of us dreaming!!!
Thanks for sharing this video I saw u flying around didcot in Oxfordshire
Szymon did a fantastic job on this video.
Grandpa loved them and wrote the RCAF cold W/x icing procedures for them. I had the oppertunity to build a flying scale 1/24 model in his markings IAW hos log book, and provided him pics of the beast. I got his notes , recollections, and advice to make it better in a letter (he was anal as hell, lol) 2 days after he passed. These pilots had balls of tungstine. Lest we forget.
Great to see you back with the videos.
I had goosebumps!
excellent
Good for you👍👍✈ (Wonder if we could get plans or info on the set of stairs for entry to the aircraft. We have a Harvard here that is difficult to get into by the normal way. thanks).
Best contact Hurricane Heritage!
Thanks.@@WingleaderFilms

Beautiful pictures! But. Why do they always play MUSIC over the sound of those wonderful Merlins? Philistine!
We're not Philistines, there's a sound technical reason for the music. The Merlin doesn't sound so wonderful from inside the cockpit (!) so the only exterior sound of the engines was at the beginning, when they were too far away to pick up the engine sound, or at the end, where again, the wind is noisier than the engine noise. We did turn the music down for the aircraft taxiing back in so that you could hear the Merlins at close range, but that was the only opportunity to do so.
Grannies are both dead sadly, otherwise I totally would...
Will have to find someone else...
The hurricane was better than the spitfire. Rugged and extremely agile. It , not the spit , won the BOB.
Not so sure it was better, but there were many more Hurricanes than Spitfires in the BoB.
Too bad it's a pixelated & blurry video. The Hurricane is a super cool fighter that can tangle pretty darn good under the right pilot. It's faster than most people think it is.
The film is shot in HD so you need to check your internet connection and CZcams settings!
I'd love to straff & blow up a steam train !! Can they fix this ?? Don't mind crossing the channel to shoot up one "over there" if it will cost nothing !
Does life get any better?
