Probably more than likely, he's playing the way that everyone should play him. Djokovic exploited part of how players should play against Medvedev in the Paris Masters. This is the most high quality match so far in the AO 2023. The ball striking was simply amazing, the athleticism and defensive skills of both players, constantly changing to attack at the sniff of an opportunity, very few unforced errors for such groundstrokes always flirting with the lines, i am completely blown away by the quality on display. The difference is Korda had a bit more variety, a few lobs, changes of pace, slightly better hands at the net. If he can sustain this level of play, I don’t see anyone beating him in this tournament, especially not Djokovic. Maybe Holger Rune, or FAA, but no way is Djokovic beating this guy if he plays freely and with belief as he did today. Medvedev played extremely well, Korda was just slightly better. I was watching this match and as it gradually unfolded, I couldn’t help but ask “where has this Korda guy been? Did he have an injury or is he one of those flash in the pan?” Hopefully not to the latter, cause I absolutely enjoyed the match.

Man, one forgets how quickly “human” tennis players’ (not, Djokovic, Nadal, Federer) trajectories can change.
One year ago, Medvedev was a few games away from being anointed the “big man” from the under 30 club. Now, outside the top ranks.
Makes the consistency and accomplishments and longevity of the big three standout even more.

This made me a Korda fan!
I hope he can maintain form once he's back in form post injury; if so, I'd bank on him to win a slam before Sinner or Rune

If Korda keeps up this level, he'll take the racquet out of Djokovic's hands. Korda can steal this AUO from him.

@@sean9267 Agreed. Game wise he has everything to beat Novak. But Nole's mental toughness is something even Federer was not able to match on many occasions

Korda conducted a master class on footwork and preparation for each shot. He was never out of place. With that footwork and compact ground strokes, he can go far in the tournament, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him lift up the trophy. Such an exciting time for American tennis with Korda, Fritz, Tiafoe, Brooksby, Wolf, Nakashima, McDonald, and others. (The winner of Wolf vs. lucky loser Michael Mmoh will reach the fourth round. Mmoh will return to the top 100 after the tournament.)

Too defensive, too one-dimensional, too predictive, too bad on the net... Medvedev seems to have crumbled mentally as well, his biggest asset. Looks like that loss at the AO final last year against Rafa was the turning point for worse in his career.
    Korda was excellent today.
