I know true believers feel the same, and that a lot of these people are false teachers/fake, but it's so sad to see what church today has become for the world. I remember sitting at church when I was a young teenager, and listening to the pastor preach right out of God’s word and I was in awe and I remember being so moved and that’s just it, God’s word is LIVING and is what the Lord gives us as His greatest gift and it gives us all of the information He wants us to know to live a righteous and a life pleasing to Him, as well as how we should relate to others. All of the other stuff is pure nonsense, a distraction, and from people who just want attention on themselves and are usually extremely prideful which is the opposite of how we should come to the Lord. These preachers do not have an ounce of humility either. Don’t we have enough things that distract us and entertain us?? We’ve never had so many ways of being “entertained” and interestingly, it’s the entertainers that are our culture’s idols (Gods).
I'm just going to say this right off the bat, even before I finish watching this video: I don't have a problem with illustrative sermons(I'm a visual learner) but I don't think that a person should go overboard with it either. It was very rare for a pastor/minister to do an ilustrative sermon back in the day because that's all we had was the word of God as it should be today. I just can't stand It when a pastor feels that he has to begin preaching with a joke. I go to church to hear the word of God. If I want comedy I will stay home and watch television. Laughing doesn't prepare me for God's word, the jokes always detract from it. So why do they still do it?
They do it for several reasons, to lighten up the atmosphere (to rid it of a religious or business-like stuffiness), to endear themselves to them, make people feel happy, to gain their attention in a smooth way, because they've been taught to do it in seminary, because they hear others do it and assume it is effective, and some just want to look wise. Many of us laymen do tell jokes to our friends all the time. There's nothing wrong with it, even Spurgeon utilized it in his sermons on occasion. But it depends on the occasion and on the sermon. For instance, on Resurrection Day, I think a joke is unwarranted, the same goes for something tragic that has occurred, like a death in the congregation, or 9/11, or the Nashville shooting. But when all is well, a proper joke can lighten the burdens that some or even many have brought to church with them, which clears their heads to hear better.
Some do it at EVERY service. Jesus lightens my burdens so I don't need the perfunctory "joke" before the sermon. Did Jesus tell jokes before they sermon on the mount? I'm hungry for the Gospel and I don't need to laugh because the Gospel is NOT a laughing matter. I take it seriously and I expect a pastor to take it seriously as well.
Reading the Bible is like going to school or taking medicine. Not everyone wants to do it, but it’s necessary to get and have what is needed. But this world nowadays only aims for what they want, or if one must so quaintly say it, desires.
The Apostle Paul says in Romans,'Do not be conformed to the world( systems and secularism),but be ye transformed by the 'renewing of your mind"( get in the Word of God)! Blessings
I just subscribed to your channel and I love it. I just want to say, some things we should not be worried about and aren't even worth mentioning. I think we as Christians and Followers of Christ need to concentrate on the Bible and not what other Churches, Christians, or Pastors are doing. Sir, This video was well articulated and full of grace and truth. It's all about the motive of why you engage in the theatrics! Heck, a person can preach with zero theatrics and have a terrible motive. You asked a great question when you asked, "Why do you do what you do?" I am not one who is drawn to all the extra theater personally, but it is unwise to condemn people for no other reason than they are extra theatrical. I think you did a great job of helping people to judge with righteous judgement in this matter. Of course, it's often hard to know the motive of a person unless God shows it to you. That's why he said that man judges the outward appearance, but God judges the heart.

A church I once attended did a production loosely based on the movie Avatar, with costumes, etc. I was confused. Needless to say, that was my last Sunday of attendance. Spiritually, I just didn't get it.
I’m a millennial and it’s just too much for me. I grew up in the church and old school. I strayed as an adult, but I try to watch sermons on CZcams. I used to watch Transformation Church but there were just too many 🚩 for me. The Easter service was confirmation that I made the right choice.

This is why I don't like most churches. It may not be a sin or it could be in some ways. I think its a waste of time and a distraction. Where the sin could possibly be is making things man centered in some displays of entertainment to hype the people up instead of just giving bible.
Jesus looks at the heart. Why are they feeling the need to do these things rather than share the gospel? The reason behind what they’re doing is certainty sinful.
My humble opinion is this... We can either lean on our own understanding or have a relationship with the Lord... However, we are all at different stages... The truth will set us free... So keep speaking and living the truth... Our Lord will do the rest... When it comes to how to tackle this... we need to keep in prayer and fast and be patient for the Lord to direct us... That will be done with the Holy Spirit... It is best to say nothing until the Lord gives us confirmation... Just because we read and study the Word... unless we do that guided by the Holy Spirit... then we will never have the discernement needed Life is spiritual warfare... First we must repent fully... You're wrong about this one. It's 100% sin. They're completely out of line: "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil." (Ecc 5: 1)
There is definitely a line that can be crossed when it comes to things being unwise to being sinful. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the theatrics however I think the problem Lies when people are drawn to the theatrics rather than Christ. I think these preachers who want to do these full Productions, just do that as special releases. You have the resources, you have the people with the expertise and skill to make dope content that could be considered art, just release that. But there has to be a plain preaching of the word, reading of scripture when it comes to the assembly of our body of Believers. If they're not getting it on Sunday morning, are they getting it from a reliable source during the week?

I just subscribed to your channel and I love it. I just want to say, some things we should not be worried about and aren't even worth mentioning. I think we as Christians and Followers of Christ need to concentrate on the Bible and not what other Churches, Christians, or Pastors are doing. We shouldn't waste our time worrying about things that do not matter or things that we cannot change. If we do, it feels like we are judging others even if it seems we aren't. Blessings to you!

I am not one who is drawn to all the extra theater personally, but it is unwise to condemn people for no other reason than they are extra theatrical. I think you did a great job of helping people to judge with righteous judgement in this matter.
Of course, it's often hard to know the motive of a person unless God shows it to you. That's why he said that man judges the outward appearance, but God judges the heart.

A church I once attended did a production loosely based on the movie Avatar, with costumes, etc. I was confused. Needless to say, that was my last Sunday of attendance. Spiritually, I just didn't get it.
I’m a millennial and it’s just too much for me. I grew up in the church and old school. I strayed as an adult, but I try to watch sermons on CZcams. I used to watch Transformation Church but there were just too many 🚩 for me. The Easter service was confirmation that I made the right choice.

This is why I say if you are a new Christians of today's Christianity the way things are done in church. Can be dangerous for the person,their soul that really wants to know God I am 56 and I am Thankful to the pastor I had in the 70s,80s,and 90s cause this was not done to help us know and understand God back in my time. Just the true Word of God. I don't understand how this new way of teaching the word is going to change the people. Forgive them God for they Know not what they are doing Amen? Amen.🙏😔

This is why I don't like most churches. It may not be a sin or it could be in some ways. I think its a waste of time and a distraction. Where the sin could possibly be is making things man centered in some displays of entertainment to hype the people up instead of just giving bible.

They're completely out of line:

There is definitely a line that can be crossed when it comes to things being unwise to being sinful. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the theatrics however I think the problem Lies when people are drawn to the theatrics rather than Christ. I think these preachers who want to do these full Productions, just do that as special releases.
You have the resources, you have the people with the expertise and skill to make dope content that could be considered art, just release that. But there has to be a plain preaching of the word, reading of scripture when it comes to the assembly of our body of Believers. If they're not getting it on Sunday morning, are they getting it from a reliable source during the week?
