I could not express my thoughts any better than those from Phil Anderson below, a man I watch with the same interest as I do with your work Gary. You give this disabled 'old man' so much pleasure. JUST BRILLIANT!
Thanks so much Donald. I truly appreciate your comment. I also watch Phil.
He does wonderful work and is a great guy.
Take care my friend,
Gary
Beautiful work. Who are the oddballs who would give this a thumbs down??
Thank you very much. Hard to say but I know I appreciate all those who gave it a thumbs up.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Very nice finished bowl. I wish that I could still be doing what you do. I am getting very board on disability, but your show always lifts up again.
Thank you Robert and I also wish you could as well. I can tell you would really like to be able to.
All my best,
Gary

Lot of painstaking work and patience needed, awesome job Gary. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Gary not sure where I found the patience. I have a hard time waiting a week to finish a green turned bowl.. LOL
Thanks for watching.
Gary

Thank you Dina and I am happy you enjoy them. I have another one coming up that is not like this but made of many pieces I hope you will like. Not this week but perhaps the following week. Firsts some odd pieces of wood from our yard.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Gary
Absolutely beautiful, Gary. Like you said - it was a lot of work but in the end it was well worth it. That's another art gallery worthy piece.
Simply incredible!! What an astounding piece of work! Your patience is amazing. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Martin they are lots of fun to make.
Right now my mind is working on another design.

Yes to sanding paste and polishing paste videos with recipes. Beautiful bowl, with particularly nice choice of colors. Well done!!
Thank you Valerie and I will get the polishing paste video done soon. Within a few days I will have it up.
Gary
ThePapa1947 Wonderful. Just tried Ack’s, and seems as good as Yorkshire Grit. Would love to try making my own, since I do like using a sanding paste.
Valerie here is the link to the video of the abrasive sanding paste I made. I will be doing a video for the polishing past which is even easier.
czcams.com/video/6iA9enSpa98/video.html
I am sure most of all the abrasive paste works the same. I figure for the cost of buying some of them I can make about 100 ounces. And I am a bit cheap. If I can make it I probably will. Besides it is fun and sort of like cooking. And I am a decent cook LOL.
Gary
Love love love the dizzy projects that you so masterly turn. I have retired in 2015 and been trying my hand at wood turning on a mini lathe {10 x 25} . The question I have after watching this video is the center of the top rings become waste as I donot like to waste expensive wood either. Again your videos are excellent. please send me the steps for yor finish and the products you use, Thank you in advance and God bless.
Gary Wagner
Thank you Gary! Most of my dizzy bowls start out as one laminated board about 1.25" thick. I then slice them down to around .2" I then cut rings out of each of those boards and there is no waste at all. That was the same process for the upper part of this vase.
Thank you for watching and God Bless you as well.
Gary(the Oregon version)
Here are a few videos on the finishes I use. If you need more information I can help you out with that.

That is an incredible piece of craftsmanship. The elaborate detail is stunning. You are a very talented wood turner.
Well thank you very much that is very kind of you to say. I truly appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.
Gary
Absolutely GORGEOUS !! Thank you for all of your great videos but THIS one is out of the ball park !!
I'm going to try to make one for my wife as a surprise !!
Thanks so much Art. Best of luck with making one for you wife.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,
Gary
Wow. Time. Patience. Precision. Perfection.
It kinda makes this piece unsellable, or damn expensive.
Good work. Loved watching the process.
Thank you Glen I appreciate your comments.
It would be hard for me to put a price on anything like this. But I do not sell what I make so problem solved.
Even watching a video does not come close to showing the work involved. I have had friends tell me that...Wow I bet you could get $50.00 for that. I just grin and say...yes I bet you are right.
Thanks again for watching.
Take care,
Gary
Beautiful absolutely stunning you sir must have the patience of a saint thank you so much for showing
Thank you Nick I appreciate the comment. I guess patience came with old age so I have LOTS of that.
Thank you for watching.
Gary
What a masterpiece. I’ve got to admit the vase did make me slightly dizzy as my eyes are very sensitive to colours rotating like that. But I sat it out just to see the end product. 👏👏👏
I really enjoyed watching your process and then when it all comes together. Wow, what a beautiful piece of art.
Thanks so much Stanley. I have another one with a long process coming up that you might like.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Very unique. I really like the diversity and the glow it projects. ❣️❤️❣️
It's beautiful! I like seeing the process
Thank you Judith, they are fun to make but do take a lot of time.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
nice to see some Australian wood used, Jarrah and Bloodwood
Yes I do love the Australian woods. We have a hardwood store not far away called Outback Hardwood. Fairly new store and I have not been there as they were not open much in the last year. I think they are now so I will need to make a trip to see what I can get.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful piece, Gary! Love the choice of woods and that finish... wow.
Billy
Thanks Billy I appreciate the comment. I can't say for sure how many coats of lacquer I really put on. There was lots for sure. I allowed myself the luxury of taking my time on this one and not getting in a hurry to finish it. The first video was done on April 10 and the pictures were taken on June 3. Most of the time was glue drying and finish drying.
I left it in the same chuck the whole time. That is my excuse for owning many chucks. And I was turning things during the waiting time. It is hard not to want to just finish it..LOL
Well its 11PM here in Oregon so it must be O-dark thirty in Texas!
Thanks for watching my friend,
Gary
Beautiful vase. Thanks for the video on how to make it!!...........Cheers, Jim

Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.
Gary
Absolutely beautiful work! I made your sanding paste last week, and it is magic. A real game changer. I've got an idea of the composition of the final paste, I'll be looking forward to that video to see if I'm close. Thanks so much for your videos, inspiration and knowledge. Amazing!!!
WOW what a masterpiece it is amazingly stunning just beautiful
Thank you Donald I am glad you like it. I enjoy making turnings like this. It is a slow process but for me worth it.
Thanks again my friend,

Gary
Wow that's beautiful!
Thank you very much I am glad you like it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Gary
This is truly a beautiful piece, you are talented my friend, thanks for sharing
Gary, that is stunning! Obviously tedious and time consuming but well worth the effort. Really enjoyed watching it come together. A beautiful piece!
Thank you Pamela. Yes it can be tedious but what I do is get started and stagger the steps so not doing all of the same thing at one time.
Thanks for watching.
Gary
This is stunning Gary I love the choice of woods and the quality , patience and dedication you have for wood turning and yes please to the polishing paste please
Thank you very much Steven I appreciate you saying that. And I have my hot plate warming up and getting ready to make the video for the polishing paste. Should be ready Wednesday.

Thanks for watching.
Gary
Just awesome. And a wonderful video, too: very clear explanation of your process.
Thank you David, it was hard to edit it down and still try to explain how I went about doing it. I am happy to hear is was clear to understand.
Thanks again,
Gary
An amazing piece of work Gary , and what a fantastic finish .
Cheers mate, Bram
Beautiful project! Very nicely done. 😊
Thank you Loren I really enjoy making them. They are fun but do have a lot of cutting gluing. But worth it and I am pleased that you like it.
Thanks for watching.

Wow Gary, that’s beautiful! Excellent job on the vIdeo explaining what you were doing also. Thanks for sharing. You are very talented!
Thank you very much Bob it means a lot that you could follow my explanation. I am so use to just doing things I want to make sure it is understandable. I appreciate hearing that feedback.
Thanks again,
Gary
Hey Gary. I found yet another oldie. I just love watching you do segments!! Maybe you could do one with everything, start to finish? Yes I know you can't. Another fabulous project. Thanks for sharing your creativity with me again. Stay safe, Vickie
Thank you Vickie and I would love to do one from start to finish but it would be a 20 hour video on some of the. But I do try and show a little of every process.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Absolutely beautiful!
No problem at all! Really love the dedication to this, must have taken a while with all the drying. I watch lots of turning videos as I do some turning myself, gotta learn from the men that have been doin it for years.
Astounding, Gary! You showed so many talents in creating this piece, patience being just one. You also showed your confidence as a turner. At any point, if there was a catch or any other whoopsie, all your hard work would have been for nothing. But, you knew that wasn't going to happen. I will never create anything like this but I'm glad you did! Very entertaining to watch and listen to your explanations and thought processes. And then, you have the finished product! It's beautiful! The finish you achieved with your new polishing paste is fantastic! Great job all the way, start to finish! Keep'em coming!
Phil
Well thank you very much Phil. When I started it I knew it was going to be awhile before it was finished. If I only had one chuck it would have been a different story. It never came off the chuck and I have plenty more so I did lots of turning in between. Well over a month from start to finish. Only working on it for a short time a day while gluing.
Trust me I was happy when I reached the sandpaper stage.Even happier when it was time for finish.
Next weeks will the kind of odd stuff you like to do. And I was more tense doing that one than this one. You will see why!
Thanks again buddy,
Gary
