Your absolutely right it defeats the purpose of being found guilty Have some unfortunate dealings with their justice system. It is corrupt but still more serious than the US. They don't really do bail to start, you commit any kind of serious crime you are sitting in a cell for years waiting for trial Because they lock up so many people most end up being innocent anyway which stinks. They also do bonds or cash like the US They just make it hard to take off. Checking in a couple times a day, ankle monitors, surveillance, always take any kind of travel documents
