Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

Okay, the neighbor husband interaction has to be a staple in every vid now.
I loved it! Home Improvement was one of my favorite shows growing up.
@@jeniedwards5999 mine too
Definitely the new Al Boreland
I mean Wilson the new Wilson
It reminded me of that show back in the day Home Improvement. When Tim Allen talk to mr. Wilson over the fence
That "talking to the neighbor over the fence" segment gave me definite Home Improvement with Tim Allen vibes
Right? Except Wilson was wise 😆
I think we are showing our age. 😂🤣
Hidey Ho Tim!
Watering the pepper plants while wife's organizing, LOL!! That's the cherry on an already hilarious vid!!
I think I now have more IKEA hex keys than any other tool in my entire garage.
I think every piece of furniture that you have to put together comes with an Allen wrench 🤣
Even the fire alarm at my work has an Allen wrench instead of a key to open the box🤦
do as we do, throw them away
I keep them all perhaps I'll make something out of them someday 😉
So true.
My husband and I have a routine for putting together IKEA furniture that we worked out when we first got married and purchased a crib for our daughter. He starts off with tossing the directions to one side, follows with turning up his nose at the Allen wrench, and then getting his electric tools. Once he reaches stage 3 or 4, Breaking ng Point, I come in and using only the Allen wrench, I deconstruct and then reconstruct the piece of furniture. Once completed, and after he's had a nice soothing beer, I point to the areas that need tightening with his electric power tools.
Works well for us. (I've always been the IKEA furniture whiz for some reason).
This kind of thing happened in my family when my first grandchild was born. Four people, three of them engineers, struggled to assemble an ikea crib, then it had to go upstairs and into another room. Good times!
I'm sure the engineers didn't look at the directions, either. "I don't care what the directions say, this part HAS to go first"...
Yeah my husband’s the opposite. He never throws away the instructions. Like things are built but he keeps the instructions forever and ever.
Yes, I do need the instructions to that washing machine, I don't care that we sold it over 10 years ago! What if we get another one and it doesn't come with the instructions?!
Mine is the same. And if we sell it, he makes sure to give the instructions with ❤️
Don’t forget the box anything comes in as well
My husband is both these things. Doesn't look at instructions but keeps it for an eternity 😂
You need em on the damn cribs to put the toddler bar on in 2 yrs
I modified an allen wrench so it fits into a drill. Best 30 minutes I’ve ever spent.
They make those just fyi. Called hex bits. You know just in case you ever need a different size.
@@buttertoast117 now ya tell me haha
Stage 1 is always “I can make that myself” 😂😂
Hahaaa! That’s my husband too. lol
My Dad was a quiet man who rarely pulled pranks. When a car had some issue with the engine, instead of taking it to the shop he figured he could fix it with the help of Chiltons. Six months later he finally had it repaired. He had kept all the broken and worn out parts he'd replaced in a cardboard box. When he was showing Mom the car was up and running right again, he put the box in the backseat. "What's that?" "Oh, that's the stuff I couldn't figure out where it went so I figured I'd just keep it in the car for you so if it breaks again, you can just show the mechanic the box and maybe he can figure out what is wrong." Mom's face was priceless. 😂😂
😳😯😲🤔😅😂🤣😂
@@stacybroussard3097 Your use of emojis was absolutely impeccable. Thank you
😂
😂😂
“Wanna move to Mexico?”
“...Yep!”
Watering the pepper plants with the stolen hose was the best part.
Plot twist: The baby doesn't even sleep in the crib 😂🤣🤣
😲😯😳😅🤣😂🤣
Yup. Hates it on sight...screams blue bloody murder the moment you put him in it.
This is too real! As a woodworker, I’m able to build one of these faster than I can assemble this. It’s the equivalent of a guitar player not being able to play the song on Guitar Hero level medium. Love the video, bro!
Love how in all of the building ones they throw away the instructions and then end up needing them
I mean… I just needed them a little though…
He's got a point..
I could never put Ikea furniture together without the instructions!
And never realizes the instructions are online so he always has to read around spaghetti sauce
@@audiorage82407 And downloadable 😂😂😂😂😂
This was literally my hubby this weekend! Down to the exact crib…and the wrong room assembly 😒😒
Been there, done that.
I’m thankful my husband kept the instructions when it came time to put the crib and dresser together lol 😂
I love the neighbor. Should have more of him in the videos.
Our first live premiere for a video - Hop into the live chat!
That was a great conversation with the neighbor! I love it!
My husband and I just watched this and my husband reacted to this like someone watching a football game! A lot of “oh nos, yup that’ll happens, aww I hate thats, and yes that’s it!” Lol
I put everything together since my husband will lose his mind doing it. Even the trashcan liner that's a bit snug. I put our sons crib together without any help. Girl power! Can totally relate to this. LOL!
Same here and I definitely go through these stages! 😂
Same, although I read the directions and usually don't have to take anything apart because I did it right the first time time! 😅
My husband just takes too long to get to it. I’ll be asking him every day for 2 weeks before he actually does it 😒
Same. It's much quicker to go step by step myself than to rescue my hubby from circling through two steps forward and three steps back, repeatedly!
I assemble IKEA too and love it!
.... unless when the parts don't really fit or something is missing or broken...
Oh my gosh the throwing away of the instructions!! My husband did that with the kids Christmas toys and hours later…… lol!!
“Is that my hose?”
“I think so. I got it out of your shed”
That was my favorite line 😂😂😂
As a guy who build furniture like this for a living I can say this is accurate building in the store, but add a couple more steps in between. Turn a screw help a customer, turn a screw help a customer. After 8 hrs it's finally built if it was a complex build. Display and secure it, and a few days later the district manager tells you to move it to the other side of dept and next week tells you to move it back. If your unlucky enough someone would sell said display and you have to do it all over again. Believe me it does not get easier because you had it built once before and you have to do it again.
They should make simpler furniture kits that require a drill to assemble. Symmetric pieces, 1 or 2 kinds of hardware only. Just put it together and drive the screws in simple.
No word of a lie, my nephew took his crib apart when he was 18 mos old. His Mum went to get him up one morning , found him holding a screwdriver and sitting on parts of his crib.
They make those. They even make fully-assembled furniture. It's just more expensive and more difficult to get home.
Buy the Allen wrench adapter/bit for $5 at the hardware store. Most of their stuff uses the same size wrench anyway.
Haha,
I will watc this, not before my ordered whole IKEA Kitchen is done.
I am an IKEA W#0r3. I loved the "Husbands of IKEA" video. This ought to be fun.
Thank you for all the laughs! Recently discovered your videos on Facebook and I so appreciate them!🤗 God bless you and your family 🧡
I loved this!! The wanna move to Mexico definitely sums up the feeling of frustration!!
I was waiting for when you go to the garage and get the proper tools.
I had a client hire me to build ALOT OF IKEA FURNITURE. IMMEDIATELY bought a Allen key drill bit set. Set drill to 7 torque best 13 dollars ever spent.
Can you recommend a drill like you described?
You think it’s finally done and then you’ve got it upside down and backwards! #throwingwrenches
I don't know how many times I've done that. And I even look at the directions 🤦
Bought a bike-in-a-box for my eldest for Christmas last year. Followed the instructions, got it upright, and looked at it. Something's wrong. I'd put the handlebars on backwards and upsidedown.
I never understood how people have so much problems with ikea furniture. Just read the instructions and follow them. 📖👍Always works out perfect
I agree. My husband and I love putting together IKEA furniture, and we always follow the instructions. It really does make it so much easier and seamless to do.
Indeed, ego aside and rtfm 👍
Even I can put together IKEA furniture, lol. But that's about the extent of my carpentry skills!
Yay!!! A new video for my Birthday 🎉
Okay I notice a problem. Not following instructions and use a microscope how to orient the nanometre-scale drawn hole orientations on the objectively similar pieces. Only after the tenth time your wife points out that there are actually different hole patterns you start to see it (sometimes). Its like the blue or gold dress.
Oh yeah this will be goods!
Can totally relate to this ! I built my daughters play kitchen from ikea and when it came time for my husband to move it to my daughter's room he was Like
"Why is it so flimsy?" And "where are the rest of the screws?"
I gave him a baggie of the rest of the screws and he started to laugh!! 😆
I generally just add a full days labor to the cost of ikea furniture.
This is my favorite video that you've done. So true, and love the neighbor interaction! 😂
I love dude dad!!! keep it goin dude!!! hahah
Spoiler. They have Ikea in Mexico too.
🤣🤣🤣
When putting together ikea furniture the most important thing-follow instruction, second- you cant do it alone :D been there, done that 🤣
Hey guys! Love the videos! I received my t-shirt today! Love it! Great color, fit and quality. As funny as this sounds.....it smells good too! Keep up the awesomeness! 🥰
Your neighbor Wilson had us rolling!!! Best scene ever!
Yeah the break step should be in the instructions. Or ikea should include a couple beers with every kit...
Epic video!! Love it 🤣🤣
This is SO me!!!!! Hahahahaa
My husband reads instructions and is patient and takes his time, while I go through all the stages 😭🤣
Got my crib at Walmart for like $80 15 years ago. Was super simple to put together. Really didn't need instructions. Now they have some really nice pack n play type cribs. I would've probably used one of those if they'd been nicer at that time. No assembly really needed. Just unfold it.
This is a great one!!!!
Hilarious!!! Love the guy with the hose!!
So relatable! Just put together a couple Omars..
DJ in as many videos as possible moving forward, please 👍so funny when Taylor teams up with him onscreen.
I get flak for always reading the instructions but I get it together without any problems and quickly.
“Yeah I think so. I got it out of your shed” had me dying.
Sometimes we all gotta' water the pepper plants. BTW did she call you Tay?
LOL if there was no mention of her headache here...I'm certain you actually have one. Neighboor, hopefully he will return the hose, not until its frozen I bet. Loved this one keep it up.
I love y’all…and the neighbor. Well he’s a whole mood. More of him
Ok I nearly peed my pants seeing the neighbor watering the plants. There didn't need to be any interaction at all hahaha
Hope you get your bedroom back.
Got a 4 and a 1.5 year old, still ain't got ours back completely lol.
on those little allen wrenches... they little side can be cut off or grinded off then the long side fits in an impact drill.... strip out everything... boom!
I’m pretty sure that whoever has issues with assembling IKEA furniture, didn’t really play LEGO as a kid…
Yeah like I get he's doing a bit but Ikea is the gold standard of easy-to-assemble cheap-but-still-decent furniture. You ever tried to put together a kitchen hutch from Christmas Tree Shops? I still get flashbacks about that. *shudders*
My stages are yelling curse words - vowing to invade Sweden - walking away for three hours - then finishing it when the wife yells to get it out of the living room.....
😂😂 nailed it!!!
The joke is - IKEA instructions are great!
The meltdown with the impact and deck screws triggered me a bit… I feel attacked.
This is definitely one of your best the whole neighbor thing has me dying 😂
Y'all hit the nail on the head.🔨🔨🔨
I’m Swedish and I love assembling IKEA furnitures 🙈😅
This is the new and way improved Home Improvement. With Wilson.
Every piece should have a QR code that points to the instructions online.
Brilliant!
Then I’d throw out my phone
You need to submit this idea to them
My hubby did exactly this.
You guys are spot on. 👌
Otto is sooo adorable
I love putting together Ikea furniture!
After assembling many a piece from IKEA , I've come to the conclusion that all their engineers are left handed.
Taylor, never throw away the pictorial instructions. I guess that's a thing with men? Anytime I have to build an IKEA piece with my sweetie, I'm always telling him, "dude, wait, look at the pictures. Says a thousand words. And keeps me from yelling at you."
Hope the crib works well for your family!
We don’t need them! For the most part
@@DudeDad 😹
@@DudeDad 😂
Hysterical and Accurate!!!!
Beautiful home!
A gear wrench with an allen bit works perfectly for those little holes
I felt this !!!!!! 😂😂😂
1:20 This is TOTALLY me!!!
Love it!
Every vid you make a wife joke that I 100% relate to
Ok I cant stop laughing. That was better than any sitcom
Ngl I have totally been there!! So relatable!
When the instructions say takes 90 minutes to assemble.
Meh I can do it in 30!!
2 hours later...
Honey!!! We're gonna need another bed!!
😂🤣😂🤣
I HOWLED with laughter 🤣🤣🤣😅
I love it, SO true!!!
I was waiting for those three inch deck screws to rip open the mattress.
Funny how the impact driver came late to the party...
Spot on! 😂
“I think so. I got it out of your shed.” 😂
The struggle is real putting cribs together
My dad. Gets so aggressive. With deck screws 😂😂😂😂 I totally get it
Finally, I was waiting for the drill to be busted out😎
Who was that neighbor dude? He was a trip! LOL! 😂
This is why I am the designated Ikea assembly person. My daughter even called me for help with her MALM dresser. 🤣 Thank God for video chat!
🤣 Aw precious baby 💟
Always build with instructions!
The part with the neighbor is classic
Loved it.
That about sums it up.
