We currently live in Thailand. Going on our 15th month here. We paid $397.00 a month for a condo called Bell Condo. Now we pay $440.00 for a place that also has a pool, but has a gym too. We are thinking of moving to Bali. How much is your place a month please?
We overpaid for our villa. We were charged 16 million rupiah ($1,200 US) per month and we stayed for 6 weeks. We definitely paid way too much and the locals and some other expats said we paid too much. We didn't negotiate well. Our next villa was a shared space and we paid about $900 per month there. If you choose a location and rent it for 3 or more months, you will get a better discount. We were unable to do that.

I HAVE 3 COUNTRIES IN MIND TO GO AND RETIRE WITH WIFE...THAILAND, PHILLIPINES, INDONESIA...MAYBE VIETNAM OR SRILANKA...CAN PEOPLE SUGGEST....WHERE LIFE IS A BREEZE..NOT VERY DULL OR QUIET...ACTIVITY CLOSEBY...WEATHER PLEASANT...SHOWERS AT TIME...LIVING, RELAXED AND NOT VERY EXPENSIVE...PERHAPS SOME HOME HELP...AND PEOPLE , RESPECTABLE TO ELDERS/FOREIGNERS...NOT A VERY TOURISTIC PLACE, BUT WHERE ONE CAN INTERACT WITH LOCALS

Ours was $1200 per month. We didn't negotiate well. However if you look around and are staying there for more than three months, you will get and can negotiate a much better rate. There are closed groups on facebook that are specifically for renting in Bali such as, Bali Villas.

I was there 1980 was nice place to visit, now with so many bules' living there the traffic worst than kuta
We really enjoyed it! Some traffic is bad but we enjoyed being on the motorbike anyway!
