- Amazon sells some cheesiest and worst quality car modifications on the internet - so we wanted to see if any of them are worth buying. We spent £500 on 10 different mods with everything from a set of bonnet vents to a huge rear wing.
We actually bought a rear wing on Amazon for £70
We let you guys decide between a Prius, a Multipla, a PT Cruiser and an Aztek and THIS is what you voted as your most hated car.
Neither me or Callum wanted to drive the PT Cruiser home, so there was only one way to decide.
After the most uninspiring drive I’ve ever had, we finally made it back to the office. Scott was definitely impressed…

Put the PT in a wind tunnel to see if any of the mods you just did make it more aerodynamic
Even better, put in on a Dyno to test horsepower gains from the aero mods. The hood vent and scoop probably add 5HP each, the chin spoiler another 5, and the wing must be good for 20!

I hear Red Bull have just freed up some wind tunnel time to help make this a reality (...at least that's how Horner's spinning it, the spare capacity is absolutely not due to any impropriety on their part, they just wanted to properly understand the PT's potential)

That doesn't use a compressor, its a vibrating disc with a rivet hit by that electric motor. Either the striker or rivet broke.

@@sleek86 No it is a Klaxon horn it has no compressor and will work if wired backwards. I've fixed plenty of those some of which being close to 100 years old and worked on a crank. Watch Technology Connections video on Klaxon horns for way WAY more info on car horns.
I find it somewhat funny that Donut Media bought to Euro cars to do this stuff and Driven bought an American car. Good fun.

This is too good for the internet. Will's monologue when first driving the PT Cruiser was hilarious, with no gimmicks - and it just kept going. My goodness guys. Seriously, it's great to watch something entertaining on CZcams, especially automotive CZcams, laugh my ass off, and still feel like an adult afterwards.

This could be a semi-serious and potentially funny test: Fit opposite wheels with the most expensive tyres you can get, and the other side the cheapest tyres you can get. then do acceleration, braking and cornering tests.

1100 for a car in that good of condition and they ruin it. I don't like the pt cruiser but don't ruin a perfectly good one. That car was in great condition especially considering over half of them were lemons.

That wing, with a few arduinos and servos, could be an active aero-brake.
Then its the PT Cruiser RS Sport AMG GTR S L M-Sport Plaid.
I remember Gran Turismo 3 back in the day. Loved messing with the tuning to eek out a bit over 400 horsepower out of a PT Cruiser. Those were the days.
I drive a PT Cruiser that was given to me by a relative, and I must say, after I put in some time driving it, tearing it apart, repairing it, and once starting it with an allen key instead of the car key, I have developed a real fondness for it. It can be a pain in the butt to only be able to open the window by taking the switch module out of the dash and pushing on the back of it while pressing down the switch, but it's quircky like me and I love it.
The horn should have been called 'Hornda type R' 😂
I hated those until one day a customer brought his PT Cruiser in for some tires. I got in, realized it was manual, realized it had a BOV and turbo, he said you'll be suprised this thing rips. We go for a quick pull and I'm blown away how hard this thing ripped. The PT is a "I'd hate to love it" kind of car.
Oh yeah, like the other guy said, it's basically an SRT4 or whatever it's called, the PR models with a turbo are essentially the same exact engine

Yeah even the auto turbo models are under 7 seconds for 0 to 60
The dashcam - I didn't buy a crappy cheap one like that (mine was about £140), but it was one of the best purchases I've made and have been using it for almost 2 years without issue. It gives much a better view as you don't have a whole car to look through, and it can easily see into blind spots with it's wide angle lens. Recording front and back is also a blessing. At night lights are dazzling, but they are through a normal mirror anyway. If you are thinking of getting one, definetly don't cheap out on it and look to spend around £150.
there's pros and cons for that design. wider rear mirror is good for visibility, I was able to see through the rear passenger door. That particular one was a right hand camera, but most are left hand camera, meaning it wasn't always a good position, favouring more of the left of the windscreen view. The size also counted against it, as they were often hit by the visor, but may be ok on larger vehicles. I personally would avoid rear view mirror dash cams, but I wouldn't write them off
you should test the structural integrity of the PT as it passes through the crusher at your local salvage yard!
1000x this, one more PT cruiser off the road.
Obviously, you have to do the moose test with the PT Cruiser, but you should also do that thing where it gets a head start in races with a Ferrari Pista to see at what point it wins. (I recommend, once again, that you make this a series and call it "Pista Résistance.")

For the vents, you should have used a heat gun to soften them and make them fit better... like it really mattered 😁
was thinking that too, especially considering they just did the wrap on the subaru. you'd think they'd have heat guns on the brain after that. lol

I'm thinking some rally style mud flaps (big and floppy, and red so they stand out). Also some vortex generator fins and maybe a rear diffuser.

personally never understood the hate for these things. has a lot more character than the modern angular cars that all look the same! at least they tried to do something different.
I'm not sure why people hate them. Perhaps they aged bad, I recall back in the day (take my opinion with a grain of salt I was just a kid back then) the PT Cruiser was kinda cool with the retro style similar to the Prowler
@@Seb-Storm I feel like they have aged better than a lot of the stuff from the era. precisely because at a first glance you could mistake it for something much older than it is. i hate to use the word timeless because it has strong connotations and I'm not exactly a super fan but I think it applies here, if it was released today people would praise it as something cool retro and more importantly unique.

For a start, fit the all of the vents properly, if you can get rid of the heat building up under the bonnet the engine temperature *should* stabilize. Good luck with making a Subaru Supercar fast.

Loving the content lads! Reminiscent of top gear but much more pure! Hot rod the s**t out of it then send it to the bangers DD event!
It is hard to choose a worst/most embarrassing mod but the exhaust whistle takes the gold for me. It also brings me joy that the UK was blessed with the gift of the PT Loser. It is the pinnacle of American engineering and design. Nothing we can do will ever live up to it.
I come from a community built around a CZcams channel called Vilebrequin, I love what you do we find the same energy to break cars for fun and a little also for science! They did the same with a multipla and made it a pure war machine shown at the Mondial of Paris

There are 2 pt cruisers near me that are i think owned by same people which have the same wing but with flame paint many stickers and white wall tyres they look amazingly hilarious props to them tho on the efforts they put into them
The fact that you spent more money on a PT Cruiser than I spent on my daily speaks volumes about the PT Cruiser.
you should test lift kits and mud tires. that would be an interesting thing for this little pt.

I don't know if it'd work in practice but my idea is to totally refit the PT and try to make it into a really good car. Like for example, put in the engine from a type R and the dash from an old jag and so on, make a Frankenstein car.
The turbo versions have the srt4 motor I think just do that 🤪

I put a double bladed rear wing on my 2005 Ford explorer a couple years ago and people hated it. I left it on my car until I sold it earlier this year

My first car was a bright yellow PT-Cruiser, it took thrice as much time to have heat during winter and once the coolant was spilling over and my car thus overheated and I had no visibility, I had to push the car alone during the night. My front-right wheel almost came off while I was driving at 90km/h on a tight country road. There was also an oil leak and eventually my mother borrowed it and gave that PT Cruiser the coup de grâce, at the end I couldn't turn the engine on without having my ears destroyed.
I had it for half a year and did alot of maintenance on it.
I love my pt cruiser!! Wonderful little cars! Yes I’ll admit there a little hard to work on. But I love my pt cruiser so much that I have the patience to work with it!! It’s my dream car! There so comfortable and I love the retro design! There beautiful cars to me!!

The PT Cruiser in 2000 was an absolute game changer back when it was released in 2000. It was a car that was really really hard to get ahold of and dealers were marking the prices up because of the high demand. Over time people though realized it was not much more than a Neon in a different wrapper.

im saddened by the ah-oo-ga horn. my friend got one from Autozone (usa parts store) and it was insanely loud and sounded like a horn from the 1920s/30s. it was epic in a late 90s heavily modified 2G Eclipse! haha

The wing I had on a 1987 Nissan 200sx v6 in 2004 brought from what is now ebay, a flee market. It lasted a year then at the base of the wing deck one of the supports sheared from the wing base. Took the wing off but left the supports on the car lolol. Also had the mirror camera.......... doesn't last very long lol
