Hello Folks and Hey Bear,
I work in construction and started listening to Nateland 16 months ago when I started my own business. I started in episode one and listened to every single episode in order while I remodel people’s bathrooms. Today I finally caught up and listened to my first episode in real time with the rest of the folks. After listening patiently for 378 hours over 16 months I can finally write in and listen to see if my comment gets read next week just like everyone else. Let’s go folks!!!
In all seriousness, it’s been a tough year for our family with a difficult job change, moving across the country, and my wife battling cancer. I needed some friends, and laughing through my work day with Aaron, Nate, Dusty and Brigham Young has been a breath of fresh air.
The good news is my business is doing well, my wife is now cancer free, we just saw Breakfast and Nate live on my wife’s birthday in Kansas City, and we are definately having a good time.

What Nate said about Elvis is so spot on. When you’re a performer, people are paying for YOU. They may have saved up for months for the tickets. To that fan it may be a once in a lifetime event. For you it’s just Sioux Falls. It’s not for you, it’s for the fans. Such a great take Nate.
I was also moved by this part of the podcast. Everything I love about Nateland in that swerve! The best is the zing on South Dakota for not having enough mic stands!!

Last October he canceled a show in Indianapolis to do snl. Is that being considerate of the fans?
I've watched the SNL skits several times. So, I would say, yes, yes, it was a nice gift to all the fans.
In college, our neighbor bought a treadmill off Craigslist with the goal of walking at least 10 miles a day. After using it 4-5 days per week for nearly 3 months, he realized it was set to kilometers. In total, he was under his goal by 250 miles (more than 5 Rhode Islands)

It's milk that hasn't been pasteurized to death. Good probiotics are still in for better gut health.
When my oldest was in middle school and sick from strep throat, he was on antibiotics a lot. We worked hard to rebuild his gut health with acidophilus milk, yogurts, among other healthy options.
Tastes the same, and some would argue, better.
Customer service is a lost art. People don't own their jobs anymore. Nate often says, "You gotta put in the work." And "Nateland" is a product of a great work ethic, which has resulted great success and a million laughs. When I do find an employee who offers exceptional service, I make a point to tell that person. I've even written letters of thanks to employers. But, I so do the opposite when I find poor service. Hats off to Nate, whose commitment to his craft is inspiring. Comedy is a better place because of Nate's professionalism. Thank you.
Nate has trouble showing up to his own podcast in his own house. Professionalism? His idea of professionalism is minimum wage workers making fresh coffee right before they close, which will make them stay late to clean the coffee pot again. And he randomly takes weeks off of his own podcast “Nateland” with no warning.

Dusty is usually a bit anti establishment but he’s willing to give his fingerprints or eye scan to cut in line. 😂😂😂
When I was a kid, the only way for the establishment to have your prints, was if you were booked into jail. Now 16 year olds are using their biometrics to clock into Wendy's fast food. It's a crazy invasion of privacy.
I’ve explained this many times. How it happened and why it happened. Plus as the other commenter noted, you give your fingerprints when you get arrested and I have been arrested.
Wait until ppl hear about drivers licenses. The govt already has your picture and info. And most ppl have face unlock on their iPhones. Many ppl have family members who have sent their blood in for 23andme. At some point you have to give up a little and accept a little bit of loss of privacy. Especially if it lets you cut in line.
@@deangulberry1876 can you image when everyone has clear and uses it multiple times daily, what it will be like? The line and queue for the clear pass will be longer than a regular ol' line, and people will be paying for a service to stand back in line like before...
@@wakenow1 yeah they’ve already planned ahead for this. There will be “Clear Plus” for an extra hundred a month and a blood sample. These pigs will be tripping over themselves to sign up for it. And when that’s too crowded, they will open another line called “Clear Platinum.”

When Dusty contributes his digestive problems to the conversation, it reminds me of Nate, the character from “The Office” who awkwardly volunteers health information in meetings. You know, the guy who says, “I don’t TECHNICALLY have a hearing problem but...”
I can imagine Dusty reminding us, unprompted, that “I don’t TECHNICALLY have acid reflux (anymore), but I DO have digestive issues, and I burp ALL the time.”

Gaffigan is a great example of going from clean to dirty. I used to be a fan but not so much any longer, that's how I found Dusty and now Nate, Aaron, and Breakfast. Clean comedy for the win.

The best rule of thumb for restaurants is to be gone by the time they close. Whether you are getting to go or eating there, you just have to want to be gone before they close.
I saw an Elvis impersonator at our local casino. He had one of the backup singers (a man, the other 2 were woman) running all kinds of errands for him during the show. Finding him a stool, getting the teddy bears to hand out. It was great. He also kissed multiple woman. That's a Professional Elvis.
I’ve recently gone down the rabbit hole of the theory of the “firmament”. I just wanted to know if Dusty has heard of this & if so what does he think of it.
I believe in the firmament. I’ve seen videos on YT that shows what looks and sounds like a rocket hitting the “dome.” Also the star constellations being the exact same they were hundreds of years ago seems like proof of the firmament. And it’s in the Bible, which is interesting even if you’re not religious. I’m pretty sure Dusty believes in the firmament, more or less.

In my early 20s I went on a Missions Trip to Costa Rica. The touristy excursion they planned for us was a tour of a Coffee Plantation. You could image how pumped we all were to do that when zip-lining through the rainforest was an option... I digress. The tour was actually MUCH more interesting than I could have imagined and frankly safer than careening through the trees. On that tour we learned that the LIGHTER the roast, the more caffeine. Which is counter to what most think... When Dusty said Starbucks "Has so much caffeine..." I couldn't help but laugh. Starbuck's normal blends are just burnt and lack the caffeine most expect. Well I just love this podcast. Nate, the head royal court jester (second generation in the business) and his cohort jesters. It's a special look at the private compatriotism of comedy talent, and boy am I happy it's back to two hours. Thank you for the time you share with us plebs.
Sour cream raisin pie was a staple in the tiny Nebraska town I grew up in. The cafe I worked at in high school sold a lot of it… I used to have the lady that owned the Cafe and made the pies make me just a little dish of just the filling… I’m not a fan of raisins either Aaron.
The base of the pudding is a little bit like the flavor of topping some places put on Carmel cinnamon rolls… definitely rich.

The crystals are in the utricle, they detect movement. When the crystals detach and end up in the canals, they send incorrect signals to the brain about your body’s position. Not permanent.

I saw a video of Elvis in concert that was about 3 months before he passed. He sang "Are You Lonesome Tonight?". His voice sounded just like the original. It was perfect (almost brought a tear to my eye). He never lost his voice.
When Aaron talks about time humans were almost wiped out "the hobbits tribes we defeated" a few seconds pass then Dusty says "wait, what?" 🤣🤣🤣

Aaron, you’re the first person outside of my family I’ve heard talk about sour cream and raisin pie. My Granny is from SD and brought the recipe down south with her. It’s a hit with my family and anyone else who tries it at family functions.
Speaking of famous people at the airport. I landed in Salt Lake City, Utah for a connecting flight on February 28th. Was walking to the next gate and saw a guy that looked exactly like Henry Cho. I wasn't 100% it was him, and didn't want to bother. Later I looked at his tour schedule online, he was doing shows in Salt Lake on the 29! It was him!
Dusty may appreciate this fun fact. During the time after the fall of the Assyrian empire and the rise of the Persian Empire, a solar eclipse interrupted a battle in 585 BC between the "Median" peoples and the "Lydian" peoples (regional powers at the time). The eclipse, occurring mid-battle, was seen as a sign from the gods. The battle ceased and peace was negotiated between the groups who had been warring for the past 6 years. The story was legendary, passing by word of mouth until recorded by the Greek historian Herodotus ~130 years later(~450BC). Modern scholars confirmed that a solar eclipse would have occured at the general time and place referenced in Herodotus' history. Pretty neat.
Nate’s rant about being too dressed down hit a memory for me. My wife likes to tell a story of how she 100% KNEW I was going to propose to her because we took a trip together (texted friends it was going to happen) and I dressed up (slacks and button up) for the airplane. She still doesn’t believe me to this day that dressing up had nothing to do with it. Yes, I did propose on the trip but I just always dressed nice to fly.
Hello folks!! And hey bear I finally did it. I am way late to the show but I started listening last August and have been binge listening whenever I have spare time. When I first stated listening I thought Aaron may be some sort of wonder kin. However I later began thinking “wow they will let anyone into Notre Dame….” I also have seen Blister Bates go from a worried looking default create a character from a Video game to a man with very underrated sass that still looks like a default character from a video game. As for Nate… well I thought he was the nicest friend until Cowgate it was fun watching his redemption arch in the following weeks. As for Dusty…. I was unsure when they brought him in full time but it was the right move! I’d totally run bare foot in the yard wearing a tin foil Hat with you. You all Need to get up here to Alberta Canada together for some shows. Thanks for the great 6 months! I know this is too long to get ready on the Pod and way too long for Nate to read :)

I've been lactose intolerant since I was a baby. I grew up on acidophilus milk! It tastes just like regular milk except a little sweeter.
I was blown away/honestly doubtful that Arron did do 18 miles on the treadmill, (not proud to admit my doubt) but yeah 2.6 miles per hour for 7 hours is 18 miles. Thats nuts! Dang Arron, major props. I really enjoy running around the area I live here in Auburn, CA "endurance capital of the world"; kinda neat. But I cannot imagine running 18 miles, I think I would die atm. Ive been training to do a 20K run soonish. I did 8 miles the other day and didnt feel too bad at first but the next day i definitely felt it haha. One of the reasons Auburn is "The endurance capital of the world" is because of the Western States 100 miles race from Squaw Valley to Auburn. There is a horseback version called the "Tevis Cup" as well. People can be so impressive its crazy. Favorite group of dudes out there! Thank you for the show. I was born Hendersonville so kinda neat to still feel connected to the birth state and even local area through comedy. Two birds with one stone

Hey Bear! I spent untold years in the restaurant biz even dabbling in culinary arts school. With the work ethic I observe in today's world, I rarely if ever eat out and certainly not right before an establishment is about to close. Oh, and I was always led to believe that expired milk is taken back and re-pasteurized. Since the taste would be basically non-existent at that point, they add flavoring to it, but maybe they just pour all that stuff down the drain....as always thanks for the good time!
I laughed out loud when I realized the movie Brian was remembering was MELANCHOLIA. Never in a million years would I have guessed Brian to be a Lars von Trier head.
I was laughing so hard when they were talking about Melancholia. I've listened to these guys talk about the most random things over the past several years but I would have NEVER guessed that they would have a discussion about Lars Von Trier's Depression trilogy!😆 It took me out! So funny! 😂

Hello folks, local to Fort Myers here. The persistent warmth at night in Florida, unlike the desert's cooling effect, is attributed to humidity, even after the sun sets. Similarly, the perception of cold varies between places; 50⁰F in our humid South Florida environment feels notably colder than in Wisconsin due to the moisture in the air.
The fact that the guys-and especially Aaron-didn’t know that humidity is what keeps air warm after the sun goes down made me nuts. Maybe fewer friendship classes and more science classes, Aaron! 😂

The idea that previous humans in ancient years past fought to stay alive so that 4 guys could sit around a table to discuss how block the sun and compare it to fans at a stadium creating a mural by holding up pieces of paper is wild.
Nate looks visibly tired from all the travels. Listened to the episode as I was getting kids ready for school and pretty sure I messed up a few things at home in the process.
A couple of things I got out of this podcast episode
1. Vertigo - My wife’s got it and a few years ago she had episodes where she would faint. Doctor did something similar to what Dusty mentioned. Lie on a reclining chair with her head sort hanging down, and then the doc would turn it around to get all the “crystals” in place. Always knew she had a few loose marbles😅
2. Professionalism - Totally agree with what you’re saying. After watching your Krispy Kreme challenge episode recently, I went to a Tim Hortons to get some TimBits. They were 20 mins from closing and cleaning up. The lady sounded a little annoyed that I would ask when they were almost out but managed to dig up the last pieces. I could tell because there were a couple that looked like they’d been chewed up (probably stuck to the bottom of the tray or something). Yuck!! I still ate them though. That’s professionalism (on my part)
3. Covering the sun - reminds me of the episode from South Park and also the Simpsons. Nice!!!
4. Scientists tends to start thinking up theories way ahead of their time because it could take decades before they find a solution. Doesn’t mean they’ve finalized on plans to use an umbrella to cover the sun. It’s a theory that enables debates and conversations. Sort of like saying I could eat 36 donuts and then being challenged!!
5. Just realized I said “couple of things” at the start of this post and I’m too tired to scroll up and change that (or fix any typos)

Caffeine has a half life of about 5 hours, which means if you drink coffee at 5pm, you will still have 1/2 the amount of caffeine in your body at 10pm, and 1/4 the amount at 3am. Makes sense that it would affect sleep so much.
Ugh. No wonder. just got back on caffeine, and it’s jacking me up
My guess is that they are rescheduling games due to liability issues. They don't want a fan to look up and damage their eyes and then sue the team and stadium.
Also, I drove about an hour north from Atlanta to see the totality in the last eclipse. I didn't cry over it, but I did find it an amazing experience. The crickets like Nate mentioned were cool, but the best part was looking up and it looking like there was a hole in the sky.
The best chocolate milk I have ever had is from a place called Reed’s Dairy in southeast Idaho. They put potato flakes in it, which sounds gross, but it makes it perfectly thick and creamy. If you’re ever in southeast Idaho, you need to try it. However, it will ruin all other chocolate milks for you.
I think Aaron should live stream himself when he walks on the treadmill. That way we have the source, and he can interact with all of his fans while he works. Could be a motivation booster to walk 20 miles instead of only 18. Or better yet, get some treadmills for the podcast room. Either way, keep on grinding Aaron!! Go jackets.
Hey Dusty, I am surprised you have never heard of acidophilus with all your digestive issues. It is really great probiotic! You should give it a try. My mom is all about natural remedies and acidophilus is one of the vitamins she takes often. You don’t have to drink the milk though. We usually just take capsules of it.
Here's your recurring SNL sketch for Nate: every time the government is doing something dumb, George slides into Weekend Update and gives a random American speech, but ignores all questions about the problem. Gov. Is broke? Washington speech about weird Merican foods. Foreign wars? Washington is passionate about US Town names.
Nate’s rant on the end of professionalism rings so true to me, especially for restaurants. Last summer, I took a friend to a taco joint that I liked 10 minutes before they closed and the guy that took our order acted like we were so rude for coming that close to closing time. It’s as if people don’t want to earn their money anymore. Fast forward to last month and they’re closed now.
It’s very disrespectful to the employees who make $10/hr. They are likely told to clean up early so the boss doesn’t have to pay overtime. Then when a customer comes in with 5 minutes left and orders a coffee or a taco, it screws over the employee. The employee is put in a lose-lose scenario.

My dad got robbed at gunpoint for his mailman keys a few months ago (the key gets you into the blue boxes and one for all the apartment complex boxes). Guy got caught and went to jail. Crazy stuff!

Someone else mentioned this, but Dusty, coffee can greatly increase your vertigo. I’ve found even decaf if you drink enough can be problematic. Also someone mentioned probiotics. I’ve found a combination pre/probiotic very helpful. Watch your diet and be careful of how much air you take in during eating or drinking. Love the show!

I can’t believe Aaron laughed at breakfast saying he can’t drink coffee after 5 pm or he can’t sleep. Several years ago I completely cut out all soda and caffeine and began sleeping great and feeling better in the mornings. Every now and again I will drink a cappuccino when it gets cold outside or a soda and when I first started doing it again occasionally I could not sleep at all. I finally put two into together and realized my sleepless nights were when I drink around or after noon. So these days I won’t drink anything after 12 PM. So laugh at that Aaron. However, this morning my kids were making fun of my gray hairs that are coming in. So maybe that has something to do with it.

Think of it like this: If a committee was formed in the 1500’s to start planning for Mars colonization, do you think they would’ve gotten anything meaningful accomplished? Or would we look at that today and be like that’s cute, thanks for the hard work. We got it from here. They probably would’ve suggested gluing feathers to ourselves and flying there.
Don’t you think that in 1000 years we’ll have technology we couldn’t have even imagined today that will be a game changer for these kind of decisions? How about a 100,000 years from now?

During COVID there was a huge line outside of Trader Joe’s, an elderly woman with a walker came to the door and realized she had to go to be back. I wanted to let her in front of me but felt it was unfair to everyone else. Telling my dad he said you could have traded places with her. Still one of my bigger regrets.
