Love it❤. The turret banquet, the swivel chairs, the three sided marble tile fireplace, the repurposed coffee tables and dining chairs, the hand crafted dining tables and pendant light. Sarah hits it out of the park again. Every space accomplishes it’s best use and atmosphere.
Thanks so much Merry! I'm so happy you love it, and thanks a million for watching!! :-)
Swivel rocker chairs are my favorite.
Thank you for sharing so much of your expertise. You are a great teacher.
Aww, thank you Shirley! So nice of you to say. :-)

Cottage is beautiful as expected. We never got to see the bedrooms and bathrooms though!!! A little surprised!!
Sarah,
You have definitely got the gift of creativity. Sometimes, I'm thinking naaa when you describe what you are going to create but inevitably always bring it home.
You are a Star 🌟.
Thank you! We all have our design preferences for sure, but taking the time to appreciate other people's views is such a positive thing. Sharing is caring - and I appreciate that you took the time to leave me such a nice comment. 💓

Beautiful space!❤🎉
❤❤❤❤❤❤ You're an amazing designer. I appreciate the time that you take with the details.😊
You’re a wizard. Great tips!
❤ your design choices! You are such an artist! I usually lean toward warm and natural but you have warmed up a cool space and it’s stunning!
DETAIL DIVA ❤ the wood family strip!!!! I can't live without Honey Onyx and Alabaster!!! I would love to see the onyx sconces on in the evening. Tommy once said he ❤ed to watch you come up with tile concepts and here you did it again! What a excellent design out of tile from a big box store!!! Everyone has a God given gift to bring to the party of life and yours is creativity!!! Thanks for sharing with us all!!!
Aww, this is so sweet! Thank you so much for leaving such a positive, kind comment. It's very much appreciated. :-)
Love love love it all!
OK, I'm crying...not because I've just finished binge watching Sarah's Mountain Escape, but because the journey was such a fabulous ride!!! WOW!!!!! Congratulations on Haus Heidi Whistler. May the blessings continue to overflow from this huge leap of faith and boatload of hard work!!!!!
Aww, Pamela, you're so kind! Thank you for spreading positivity - and thanks a million for your support! :-)
Very cool….almost cold.
Not with the fire going... 😉
Hi Sarah. Could you do a video on where to install ceiling lights in relation to furniture placement and cabinet locations in a room? Pot lights are usually the most difficult to place - they can either wind up looking like swiss cheese all over the ceiling or they are laid out in a grid and look like landing lights on an airport runway.
How far away from upper cabinets should they be in a kitchen, when should you use pin lights instead of pot lights, where and how to use a wall washer, what about under cabinet lights and when to use tape lights?
I'm sure you have some great advice and we'd all love to hear it :) Thanks!
Hi, this is a great idea, thanks for sharing! - and watching!! :-)
Love it it’s very pretty. I find it a little bit stark though. I personally would’ve added touches of color like the green of the trees or the blue of the sky. Thank you Sarah Richardson love your work.
That would look nice too! Though, for this space, I wanted the majestic outside views and all of their natural colours to take centre stage. Thank you for watching! :-)
The superspace is so easy to envision filled with people and food and laughter
Aww, that's great, thanks for saying so!! :-)
This space is so beautiful as is the whole house❣️ Today HGTV is running your whole series Sarah’s Mountain Escape, so on this cold snowy day I know what I’ll be doing! This whole house is amazing and if I ever get to BC I would absolutely want to stay there!
Google it the price to rent is INSANE.
Thanks so much Toinette!! :-)
So many great Ideas! 😍
Yay! Thanks! :-)
This is the most beautiful room I've ever seen. Sarah designed this calm and soothing space as very futuristic. Very forward-thinking and creative. Gorgeous
Wow, what great feedback. Thanks for taking the time to weigh in. And thank you so much for watching!! :-)
It's so beautiful, and I especially love the lighting fixtures and placement. I would loooove to see the room all lit up at night, fireplace on, golden glow from the hammered custom pendant, those CB2 shell-like sconces - wow.
I will say, it's pretty "glowy" at night! :-) Thank you for watching!
I love the glassed-in stairwell. I wish Sarah would have talked about that.
Oops, so much to talk about, so little time! lol Good idea for next time, though. Thanks so much for watching!! :-)
I just love how you gave such a high end look but are so smart on budget friendly ideas. Perfect example the tile on the fireplace. ❤
Thanks Janet, so glad you think so. Thank you for watching! :-)
Thank you for the websites to get the products you used.
You're welcome!! :-)
Wow! Breathtaking. You are extraordinary!!
Aww, thank you Solange - you're so kind!! :-)
The level of detail you incorporate is just stunning. It's a marvel to behold! :)
Aw, thank you for noticing - and for watching!! :-)
Stacks and stacks of style, here! Love the repeat of the notched and stacked effects on the tables, fireplace and wall panels! Your design ideas are very inspirational. Bravo to the artisans, carpenters and installers who have brought these designs to life. They are beyond tradespersons - they are artists! You said all you need is to have a carpenter to get a great banquette... we should all have access to as talented a carpenter as Kris. Really liked how you brought in local fine artists as well... especially Stacey Bodnaruk's "artography" and Olivier Godbout' dining table from Wood Streams. Thanks!
Aww, such awesome feedback - thanks so much Rick! Agreed - Kris is so talented, and all of our tradespersons definitely are artists! Thank you for watching!! :-)
Don't normally buy into the open concept builds. But I'm sold on what you did with this open concept project.. Awesome
Aww, great!! Thank you for watching! :-)
Wow 😮 I 😮😮 very nice idea,,,,,,,,thanks dear
I really liked the design when I first saw the project. Now that you shared the thought behind each choice I love it. So many smart choices that will make this a functional space that is still beautiful.
Aw, thank you!! I figure other people could possibly benefit from all the ideas racing around in my head 24/7. haha
My very favorite room of the whole house, and that’s saying something!
Aw, thanks!! :-)
Love everything, from the fireplace to the light fixtures. It's awesome.
Thank you for saying so!! :-)
I’m planning furniture for my living room and I thought about swivel chairs, but passed on the idea, it’s a yes now… I’m a landscaper designer, much of what I’ve learned from you about design has been applicable to what I do….sofas to trees lol. One of my go to Sarahisms is “edit as you go”, in terms of a ongoing project. I’m sure I’m not the only creator/business person who follows you, I would love to see a video about the journey of growing as a designer and your business…..I LOVE what I do, but holy does it ever take a lot of vulnerability to be both creative and own a business ❤️😍😝😎😎
Such great feedback! Thank you. You're totally right - "passion to practice" takes guts and perseverance, and it's not always easy, but hard work is mostly always rewarding! :-)
@@SarahRichardsonDsgn GOOD LORD you replied… passion to practice, one more Sarahism in the vault.
I don't know how you keep amazing me, but you do! I love it all!
Aww, thank you so much!! :-)
Sarah, Those spaces look absolutely amazing. 😊
Thank you so much!! :-)
Fabulous fabulous fabulous. Thank you so much for all the inspiration.
You're so welcome, and thank you for watching!! :-)
Amazing spaces ! Genius fireplace surround ❤❤❤
Thank you!! :-)
Сара как всегда на высоте!!! Очень красиво!!! Нет слов!!!
Thanks to awesome fans like yourself! :-)
I want me some natural undyed yak wool.
:-) Check out www.vifloor.com/
Beautiful work, as usual! Love the sconces!!! Where could I find them? Oh got it. Cb2. Thanks Sarah!!
You're most welcome!! And thank YOU for watching!! :-)
Beautiful room. But from a rental perspective, good luck keeping those light grey chairs and couches clean, especially with guests/renters sitting on them. The arms of the chairs will be black with oils from hands and arms within months. Same goes for the carpets and dirty feet.
It's all about the quality of fabrics used. And most people are probably not as dirty as you think. LOL! Thank you for watching! :-)
@@SarahRichardsonDsgn Your shows are great. You are a fantastic designer...definitely the best on HGTV. Cheers!
❤yes Sarah--isn't your middle name 'banquette'?!😊😘! AM OUT OF MY MIND over the Lustre Pearl pendant!🎉
It could be my middle name! haha Thanks for watching! :-)
Love it all !
Thank you!! :-)
Love it al!!!🦌💌❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Yay!! ❤
Very nice design and discussion. I am surprised that you did not install a light wooden look floor.
Thank you! Sometimes I like to change it up a bit, but you're totally right in noticing that I often choose lighter flooring. :-)
Like it thank you
You're most welcome! :-)
Love it!!!!
Thank you!! :-)
Another beautiful design. I'm awestruck at how you can think of all the details in each of these rooms that are so thoughtful. Can you please tell me if that is your wallpaper line in the stairway and what is the name of it?
Aw, thanks!! :-) The wallpaper is from Brewster. Here's the link: www.brewsterwallcovering.com/2921-50928-montgomery-pewter-faux-grasscloth-wallpaper/2921-50928
It’s nice.
Thank you! :-)
Love the tile idea! Can I use this same concept in a shower? To eliminate grout lines??
Absolutely-people do it all the time!
Thanks! The fireplace is grouted, it's just the grout colour matches the tiles perfectly. :-)
I'm surprised that you're happy with Fuzion Flooring - ours has held up pretty poorly and we're really disappointed that it's throughout our whole house. We'll be lucky to make it 10 years before we have to replace it all - which will mean replacing all the trim as well. We have no pets and no kids - just two adults and we're only 1.5yrs after our reno. Chipping, splitting, scratching, you name it our floors have it. I wonder if the floors in these renos will hold up or if they'll just look good for a few weeks.
"If you have a carpenter you can achieve this". Yeah.
As a designer, I'm fortunate to work with many talented tradespersons. Most have been with me from the beginning. Should you ever be interested, check out your local listings - there's likely lots of new or seasoned tradespersons that you could collaborate with that could help bring your visions to life. Thank you so much for watching!! :-)
@@SarahRichardsonDsgn You are very fortunate, and do beautiful work. It's a struggle out there right now in my area to find a carpenter who is willing and able. I continue to hunt.
What white paint is on the walls please?
Is there storingroom inside the turret bench?
Not in this one, but great idea! :-)
I’m building a beach house but my dining room doesn’t have a wall for a banquet. Can I still do it in one of the sides of the table?
You can, but bench seating at a table makes it difficult for the person stuck in the middle of the bench to get in and out. Other people have to move, too.
you could do two shorter benches - so up to 4 ppl can sit on one side but the ppl on interior of the row can still get out.
@@AB-ol5uz Nice work! Solutions can always be found, thanks so much for weighing in! :-)
Sure you can, just "test it out" first and get a feel for how that might work for you and your guests. If you're cool with it, then chances are your guests will be too. :-)
@@SarahRichardsonDsgn thank you so much 🥰
What was the cost of this project?
Probably Thousands of dollars. The carpet of yak wool alone must have cost a little fortune. Sarah balanced cheap and expensive for a cohesive look. Bottom line. Be creative and buy what sings to your heart.
@@Nicole-js7rb I like that - "buy what sings to your heart". Fun rule to follow! :-)
Love you guys and the continued content! Editing suggestion, turn off the ding on the Tips, kinda annoying and not necessary 😊
Thanks for watching!! :-)
Does anyone know what date this episode first aired? Was it, like, ten years ago? Five? One?
Because *grey was BIG for a while in the 1990s,* then reared its ugly head again, what---ten years ago...ish? And by now has been 'out', by my estimation, for a number of years.
Yet Sarah's last few projects I've watched *have ALL been predominantly fekking blah grey!* What gives? And I really haven't liked the _shades_ or _undertones_ of the greys she's used either. Despite what she mentioned in this video about using warm tones with it, it still reads as cold (even with the nice, warmer light wood floors, etcetera).
*Is grey back in style?* Now, for its third, hideous incarnation in modern times?
Given how much I've usually admired Sarah's choices and design prinicples in the past (and many of the principles she's utilized here), maybe it's just me who's 'out of it'. (It wouldn't be the first time.)
Thank you so much for watching Be!! :-)
😍🤗👍🏻💗😍
Right back at ya! 💗
Sarah's one of the best there is but I strongly dislike the grey everything she's used here..yikes!
Thank you for watching!! :-)
Why always include the products of tortured animals? I love your channel BUT please cease recommending animal products.
❤ fantastic design for living space
Yay! So glad you like it. :-)
