  • A nice and sunny day. Perfect for QRP. So I went out by bicycle and do some QRP. Let's have fun watching this video.
I used the QCXmini and a short 20m telescopic antenna. The location is in the middle of some old cherry trees. The area arround Kalchreuth is known for it cherry trees and good cherries.

Hi Björn I’m new to your channel and have only watched one or two videos but I have to say they make me smile keep up the awesome work! I’m learning CW/Morse and hopefully I’ll be able to follow along decoding I can’t wait to see what more you have in store :) Jacob KE8OZC 73

Hi Jacob. I am happy to hear that. It is my itention to bring people to the HAM and QRP world. QRP is sometimes frustrating because you can't make a contact at all. But if you do a nice contact (my first DX on QRP was on 20m Germany --> Japan using 2W CW) it feels much more exiting than burning the antenna with 2kW. So keep on learning morse code. Its realy cool to "talk" CW. Vy 73 de Björn, DL2NEP

Круто! Сублимированная лапша вкуснее, если в котелок добавить банку хорошей орской тушёнки...

      Даже можно лапшу недобавлять. ;-)

Bjorn -- Good morning. I know how frustrating it can be operating portable QRP -- but keep at it. You will be successful. The new QRP labs mini seems to be a nice rig. In my experience, the most important item for your QRP outing is the antenna. I have great success with a multiband EFHW for 40, 20 and 10m supported by a 10M telescopic fibreglass mast. The mast packs down really small and is not too heavy to back pack. Callum 'DX Commander' sells these masts. I can recommend them. You will have much more success with a better antenna. Good luck 73 Bruce G4ABX

Hello Bruce, you are right. I want to use the "easy" setup. So the telescopic antenna wins this poit. But I will also try my EFHW antenna. I think this should put much more RF to the air. The telescopic antenne puts 10% (??) in the air? Thanks for your nice comment. vy 73 de Björn, DL2NEP

@@echopapaqrp8166 Its all about an efficient coupling for your small amount of RF to the environment -- and that means as big a resonant antenna as you can mange! As you say, not always the most convenient :-) I've been operating QRP for more than 55 years -- and I'm still experimenting with antennas and rigs -- and of course modes. FT8 with its ability to operate with very weak signals is fascinating. I'm on 10M QRP FT8 at the moment and can work all over Europe with 5 watts. Keep experimenting and keep enjoying the great hobby :-) 73 Bruce G4ABX

I have the same MFJ antenna for 40m and it is a piece of junk.
      Cheers for the QCx mini.

My QCX Mini is still not functional. I have already replaced one IC. It helped but now to do more. Ugh. Looks like fun. Maybe I’ll figure it out. Ordered all new IC’s.

Keep on trying to repair this little box. You contacted Hans Summers allready? May be he can help? The QCXmini is realy a nice radio and it makes a lot of fun to play with it! 73

@@echopapaqrp8166 Thanks.. ! I am sending it to Ron Taylor on Monday. I have 2 IC's that are putting out bad voltages. IC7 and 8. 1.68V and 2.08 Volts. ugh. lol. Hopefully we can get it working. I spent the entire night using my original Norcal 40 I built 28 years ago. it was FUN. puts out about 3 watts. time to hit the bed. lol. Great videos you have. Thank You. 73 KB2QQM.

    Hi,
    Many thanks for video!
I also built QCX mini for 40m. It works great except I hear audio click during knob rotation. Do you have such issue?

LOL best are the noodles. So you made a qso or not? You didn't show one but at the end you said you were able to make some contacts. Seems the antenna was not the best solution. 73

I tried some contacts but the only confirmed contacts are the WSPR listings. The antenna is a nice solution but not as good as a dipol or EFHW. Offcourse the best thing was the noodles and the beer 😂

What's the antenna model name? Can I use it without a tuner?

It's a kind of noname antenna. I used all this antennas without an tuner.
