- I join Marrilyn Honig of Coffee, Cults and Crafts to discuss the difference and similarities between Scientology's belief in body thetans, versus the belief of demons the the cult Marilyn was in.
Marilyn and I must’ve grown up in similar cults. Extreme evangelicalism is indeed a cult.
Purity Culture is cult-y.
As a Born Again Christian, I know, no doubt in my mind, that when I die my last breath is here on earth, my next will be in heaven!
Love your intro. Your daughter is a stunner and looks just like you. Awesome chat between Nat and Marilyn. I could happily have listened for hours. Hopefully you'll both do much more together.
Natalie, I think much like you, so nice to hear I am not alone!
Natalie - welcome to being spiritual. You are there girl.
Natalie, have you ever read the short story "The Egg"? It is by the guy who wrote The Martian. It is short and online for free, it has to do a bit with what you were saying. Highly recommended
cathing up!!!!
Replay crew… currently there are 666 views. Thought that was funny
i appreciate the attempt to draw parallels but i also think its important to recognize where there just aren't parallels. I am Catholic for example and the correlation between the implant stations and purgatory is just really a step too far. The implant station is to wipe your mind and send you back to earth whereas every soul in purgatory will go to heaven it's a final step of preparation. Your identity is completely in tact and your salvation is assured. So I think they are pretty fundamentally different concepts.
Keep in mind that a person in another religion considers themselves just as correct as you do. That was my takeaway. There really isn’t a perfect comparison, and we have no idea if any of them are factually true.
@@LiterallyLisa1 i’m not sure what certainty of belief to do with discussing the validity of these comparisons. sounds a bit like you are responding to something i didn’t say?
@@lisaeshleman754 I think you’re nitpicking their comparisons because you consider your beliefs to be correct, and probably find it pretty insulting that Scientology got compared to Christianity. That’s all. The point they were making was that there is an “in between”-type place, and both religions have that in common. Nobody knows for certain.
@@LiterallyLisa1 oh i don’t think so at all! i think i’m pointing out that sometimes there just aren’t comparisons to be made even if we might think so. i think you may be assuming i’m saying something i didn’t because i didn’t say anything about knowing anything for sure nor was i nitpicking at all. just giving my thoughts which is what i think the comments section is for :)
@@lisaeshleman754 okay I have to admit, I came in super hot on my last comment. I’m sorry, I could have phrased what I said differently. I hear what you are saying, and I think you’re correct, I was totally responding to something you didn’t say. I think I’m responding to past religious people and experiences I’ve had, and should not have lumped you into that category.
Hi 👋 from NY
That was sooo interesting! Great live, ladies 😍
How do you think that the world was created without God. It surely wasn't some big bang. Jesus loves you guys
Jesus loves you all & so do I!!! {{{❤️}}}
Could god have created the universe? Sure! Could a big bang have created the universe? Sure! Nobody actually knows. Fact and conviction in a belief are completely different things, and that’s okay.
