Complete timelapse of my build. Total build time was 10 months working about 40-50 hours per week. Also the first take off and landing on my test flight. Here's some flying: • Kitfox Quarantine
Out-freaking-standing! Many of us watch the more instructional, step-by-step build videos, and some of us build airplanes, but it was simply fun to see this video. One thought amused me...when you were a beat behind the left-turning tendency on that first flight, I imagined - AND THANK GAWD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN - a first flight ground loop, followed by the queuing of that music again, from the top, followed by a timelapse video of its repair 😂 🤣
Awsome Joe! I built my Kitfox 4 back in 1993 in 9 months, which was pretty fast. You did it in 3 minutes :-). Nothing compares with that feeling of the first flight. Congratulations on a beautiful plane and video.
I love this video! Obviously i am very curious about the process, which is why i am watching this. I do have 2 questions that i feel are critical for my situation and it is possible other people might have the same questions. Question #1: Was the kit delivered to an address of your choosing or was the only option to pick up at an airport? Question #2: I am only equipped with what i feel are very basic tools. (Most “advanced” tools i own would be a nail gun + compressor) Do i need access to a lathe or band saw or welding equipment to be able to build this? I am not entirely sure if cordless tools with a tape measure and a miter saw puts me in qualified position. Again, beautiful video. Thanks for the upload!
Hey Gio, you can have it delivered to your house or you can pick it up at the factory. Call Kitfox they are super helpful. Also you certainly do not need a bunch of special tools. A dremel will do most of the work. No welding needed. If you are decently handy and can follow explicit directions, you can do this.
Congrats. It looks really good. I hope to be following your lead next year.
Awesome video for anyone considering a kitfox build.
Awesome! I was USAF Over 18 years. Love Planes!! GREAT VIDEO!! :)

HA! That would have been less than ideal!
Congratulations!
Awesome. I know this is late and you have been flying for a bit, but I just found the video. Congrats I hope you are enjoying it. Beautiful Aircraft.

How much did your build cost you?
Awesome video and congratulations. Were you a first time builder? 10 months is impressive.
Thanks and yes first time builder.
Very nice Joe. Great looking Kitfox and a great build. I’ll be taking delivery of mine in June. What engine package did you go with?
Thanks and congrats on the kit! I installed the 912 is, happy with it so far.
What material do I see on the wing of the plane like the fabric and what is the upholstery like brown
Wow awesome joe, were you nervous on that first flight?
Just a bit! Getting much more comfortable now
Are you still kiting, it funny you live in Lighthouse point, i grew up there in the early 80s
What is the useful load and what size fuel tanks do you have ? Thank you.
what was the total time on this build?
It took me ten months working on it every day after work and full days on the weekends.
I have a question
Happy to answer your question
how much you pay for everything?
Give the Kitfox factory a call they do a good job estimating. Then add 10-20% for tools and unexpected spending.
