I see a lot of people doubting Makachev, but thats understandable as people love to bandwagon. But fact of the matter is, anyone that has a good understanding of MMA will know that Makachev, whether he has fought top contenders or not, is the greatest threat to Oliveira in the division. Three people are the biggest threats to the champ, 1. Makachev, 2. Dariush, 3. Tsarukyan.

I think you can't do GOATs, the eras are too different in pretty much any sport.
IDK I think Gaethje is not in talks for a rematch because of how sloppy he looked. He didn't respect Charles' striking at all and got lit up and dropped. Then he got submitted very fast and offered almost no resistance to the grappling.
Also Rose is not a top 5 draw that's laughable. Her last main event spot was UFC 237 that did 110k. For comparison her last co-main before this was UFC 268, Usman vs. Covington II that did 700k. The UFC has been putting Rose's fights next to much more anticipated ones her entire career as a way to build her and the division and she and Carla just killed it all with 25 minutes of crap.
Gaethje getting a rematch is so ridiculous he showed nothing I rewatched the fight and it's clear that Oliveira flops on his back immediately when he gets dropped because he knows nobody will follow him down there. It gives him an opportunity to recover. He gets tagged but he'll pull guard immediately. You have to ko him with one punch or outgrapple him to win. Nobody is beating Oliveira with a 4-5 punch combo he'll just pull guard and his opponent will make him stand up. It's brilliant by Charles. He has built in traps. You gotta seperate him from consciousness with 1-2 punches or smash him on the ground.

It just seems his striking is good enough and his grappling so top notch that without a 1 hit KO he's not losing.
I personally feel his 11-0 streak over 3-4 years is more impressive than Khabib's 13-0 UFC career over 8 years.

The Benavidez x Figueiredo fight actually had a rematch BECAUSE THERE WAS A HEADBUTT DURING THE FIGHT THAT LED TO A TKO BY FIGUEIREDO, and THAT in conjunction with the 2,5 POUNDS HEAVIER than the limit, so lets not just take this as if its the same thing that happened on the Oliveira x Gaethje fight, where there was a scale controversy with only a 0,5 pounds over the limit, and the guy got chocked to death

Sambo vs Jiu Jitsu is what is at stake here. It reminds me of the beginning of the UFC where there is a tournament of styles. As the UFC becomes accessible to countries it didn't before we get to see new styles and can test its effectiveness. Until we begin to form the most effective fighting style within a cage. Beautiful.

TECHNICALLY Charles Oliveira did defend the light weight championship. Mark it down in the record books as a title defense. Just like an officer protecting the border entry Charles defended the belt preventing Gaethje from entering the club.

I agree. Eventhough Geathje is top 3, he should wait atleast another year before he gets another title fight. He also would need atleast another year to improve grappling skills. But I do think he will get another title fight because the distance is way too big between the top 3 and the rest. Geathje, Makhachev and Oliveira will be switching off the belt for the next 5 years. I think Poirier is hurt, McGregor is definitely not winning from anybody, dariush, chandler and ferguson are a level behind the top 3 and they will not be able to improve so much that they can take any of the top 3.

Did Khabib have an aura or recognition before Connor put him on the map? I'm not sure as I wasn't watching UFC then, but would be interesting to know. I think his cold blooded smashing of a superstar on a rocket trajectory that was a wild draw and becoming the villain (at least then), is what gave Khabib his aura. Still not sure how he would handle Dariush or Charles. I don't think it's a slam dunk.

Not only did we see his full potential we saw his willingness to truly fight anyone if he could, he just wasn't undefeated. BJ Penn is the best fighter I personally ever seen when he was peak performance. At peak performance pound 4 pound I will always pick BJ Penn vs any other fighter in their peak.

There are classes between Oliveira and Gathje when it comes to ground game and Gathje doesn't even dare to touch Oliveira on the ground. Olivera proved that Justin is not championship material by fighting smart and submitting him quickly. So did Khabib. Oliveira needs to take a break to recover, just as Khabib did. Which took almost a year between fights. Makhachev can fight Dariush this Summer, and the winner fight Oliveira near end of the year.

I think trips and throws are better than single legs and doubles, a single is tough to finish on an experienced fighter, doubles can leave you and your hips on the bottom or getting reversed ....This why I find Islam so interesting to watch, Have you even been thrown and end up with the other guy mounted on you??? I love watching the UFC more so than any other MMA organisation, but, one thing that really pisses me off about the UFC (even more so than UFC's fickle fans) is the lack of consistency with the process. It really does look like the UFC makes up the rules as they go along. I think the situation that Charles instigated (not on purpose) caused more trouble for Justin than was realised. As Chael said, Justin could not take the belt from Charles, as he wanted to. I think this situation could have dented Justin's motivation to take the belt because the glory that would have come with it for Justin, suddenly dissipated along with the loss of the title for Charles. I agree with Chael and think the fight should be done again because the playing field will be level for both of them.
