damn about time somebody put a UGA Thomas Davis video up. Yall remember that hit on South Carolina's QB? He tried to scramble and was going forward, then Davis completely knocked him backwards and caused the fumble, was one of the hardest hits I've ever seen.
They were almost in the National Championship last year and are looking good again this year...If only we could put those defenses with this years offense. We would be unbeatable.
ALL TIME FAVORITE UGA DEFENSIVE PLAYER !!! I love this guy. I remember ESPN did some top 10 hits of the first half of his senior season, he had like 6 of them. iceoutboy... get me an autographed jersey !!!!
Your questions can be answered with two words: Willie Martinez. Since he took over, UGA has given up 30+ points 11 times. Under Van Gorder, that happened once in a loss to eventual national champion, LSU.
this is when i loved uga still do actually but even more and im from ny mostly i like a.j green, prince miller, and rennie curran since they drafted stafford and moreno i hope a.j stay for his senior year
I'm not saying that Willie's better than Brian Van Gorder, because he is not! But I think we're a little hard on Willie! This year will be a good test, though. If we stay healthy and we keep giving up 30+ points, it'll be off with his head next winter. I've got faith in him, though. Nobody was complaining about him when we took Colt Brennan's head off in the Sugar Bowl. Or when our defense came up huge against Tebow in '07(even though we gave up 30). And the huge second half performance vs. VT.
It's not really the same. Curran is a LB while Davis and Blue spent most of their time in the secondary making receivers regret trying to catch the ball. Hits like that make receivers get "short-armed" as they say. I saw that UGA is going after a kid for 2010 who seems like a copy of Davis. He's about the same size and scouts say he is a vicious hitter. A guy in the spring game, Gloer, was laying wood to people but I don't think he's a starter, not sure why since he's as fast as anyone else.
@@JH16 I would’ve laughed at anyone 12 years ago if they said we were gonna be back 2 back champs and seriously contending for a 3 peat. My how the times have changed 🏆🏆
There wasn't any 5'9" 175lbs slot receivers goin over the middle against Davis and Blue. If they had, somebody would've been charged with murder bc them boys didn't play
Davis was a great player, no doubt, but he pretty much single-handedly cost UGA the Tennessee game in 2004. He bit on not one but two play fakes to leave his receivers wide open while giving up Tennessee's only two touchdowns. I can't blame Tennessee for taking advantage of Davis's aggressive style of play in stopping the run. Still, it would be nice if UGA had just one player on the team who could hit like Davis did.
hes not really my next door neighbor but his mom lives next to me and during off season he comes to stay at his moms house so he kinda is and kinda aint my neighbor (his mom lives in georgia)
cause we don't got jack shit now on defense besides curran & Gamble are defense last year was good this year were shit back in 2002-2005 they were the shit on defense
Our d isn't that bad dude. I agree we didn't have the tenacity that i like, but Rennie will be leading the defense this year and I think we will be much improved because we'll have Jeff Owens back, who is an All-SEC interior lineman. Plus, your argument doesn't work. We lost to Florida in '02, '03, '05(because we didn't have Shockley, not because of the d), '06, and '08. I think it's a mental issue with Florida, not a physical ability issue.
Thomas Davis is fricking hero. One of the most underrated players in the league.
Blue and davis best safety duo in bulldog history
Holy shit I forgot about Greg!
If it wasn't for Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas' era in Seattle they might just be the best safety duo ever.
Thomas Davis and Sean Jones were the best safety duo in bulldog history
Proud to say my first memories of football are Greg blue and Thomas Davis hits, Marcus stroud somewhere in there lol
It's crazy to see how many guys from this Defense along played in the league.
Legend has it he and Blue hit so hard they couldn’t tackle in practice.

the man's a menace
I miss these big time UGA safeties. Guys that would stop a running back in their tracks and make wide receivers think REAL hard before making a catch.
They were almost in the National Championship last year and are looking good again this year...If only we could put those defenses with this years offense. We would be unbeatable.
Keep Pounding and go dawgs!
he was playing SS in college WoW that should be illegal
