All those years ago, this changed my mind about Larry Bird. I was a Lakers fan who hated the Celtics, but this made me respect Bird so much more than I ever thought I would. I'm glad that he was man enough to stand by his friend. My respect for him has never waned since then and I'm SO happy to see Earvin😁 and Larry are still here with us
I felt the same inverse ideology. Hated Magic & The Lakers..but all these docuseries gave way to what we saw flourishing on court. Mutual respect & admiration. I love that we grew up with these two.
2 of the greatest players in human history period ...today's players need to line up and kiss there asses .foreal ..they are the pillars of today's NBA..I'm 58:and blessed to have witnessed this with them ....... enough said
As long as you haven't suffered chronic back pain you can't imagine what it feels like. Of course you can imagine it as we all go through a bit of it during our lives, but when it hits you day after day or even regularly itv just rules your life. Don't know how he played games with that. It's bewildering.
Larry to me when he called Magic showed that even though they were both rivals, you see the care he has for Ervin and that in a way they were brothers off the court, and I have no doubt that if the same thing happened to Larry, Ervin would’ve done the same thing for Larry.

Arsenio's fears @ 3:20 were real for the time. In the early 90s, an HIV diagnosis was a death sentence and horrible death at that. How in the hell was Bird doing all that with a bad back is beyond me. I can barely get out of my chair fast when my back is hurting. These two men saved the NBA and made it what is today.
Yes it was a death sentence at the time and a horrible one at that (i.e : Freddy Mercury). Now people don't care about Aids and a lot just think "well if I do get it I'll just take the pills" but don't realize beside the side-effects of a lot of these which aren't very nice to put it mildly that your life will change dramatically. I don't have Aids but I remember just having a test in 1993 and being terrified the whole day. Luckily I had it done in a place where you got the results in 8 or 9 hours. Had it been 24 I'd have been a nervous wreck.

A true rivalry is when 2 elite players or 2 elite teams respect each other because they have EARNED that respect. It's not about teams and players throwing elbows and trying to hurt each other. Just because you view the other man as a competitor who wants to beat your tail doesn't mean that they cannot be your friend off the court. They are just simply a guy whose competitive nature drives you to another level, and you see that as a good thing.
@@irishgrl I have an older 52 year old half sister whose father was a deadbeat father. Bird has a daughter whom he’s never tried to have a relationship with. And yes, I’ve done my homework on this. Case closed.

My uncle passed away in 96 and it was exactly like that. Hurt all of us to watch someone u love suffer. Broke my mom's spirits down for many years.
