    Hi
    So, due to the legalities involved, I was not planning to record this, but last minute I thought, why not?
    So, as explained in the video, the bad remap (or not...), done by someone, deleted the DTC tables... making it very difficult to figure out what was putting the car into limp mode, as no codes were being logged...

    Thanks a lot. I finally found your video!!! It was the only error code that VCDS showed. The previous owner did not know what was happening and replaced the EGR and N75 vacuum valves, which did not help. Additionally, someone incorrectly connected a new 3-way fuel filter, the lid of which was rotten due to pressure, and the car was running very unevenly and was smoking abnormally because the injectors had too high return pressure!!!

    I have learned my lessons with remapped cars . When this became a regular thing I have had a few cases that almost drove me up the wall to get a car diagnosed and " fixed " . Lot of wasted time trying to find faults that weren´t there and that should have been there . This video might help someone who is pulling his hair out why his car isn´t giving a fault code .

      What is the point of deleting the "limp mode" ?
      Ecu puts the car into limp mode to prevent further damage when detects issues with certain components... deleting that function means the car will be running with the fault, making mode bad than god...

    @TheRojman Před rokem +1

    Sometimes this workaround does not work and this can be fixed with a remap, some factor numbers are changed for the turbo and it can work with simulating a working position sensor.
    I recently fixed this way a 2.0tdi Octavia that had this issue, worked like a charm. It was also cheaper and faster than replacing the actuator.

If the sensor is in the actuator part of the turbo loosing the bracket and moving the whole actuator might not be correct...what you think? Hi
      Interestingly enough, just had not long ago one with the exact same problem...
      In this case, I was not allowed to repair it, as the turbo was brand new, and the owner decided to take it back to whoever replaced the turbo...
      But, in this case, the turbo was the wrong one fitted to start with... was the garret when it should be a borgwarner... although I believe they are interchangeable...
      But either way, in my case, I tried a borgwarner sensor/actuator and the readings where fine straight away...
      I didn't try a garret sensor/actuator, has I didn't have one... but my diagnosis was the sensor/actuator faulty...

      Mine is a My2012 model maybe they started using garret from this year?

    how come it worked before and now needed an adjustment? it could be that it doesn't need an adjustment and the position sensor is faulty instead.
    if that's true, then the adjustment you did would make the sensor report the correct value when in fact it is not, but the limp mode doesn't occur because it thinks its fine?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před rokem

      @@LMAutoRepairs well it must have worked before, up to the point it didn't, right? And the reason it didn't was because it went into limp mode due to bad sensor readings?
      I can't imagine the adjustment screws loosening to throw the reading off, or the variable geometry in the turbo housing wearing so much it would throw it out of adjustment. so I imagine the sensor failed and gave bad readings even though mechanically the turbo was fine. So doing the adjustment put the readings in the correct range but in practice the variable geometry could be misadjusted.
      Not saying you're wrong, Just bouncing ideas.

      Difficult to say if it ever worked before... I mean, with the DTCs deleted who knows what was done to it...
      Now, even if the geometry is spot on, the sensor needs to be adjusted correctly... if you search a bit, you find the OEM documentation on how it is done... wich is essentially what I have done, but with a bit more technical info and blá blá... lol
      Hope it makes sense...
      Stay tuned, I have a similar situation coming on a Audi A1... perhaps the info on that answers some of your doubts...

      @@LMAutoRepairs i had another think about this and if the adjustment is made when the turbo geometry adjuster rod is in the resting position, all you are doing is aligning the sensor reading for that position, to that position, so all is well, turbo is and was good, and the sensor readings are now showing the right thing. I still find it strange how the readings went out of whack, it would still indicate the position sensor is going bad.
