- I'm so excited to share my last #vlogmas video of 2020! In this episode, my Mum and I head to Ripon (a small Cathedral city in North Yorkshire) to shop for books and beautiful antiques. We exchange a few of our Christmas presents (books, of course!) and show you what we bought on our shopping excursions. Thank you all for your support of my CZcams Channel in this past year. Mum and I wish you a healthy and happy Christmas and better times ahead in 2021!

Merry Christmas to you both! What a lovely edition of your vlogmas videos. I recently inherited my Mum's dresser full of spode and even though I don't collect the pieces they are growing on me more and more. Also more serendipity I knew Sylvia Gower. Sylvia and I were on the Mersea Island Society committee together and we were members of the same WI. I have her book as I am also a fan of Elizabeth Goudge. Sylvia was a lovely and interesting lady. Ronald Blythe lives near here too and many years ago now he came over one evening to sung evensong at our village church and gave the address, he was also such an interesting man to listen to. It is October 2021, the cold air has finally arrived in New England, I spent the weekend reading and browsing through antique shops and bookstores, and found a few goodies. Settled down with a hot cup of coffee to watch this. What a delight! My husband and I do the same...opening gifts a few days early and spreading it out over the season! You are both a joy to watch! My new favourite channel!
I realize this video is over 2 years old, and I'm not sure you'll even see this comment, but I have to say how much I am enjoying your channel. I've only been a subscriber for a few months, but every single time I watch a video, I feel a sense of peace. I have that book!...The Landscape of Anne of green Gables!!! I have been to Prince Edward Island and absolutely LOVED it. We went to the 3 Maritime Provinces; one of the most beautiful sections of the world! When we went there was NOT a bridge connecting Nova Scotia to P.E.I.. Many moons ago. My daughters and I huge Anne fans. Enjoy L.M. Montgomery books. Viewing this 2 yrs. after filmed.
Only trained eyes are able to buy the exact blue candle to fit in the new candlestick. Merry Christmas!

What a lovely, joyful video, and thank you for taking us along with you to Ripon. I managed to visit two bookshops today here in Edinburgh before everything shuts down: Golden Hare in Stockbridge and Portobello Books. Of course, I also managed to take some books with me after my visits! You found some lovely things at that antique shop. Your necklace is gorgeous as is the Wedgwood candlesticks. Do you know that Wedgwood made jewelry too? I have some pieces by them that I love wearing. That Moorcroft vase is lovely too. I used to buy one Moorcroft vase a year when visiting Scotland and was able to build up a collection of about a dozen. May you both have a wonderful Christmas, and better times for us all in the New Year!

How lovely to hear Sybil Marshall mentioned! She came to give a lecture on education when I was training years ago. She brought a neatly wrapped large parcel and put it on the desk in front of her, spoke for an hour and then said:”I suppose you’re all wondering what is in the box?” Indeed we were!! “Absolutely nothing!!!” Was her reply.... then she impressed upon us the importance of always keeping children’s attention by having surprises in front of them. Later they were obviously labelled Visual Aids but same idea 😂. Never forgot her! She was some lady!! Thanks for a super video...you make a lovely team!!

Oh thank you so much for sharing with us😌. I love the relationship you have with your mum as I think about mine when I watch you two. She was from Exeter and also loved to read and was every bit British in her ways. I gave her a signed British edition of one of Lee Child’s book as he was one of her favorite authors. I love a Traveller in Time, one of my favourite books. Been so lovely to watch this, though its several years later, thank you. My mum sadly died early in 2021, but she would have loved to watch these too. She gave me a deep love of books, with many of your favourite authors being ours too. During the first lockdown she wanted to reread Geogette Heyer books, so ordered her a regular supply from Amazon. She also enjoyed Josephine Tey, and Edmund Crispin who wrote early detective stories. Thank you Miranda, and Donna. I'm catching up, as have only recently found you, I'm so glad I did!

Doing a bit of binging on older blogs which I am so enjoying on this gray, wet Oregon day. I loved that little necklace and those twisted wooden candle sticks. I also love candles and am now going to light a couple as the light goes away.🍁
I also do enjoyed how you enjoy each other's company. My Mom died in February this year so we won't be sharing our Christmas in 2022 so I will enjoy yours in 2023.

Books are always the best presents. My mother knew that and always included at least one book each Christmas. This was so much fun to watch. I envy you two so much that you have each other. I miss my mother. You two also love a lot of authors that I love and that not so many people have read. I love Elizabeth Goudge and Miss Read. I'm a huge antique shopping (and candle!) fan and I thought your choices are beautiful!! I love the vase, teapot and candlesticks. Gorgeous candlesticks, both the twisted wood and the Wedgewood. Also I love that pretty vintage biscuit tin. Some wonderful gifts! The Landscapes of Anne of Green Gables looks gorgeous. I have wanted to visit Prince Edward Island since I first read 'Anne' and of course 'Emily'. I didn't think anyone else felt this way!
