A stimp is 36in because it's 3ft. That way you can flip the stimp end over end and measure how far the ball rolls without the need of a tape measure. Most stimps have notches on side at 1ft and 2ft just incase it doesn't roll perfectly out at 3ft, 6ft and 9ft etc. Hope this helps 👍

From working at a course to talking to other greens keepers. It should be between 9.5-10.....Unless you are preparing for tournament play. Which usually is between 10.5 to 12. That was my very first job! I worked at Marshall Country Club in Marshall Michigan! I have tbh, it was one of my all time favorite jobs! In I'm actually a certified Welder, was a certified Diesel Tech for a few years. I Trimmed trees for our Utility/Electricity company so I was a Professional Line Clearance arborist, climbing trees, running a bucket truck everything. Also was a Floor Care Specialist for a few years, stripping in waxing floors for factory offices break rooms, school flooring etc. In like I said, my favorite job. Which I think was the lowest paying job, was a Greens keeper! FYI: I loved golfing and was allowed to whenever I wanted, except on tournament days! If ur still reading this I apologize for rambling so much. I'm just a very detailed man! Lbvs!

I don't get it...how do u guys not have 3 million subscribers? Funny, entertaining, creative, educational...etc, it checks all the boxes. I'm glad I found this channel, glad I subscribed, and will share the hell out of your videos. Netflix will pretty much put a show out about anything, and 3/4ths of them are crap. I think your, "The Golf Shop" segments have the potential to be a successful series, like The Office, only in a pro shop or sporting goods store..i sure as hell would invest in it. I think its something people would watch and love. Not to mention require undergarment protection too..cause I about pissed myself laughing a few times. I wish y'all much success. Keep em coming.

Stimpmeters are great for a greens keeper to measure and compare multiple greens on one site. A lot of courses strive for consistency over speed. Speed is no good if one green is rolling a 12 and the next is rolling a 8. The other problem comes up when members start comparing greens from 2 different courses on 2 different days. Many variables come into play on a golf course case in point the results from this video. I would recommend taking readings of your green and logging them these readings can also show a lot about the health of the green over time. Fun videos great work.

Just to give your dad a pro tip on topdressing. I have worked at a high end course here in Canada and u can spread that wet sand using a shovel onto the green. We do that sometimes in the spring when things are too soft for the topdresser. Do it on a sunny day and sand will dry in s short time. Like one hour or less. Then use a push broom to run accross the green to work it into topdressing holes

Yo Randito. Hope all is well. I worked on a top notch course for a few seasons, and we never top dressed prior to rolling. Top dressing was only done when maintenance was performed, i.e. verticuts, punching holes, or spot fixes. I know you're probably getting all kinds of opinions on this. Good luck, sir.

If you guys want a little tip to get even more speed. Mow and roll the same day. When you roll make sure you roll really slow and that will help speed them up. The golf course I work at we mow everyday and roll about four times a week and our greens read about an 11 everyday!

having a device release the ball is potentially more consistent because of the consistent friction and release parameters (so to speak). Your finger could be sticky and pull the ball or add spin to it. Just chalk your finger or wear a cloth glove.
