    Thanks for another great review. The f/x rates are sky rocketing in my country nowadays so I thought it would be wise to do the investment sooner than later. With that in mind, I paid a visit to my favorite music shop yesterday and had the chance to try CN201, CN301, CA49 and CA901 side by side. I had played them all on different occasions but it was the first time that I had played back to back. First of all, I liked them all, they were all great instruments amd I think there isn't really a wrong choice here. Of course CA901 is the benchmark instrument, it is one of the best digitals that money can buy. As for the CN's, honestly I was thinking of buying a CN201 or, if I could get a discount, a CN301. But when I played them side by side (litterally) CA49 had a better touch, with deeper keybed, more control and even some vibration through the keys just like you get on an acoustic (not surprising considering it supposedly has the better action). But to my surprise, the sound presentation felt better to my ears than even the 301, let alone 201, with clearer mid range and growlier bass. And since it is an end of line product, I had a huge discount and the price was slightly less than the CN201. So I just ordered myself a CA49 for just under USD1800. I think I made a very good value purchase on an instrument that I will enjoy playing for many years to come. The downsides? I will surely miss the bluetooth audio of the CN's and the large variety of instruments on the CN301. Probably the headphone experience of the new generation chipset will be better as well. But what I will miss most are the connecting options for home recording. I think I will be spending the discount I got on a Roland FP30x for that purpose. Thanks again guys for giving lots of information on these pianos, they really helped making my decision.

    Thanks for the video. It clarified a lot.
    I went for a shop and tested many Kawai/Yamaha digital pianos from less expensive to most expensive. I was unimpressed by Kawai until I sitted at a CN 301. Wow. Just wow.
    I did test a CN 401 and could feel how magical the wooden keys are, but the price range is beyond what I was looking for (and I was a bit annoyed by the unintutive controls in such an expensive piece).
    After learning that a CA49 was at closer price range to the CN 301 but had wooden keys, I was pretty much in doubt. So this video was very clarifying. Thanks
    (still going with the CN 301)

      I would like to hear why you prefer the CN301 than the CA49. I don't have the chance to try them and I have to rely from opinions, but on paper the CA49 feels superior, the keys are wooden and looks more solid built to last

    I think another great option is the ES920 with stand and pedals which should still be cheaper than those two AND have extra benefits like portability, and a Superior rendering engine vs the CA49 and 301

    • @Thairpiano
      @Thairpiano Před rokem +1

      I totally agree, if one wants to look into these price ranges, ES-920 is the one that makes sense the most. If one wants to upgrade then imo should go for the ca-79 and beyond.

      @ProtipoAl Před rokem +1

      I'd get the CA49 if I were you. I was in the same boat as you, was just looking for a good instrument for practice, didn't care about the bells and whistles. I tried both and the CA49 had the better key action. I've owned one for about 4 months now. Keep in mind that there's a CA401 coming out so the 49 can be found with a pretty good discount. I suggest trying both instruments before buying though if that's an option.

      @dominic6055 Před rokem

      @@ProtipoAl Can you please expand on more what made you choose the CA49 over the CN301? Are you an experienced player to objectively say the key action is better?
      Reading the specs looks like the CA49 is better, but many people are favouring the CN301 and I don't have the chance to try them.

    • @ProtipoAl
      @ProtipoAl Před rokem +2

      @@dominic6055 Sure! So, no I'm not an experienced player, only an intermediate one. The grand feel compact action in the CA49 was slightly lighter (which I personally liked) than the RH3 action of the CN series and it was also easier to play deep in the keys. The last thing is something that for me was important as I want to gradually get into more advanced classical repertoire over time. Playing big chords deep in the keys (something like Chopin's Prelude in C minor for example) is quite difficult in some cheap digital pianos because they have short keysticks and the pivot point is right next to the key. The CN action was actually pretty good but the CA49 was noticeably better in that regard. If you look at pictures online of the actions you'll notice the difference in key length and where the pivot points are for each action. Both are great instruments actually and you're right that a lot of people prefer the plastic rh3 action which is also used in some very expensive Nord stage pianos if I'm not mistaken. I think the rh3 action has been around for longer and is proven to be very reliable so that's why I believe it sells so well. The wooden action of the CA felt closer to an acoustic one though. Also, at the time I bought my CA49, it had the same price as the CN301 because the replacement (CA401) was about to be released so that made it a very easy decision for me.

      @@dominic6055 Kawai offers 5 years warranty so I wouldn't worry too much about having the latest model. If you're not interested in the gadgety stuff of the 301, just get the 49 and start enjoying it! Also, the other thing that I personally liked is that the 49 is slightly taller and deeper so feels better to look at especially since I have it in my living room!
