The atmosphere during one of Ireland's biggest football matches (the Dublin derby) was electric inside of the Tallaght Stadium.

I've got numerous videos planned in the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland over the next few weeks. If you have any tips, drop them below! 👇👇👇
Could u come to an airdrie game for the league cup and sit round about the half way but plz I want to be in one of your bids
You have to come to the oval in Belfast. Glentorans ground one of the last classic grounds left. I'm a supporter would be happy to show you about if you like
St patricks v rover this monday. Pats fans are good west dublin derby
Any Shelbourne home game. Their fans are legendary
@@mauricefitz3296 not really let's be honest
Not many outside Ireland would know that Ronaldo made his debut for Real Madrid in that stadium.
I'm English but absolutely love everything about Ireland: the culture, accent, music (favourite band is the Dubliners), comedy, tv shows (Derry Girls and Father Ted) and the scenery. I went to Dublin for my 18th birthday and it is one of my favourite cities, we went on a Dubliners tour guided by me and also looked at a load of the historic places. Did you know the Irish for Dublin is Dubh Linh which means Black Pool.
It's actually Baile átha Cliath.
@@1888CR Sorry. I want to learn Irish but haven't started studying yet. But is the translation still the same.
Not a dig just good to know 👍
@@1888CR Thanks :)
Dublin is a hell hole . Go and visit a decent city like Galway or Cork and you’ll see proper Irish culture 👍
Shamrock fans would be shocked to know that we also have Bohemians in the Czech Republic. But Bohemians in the Czech Republic play in green and white just like Shamrock.
It would be really cool to see you at Sligo Rovers mate. Dixie Dean (Played 600 games for Everton) played half a season for us in 1940. He scored 7 goals in 10 games and got us to a cup final. We also have produced good talent over the years, with Seamus Coleman being a prime example. Everton bought him off us for €70k! Anyway you would be welcomed with open arms in the Showgrounds :)
Always have had an interest in Irish Football and am glad you have covered a game! Hope many more to come
If you make it over to Dublin and don't come up to Belfast to do a video on the Oval (Glentoran's stadium) you've definitely missed out big time! The stadium was bombed in 1941 and destroyed by the German Luftwaffe. There's still a WW2 pill box in the stadium from then and tons of other history. That's not even taking into effect that the stadium is one of the last of its kind in world football with the old school stands and terrace and some of the greatest players of all time have graced the pitch (Cruyff, Eusebio, Best etc). Also Glentoran are the only team from Ireland to win a European trophy (Vienna Cup 1914) and there was a recent BBC Documentary made about it and the Oval is the 2nd most popular stadium to visit for ground hoppers behind La Bombanera (Boca Juniors). I know you'll absolutely love the stadium. Contact the club and they'll arrange a tour for your channel!
It was an honor to have you visit Tallaght Stadium Sam. Lots of Rovers fans support your channel. I can remember suggesting you should come to Ireland a couple of years ago, and now you have delivered. I was sitting in the same stand as you but didn't see you. Either way thanks again for your visit, and remember your always welcome back to Shamrock Rovers.
Fair play to you man. I've been following you for a while and the clips are getting better and better. As a lifelong League of Ireland fan, this was very cool to see.
Love one day see an all Ireland soccer league ⚽☘️🏆. One island professional league.
Great to see you over in Ireland and giving our league some advertisement 😊 great video from a dundalk fan 🇮🇪🇮🇪
I traveled down from Northern Ireland I'm a fan of Distillery FC we play winter season so it was great to see a game of football it was my 1st league of Ireland game really enjoyed it, I have saw shamrock rovers play before in 2011 when they played Distillery in the setanta cup
Was at the game v Distillery in Dublin. Never made the away leg.
Were you in the video
My first Irish game as well on Friday; sat in the south stand at the front; so can very much see myself an awful lot in this vlog 🙂
Loved the atmosphere. Match quality wasn’t great; but I’d love to return for the atmosphere alone. Well worth the trip.
Just been to my 1st LOI match at Tallaght Stadium - wish it was next week Vs Bohemians - what a fantastic evening, Shamrock beat Sligo 2-1!
Inspired to go by THIS video.
Both Irish leagues could do with a lot more promotion. Thanks for this!
Great to see that you came over to Dublin to watch the derby
Nice tae see Irish fibaw get some recognition, great atmosphere 🇮🇪
That has to be the best sponsor integration I’ve seen in a while
Ah brilliant! Delighted you made it, I actually commented on a previous video about getting too one of these games 👊🏼🙏🏼
Linfield vs Glentoran Belfast boxing day derby is always a massive occasion in Northern Ireland!
Talking about the stadium attendence. It was sold out completely, 4 day before the game, where the south stand was sold out weeks before the game. On the south stand there was loads of people standing on the stairs etc, few empty seats on the stadium doesn't mean it wasn't full. Btw the gap had to be there between home and away fans.
7,600 were there if I remember; but game was a sell out. The block of 200 or so to separate the away fans
Cork City fan here and even though they're in the first division at the moment, they always have a good atmosphere too. I lived in Sweden for two years and would definitely recommend one of the Stockholm Derby's. AIK, Hammarby or Djurgarden. Watch any of those 3 teams play against each other. My team is IFK Norrkoping over there and they always have a good atmosphere, especially when Malmo, Gothenburg or the three Stockholm teams visit.
I work for a company based in Cork and am getting really, really interested in the Cork City story. There seems to be such a good and positive feeling around the club that it seems irresistible. If I get asked to visit the head office, then I really want to go to a game.
I have been to a gazillion rugby-GAA games, and wouldn’t have gone near a LOI game- not a big fan of soccer at all- but watching your video’s has changed my view, great stuff!,
I went to Shamrock vs Finn harps this year when I was in Dublin visiting family. Got to admit, one of best atmosphere's of a game i've been to! The hoops are a very welcoming and great crowd.
I know you shouldn't have 2 teams really... but being that i'm half Irish and half English, they're my Irish team (my Grandad was a fan)
Well done mate good to see you over in the emerald isle.
Footy adventures providing quality content yet again, keep up the good work Sam 🎉
Thanks for coming mate, hope you had a class time!
OMG YEAH! As an Irish man this was awesome! I Live right near bohemians ground and go to games regularly!. Hopefully I'll run into you next time!
Dublin guy here , just to congratulate you on a brilliant vlog. Hope you enjoyed your trip over
I'd love to be able to explore all the stadiums and go to all the football games you go too! Absolutely class.
Really enjoying the Irish vids. Wonderful to revisit grounds online which I attended whilst on tour in the mid-80s. Amazing to see how Shamrock's ground has been modernised in the intervening time. Great atmosphere BTW.
Keep up the great work my friend enjoying all your videos here in America
Eggball country😂
Massive game at Turner's Cross this Friday between Cork City and Galway United. Expecting a 6,000 sellout
No chance he'd go to an Irish 2nd division game.
I wish that you have been enjoying your Republic Of Ireland's trip and the match was fantastic, good friend Sam!!!:-D
Smashing it big yin, always great to see the different leagues.
Hopefully see shamrock back in the European group stages again.
Maybe Shamrock can go to the Conference League group stages. I don't see them beating decent teams and getting into the Europa League or Champions League group stages.
Really enjoyed your Vlog. , even as a Bohs getting beat was part of your journey. Love the fact you gave sound advice about the tourist trap of Temple Bar, moving minutes away will save you money, and get a better food experience! The tour looked great and PJ seemed to be a guy you could spend more time in his Company 👍Michael, the Rovers fan is a guy l could down with and talk football, he comes across as a level headed guy👍As a Bohs fan, may l suggest visiting Dalymount for the Dublin Derby. Sligo Rovers is also to be considered. Derry City are doing good thing, Look forward to you next Vlog.
Another great video Sam, I need to go to Ireland 🇮🇪 now
Live in the states the last 7 years, but lived down the road from this stadium, made me homesick..... Should have taken the luas much cheaper from the city...
Excellent, as usual👏😊
reason for empty seats is that people who buy them tend to crowd at the back of the stands if you look closely-empty seats dont look great but they are TAKEN its just the hardcore crowd at the back-same with the spaces at the BOHS side. Also the risk of trouble as both teams do NOT like each other tends to lead to some spacing needed but iots mainly the crowding at back causes it
Looks a great wee Derby 👍DEE4LIFE 👊💙
Lmao asking the taxi driver if he's been to shamrock rovers and he said not today like he was just going to end his shift and watch the football😭
Sam you should come to Dalymount for the reverse leg! Great exposure for irish football! Disappointed with the result as a Bohs fan but it was a very even game with a lot of passion particularly from Bohs.
Do you actually want to show Dalymount to the whole world and totally embarrass our league 🙄. He can cover it on one of his “derelict stadium” episodes instead
@@Beanbag777 finn Park and Oriel aren't much better mate if anything they're worse. Besides he's been to Luton and their stadium is in a row of houses.
@@matthewdooley9046 ya and I wouldn’t advise him to go to them stadiums either . I’ve been to Luton town and it’s very old and worn down but it’s a lot better kept then Dalymount. I’ve brought people to dalymount and they were shocked that it was still allowed to open. Bohs don’t seem to be bothered by it
@@Beanbag777 In fairness, at least there are plans to redevelope Dalyer but who knows when that's going to happen? Sadly, as we all know, embarrassing grounds and facilities are the norm in the LOI as we can see also in the likes of Drogheda, Dundalk, Finn harps etc...
Great video bud!
Next year do come over to cork to see a cork
City game. Trust me you’ll love the vibe and experience there😉
Thank god u r making these vlogs. With the summer break i feel like a junkie looking for a (football) fix 😂😂😂😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Me too. The telly is muck with no games or highlights on to watch
I'm the exact same. I'm lost without the football. Roll on the new season.
You are not alone
Sam that sponsor section is superb. Top man
Very class intro/small timelaps
Love your videos mate..A tip from a Dubliner though, don't go temple bar if you come to Ireland overpriced and not a true reflection of Dublin or Ireland
Yes it's expensive but I love Temple bar. Plenty more to Temple bar than pubs etc...Some excellent restaurants, art galleries, unique shops, open air concerts during summer, theatres etc... and one can go on. Point is there are also plenty of positives to recommend T Bar, in my view.
great, irish football !
It’s great that you came to see the Irish football league because many people don’t really watch it, it’s kind of sad because these teams are actually good. The Irish football league got 2 more places for Europa league due to Russia.
Thanks for watching mate. I've got loads of Irish topics to cover over the next few weeks :D Cool to hear there's some extra Europa spaces. I'd love to see some Irish European football this season!
No we get 4 spots we have 4 clubs in Europe didn't get any extra
@@daviddunne7794 thats what scotland have unless one of the teams do well for a few years
@@jamesi2018 in ireland we get a champions league place and 3 Eruopa conference league place where in Scotland I think it's 2 champions league place a eruopa league place and a eruopa conference league place. Could be wrong on that one
@@daviddunne7794 u r right except we get 2 conference league places bcos of Rangers
If the Irish FA actually cared this league would be proper professional they have the money.
Great vid ( from a Bohs supporter ). A good week for LOI with Sligo beating Motherwell and Pat’s getting thru in Slovenia. Standards have definitely improved since the switch to summer soccer. I’d say the LOI would be a mixture of the top of league one and middle of Scottish Prem.
"Sligo" did NOT beat motherwell.
Sligo is the name of the 2 gaa teams hurling and Gaelic football which occupy the 4th division of the national hurling and national Gaelic football league, Sligo Rovers on the other hand are TOP Division in League of Ireland football. Sligo Rovers are the Real Rovers, the other crowd are of course known as the Shams!!
The ad at the beginning was next level. it took me a few seconds to realise it was you.
Where would they fit cross Channel, probably league 2 upper half,Scottish lower Premier division and better than Northern Ireland league now. Great video, great you enjoyed Ireland.
Great video mate
Cheers Alan 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I can't believe how it was so sunny at the match. I live about an hour away from the ground and there was thunder and lightning
I was at the cork game, soaked through before the game felt sorry for all the teens going to watch Louis capaldi nearby...
Very very frightening
I’ve only been to one LOI game, Athlone v Limerick , Rory Gaffney was playing, easily the best player on the park, before he went to England to play ! Some crowd there, great atmosphere, looking forward to upcoming videos.
Shame how Limerick ended up
Treaty UTD doing ok thanks to JP buying back Markets Field, having a tough season because not fully professional like Cork,Waterford or Galway-shopuld have kept Limericks traditional blue and white colours as Limerick were nicknamed The Blues always.Good underage setup there-they'll be back, early 80s getting 8-12000 in Markets Field but have basics right there now
I’d recommend watching a match in the dalymount to see the difference between the two stadiums
Great Video! Born and bread in Coventry but mother was born in Dublin so have relatives in Dublin and Shamrock are there team so have a slight soft spot the the rovers! Lol
P. S.. You should Come to Cov for a video about are arena and how Wasps rugby team took are stadium from us! 👍
I’m a lifelong Rovers fan, but been in Oxford for the last 27 years. Best Loi teams would compete in EFL league one - defo not 2 or championship.
Derby at Dalymount tonight
Ta for your vid.
I’ll be at Oxford United v Peterborough on Saturday.
When in Dublin, take Bus number 41 from the airport into the city-centre. It only costs half of the price for the express-coaches and only takes a few minutes longer!
Then hop in a taxi and head south on the m7 until you get out of and away from Dublin
Always great to see foreigners at our games and long may it continue. To clarify the reason why the season was changed in 2003 to summer football was to ensure better European results and this has been successful with Rovers (not shamrock) becoming the first Irish club to play in group stages of European football in 2011. Of course the change has also meant better pitches like you saw in Tallaght and less postponed games. Work has started on the new north stand so we will have a 10,000 seater stadium soon.
Ferguson Desmond:
If it's not Shamrock then why is Shamrock the first name !
England onlookers tend to use the of a club unfamiliar to them . So do Scotland football club fans .
As an observer living in Co Kerry where Gaelic Football is king I've noticed Sligo Rovers fans refer to themselves as Rovers and Shamrock Rovers as The Shams!!
But remember this leaving aside all soccer banter Kerry FC are all set to play I League of Ireland 1st Division Level 2 next year 2023.
@@seosamhofionnaghain5555 Fergus and still Rovers.
Bohs. ☘🇮🇪⚽️
I love your football adventures but the BIG news is that Gareth Bale signed for LAFC in MLS. I am a supporter of the Seattle Sounders but that has got to have rocked the football world. I would like to hear your comments or a video on the transfers affecting Scottish football and the big ones as well.... such as what LAFC has just signed including an amazing Italian center back... can't think of his name.,,, and another video right before the start of the 2023 season on your Scottish predictions and the World Cup predictions.
Class
Dermot Desmond is a large share holder in Shamrock Rovers and Liam Scales came from there to Celtic who is now on loan to Aberdeen to get some game time 🍀⚽☘️
Shamrock Rovers v Bohemian was a great place to start and you've already been to Windsor Park for Linfield. So next stop is the Belclassico - Glentoran v Linfield. Go to the Oval, it's a great old school ground and the atmosphere will make Rovers v Bohs look restrained. Then you could take in Coleraine and Derry City in two leagues and one weekend if you get the schedule right. Next up Cliftonville v Crusaders at Solitude or a Larne game in the Irish League and Dundalk, Cork City or Bohemian in the League of Ireland. Though any of them are geat really.
For your information its Shams v Bohs for short !!
Brilliant mate you came to Dublin I've been at you a while to come over big respect my friend 👍
Cheers Wayne! I've literally just uploaded a UCD AFC video as well. Got loads of other cool Irish videos planned. Thanks for keeping on at me for coming over! It's great to finally make some Irish content

We’re playing rovers tomorrow 🔴⚪️
Man vids like this made me miss Dublin.
One day you should come over to Canada to sample the Canadian Premier League.
Check out the Golden Horseshoe Derby between Forge FC (Hamilton, ON) and York United.
You could also the Al Classico between FC Edmonton and Cavalry FC (Calgary, AB).
For something really interesting, you could check out the Coastal Clash between Pacific FC (Victoria, BC) and Halifax Wanderers.
The reason those concrete plinths are at the back of the west stand is because the original plans included corporate boxes which were never built, this stand is the only one that was built from the original plans all the others are different, its a long story which I hope you get to cover in another video.
Visit Richmond Park in Inchicore, St Patrick’s Athletic ground - were playing at home to Shamrock Rovers Monday night
Next year you should go to Falkirk vs Dunfermline in the Dunfermline end 😉 brilliant derby
Come to northen ireland and watch glentoran vs linfield at winsor park would recommend the away end with the glentoran fans
The last time a was there with the school in 2008 in the league cup at tolka park vs. Athlone town. What a time.
Rovers are League One/Two standard in England, Lower half of the Scottish Prem.
Shams are League 2 standard if competing in England and the other 9 are Conference Standard or the Division below conference Level 7 on the English football pyramid.
I'd see Rovers sit comfortably in the Scottish Premiership fighting for European football, but with room to grow with a few seasons
I would say say about 8th in
The Scottish Championship I would see Shamrock Rovers as similar in size as a club such as Ayr United.
But I dont think comparisons such as this is easy because financially it's a difrent kettle of fish for League to League.
If Shamrock Rovers played within
The Scottish league system would home crowds go up would they go down would better Sponsors come on board it's all difficult to say without it actually happening in reality.
I would not mind clubs in Scotland , Nothern Ireland, Republic of Ireland & Wales playing in one league structure I think it would be made to work well perhaps
@@alanfox691 why would Scotland want to combine our leagues with Wales and Ireland?
Lower mid table SPL
@@albertmccready478 SPL doesn’t actually exist anymore.
Lewis Beattie:
Shamrock would be in League 1in Scotland while the other 9 would occupy Scots League 2 which IN REAL NUMBERS IS THE SCOTLAND 4TH DIVISION.

Be prepared though for the third world facilities in the wee county.
