    You missed the most important aspect of this video. That is to show people why this watermelon is that expensive and is it worth the price. So, cut it opened and explain the quality of the fruit and so on. Who cares how it’s grown until you can convince the consumers this is truly a special melon.

    • @J1WE
      @J1WE Před 2 lety +42

      Japan has a big culture of gifts of fruit to each other. Expensive fruits are popular. Japan is very good at building speciality industries around things.
      Is it placebo to think it taste better because it was cared for better? Done unconventually? Think about their beef? Its special and so there's a price for that.
      Has this video not intrigued you to go look it up and learn more about it ?

    I thought it was some kind of special watermelon only to find out it is the common watermelon that can easily and cheaply be found in the markets where I'm from.
    It's so common that as a child this dark green almost black watermelon variety was the only one I identified as watermelon.

      I think they meant black is the inside also black. Usually common ones are red inside if not then nothing is special about black being outside.

      Lol they are fooling people by deliberately producing only a limited quantity of watermelon. There is nothing special about these watermelons.

      Actual they grafted another kind of plant ontop thats why it took and extra month and a half of care... might start off a regual water melon but another plant was added to it making a new plant...
