the UK is a world power. it isn't unchallenged obviously but it is one of the 8 (Eight) Great powers, the UK has tons of overseas territory and under official pre-requisites is still an empire as it has territory outside of it's borders not only that but in every continent. BUT still the empire days were bad in as many ways as it was good the working conditions of empire citizens weren't ideal the empire wasn't as free as modern day UK less civil liberties also while many colonies of the British empire was booming the native populations suffered greatly. having a massive empire doesn't benefit anyone but the rich or the Monarch/Goverment of the original country it causes war creates corruption and having central powers thousands of miles away in a different continent isn't good for the countries that are ruled by it. i'm not exaggerating i live in the UK, nobody but a few would want it. however having a singular country as powerful as the empire used to be would be a benefit to the UK ofc and you'd be stupid if you didn't want a massive economy and military to protect it. ( just like the USA today ) i just don't believe owning 1/3 of the earth landmass is worth it

You should try a game of vanilla HOI4 after giving every AI every technology- Just the "research all" command on every country- and see what ends up happening. Maybe also leave the "ic" command on so they'll all just build a ton of buildings.
