I worked in a sand and gravel operation for a short time.We had a dragline pulling material out of the water,and stockpile.Drove a 6 wheeler.Wonderful machine!! Just put in all wheel drive,and go !!!

Looked like you were in your element there. What a fabulous sight/site. I could watch this all day and not get bored. Thank you for allowing us to see something so magnificent.
I used to work midnight to 0800 on a 14x12 hydraulic cutter head dredge on the intercoastal waterway. We typically could do 3000 cu yards in 24 hours, depending on material and distance. We often had over a mile and a half discharge line. Used draglines to build the disposal areas (dikes around settling ponds). Very similar to what you saw, but add tidal currents continually working to rip all the pipe apart. It was a privilege to work with them, and I learned a lifetime in those years. So much to break and fix and understand! Brutally hard and cold and hot work, some of the best memories of my younger life. Done correctly, amazingly efficient. Done poorly, gigantic dangerous money pit. Nothing in between.
I’m on a river dredging project right now on night shift with a D5 pushing to the dredge. We’re widening a river. We’re contracted to move about 800,00 cubic yards

Ever since Chris and Dirt Perfect first introduced us to Mr. Digg I have been watching his videos. It is mind boggling everything this man does. Very educational.
Another fascinating video into what most people will never see in their lives. Presumably the start up of the machinery each working day must be sequential? A to B to C and so on.The host man is very impressive - concise with his words, very knowledgeable, and extremely polite. Simple and easy to undertand American English without emphasis and devoid of repetative sentences. One of the better quality documentary videos that tehnically minded people will enjoy watching. Well done.
Been watching for many years. The video where you’re cussing out a long reach excavator with the wrong pattern (waaaaayyyyyy back) and this one are in my top five favorites. This dude is awesome and I’m going to follow his channel for sure.

Really interesting to see how this is done in other parts of the country. Out west, where I live, "our" plant like this is in a gravel bed from an old river...sand, aggregate, all come from the plant to be used for gravel roads, concrete, etc. They even recover a wee bit of gold from the operation.
It to bad that each state doesn't have an operation like this one. We should have an operation some what like this for house whole trash it would be less land being wasted on landfills

Man glad you got to come down and see what all Ryan has his hands in. An outstanding guy that is super resourceful. We use his concrete sand on our golf course for sanding fairways to help keep them firm. He is always willing to help us out any way he can.

This operation isn’t to far from me. It’s a great benefit to our community. I’ve used a lot of his mulches over the years. All of the cement plants in and around the CSRA (Augusta, Martinez, Evans, Appling, Harlem, Thomson Georgia and beyond) also North Augusta, Aiken, Beech Island South Carolina the sand from Atomic sand to make cement. Great video! You must have been on I 20 on the way back from Florida.
Hi Chris. That Kaolin (white clumps) being dug up from the sand pit isn't just waste. It has quite a few uses like its what is used in kitty litter, Supasorb used for oil and other liquid spills as an absorbent, in ceramics, a paint additive and many more uses. If the layers are thick enough, Ryan said 15' in the vid, it could be viable to be processed out on the sand washing screen, as you could see in the video. It just rolls off the top screen with the initial water spray Ryan could have another little earner there. What an operation he has there plus his other operations.

This has been an amazing series to watch Chris. Thank you, for sharing this all with us and spending the time to put it all together. It is greatly appreciated :). Mr Digg certainly has a great operation there. He has put a lot of thought into it and it shows. It also shows he has invested an awful lot of money into that operation. None of that equipment looked cheap and then there is ongoing maintenance and running costs. While it is true one could "skip" maintenance it is not wise as it will bite you later on. Mr Digg does not look like the sort of man who mistreats equipment but instead keeps it in top notch working order ( Nor tolerates those who mistreat equipment ). Was thinking in that regard he appears to be very much the same as you Chris :)
We have Kaolan pond in Monkton Vermont on hardscarble road,it's the same stiff you held in hand,clay,and I know of a huge pile I could buy so cheap and use for a pond know that I know more about it.New haven Vermont is a plant that does Process it for something. I remember going there when I was a kid. My mother's boyfriend worked in. There so thank you this is really educational and helpful for me

The JD 844K could be named two scoops. Because with two buckets it filled the truck.
