- My first little photography adventure on this channel! Join me as I look for wildlife and capture images at my local pond using my Pentax K-3 III and an Olympus 740UZ. I see a dried up pond, some birds, make a classic photography mistake, and more!

If this video is a preview of what the channel will be, then it's gonna be great
David, thanks for the kind words! I hope to have a lot of fun over here. Anything you'd like to see in particular?
What a nice little morning trip. This channel seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun!
1:18 - cursing Pentax's decision to not include a flip screen :D Great shots regardless! And the C-740UZ was my first digital camera.
Enjoying your new channel 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Morten!
Hi James, I hope that you will find some time to update this channel with some new adventures :) Great videos btw!
Very beautiful birds. It's a shame that they're soon to be homeless. I wonder if they will migrate and relocate themselves, or if they will stay in the area and starve. I truly hope y'all get some decent rain really soon.
Anyway, great job! And thank you for sharing the adventure with us.
Great idea James. The YT algorithm is a nightmare sometimes! I'm still trying to figure out which way I want to go with my channel, this could be an option in the future? Nice first video 👍
I don't know either. I knew I wanted to make both types of videos, that is casual vlogs and the more edited videos, but in my attempts in the past posting the vlogs in my other channel resulted in it not being shown to as many people. Which is fine, I'm not hoping for crazy high views on vlogs, just don't want it to somehow hurt my other stuff. So less stress this way and more fun 🎉
Awesome! Really enjoyed it and looking forward to more photo adventures!
Thanks for tagging along!
Awesome first video! Looking forward to new content!
Thanks for stopping by! I'm excited to do more of these in between my content for my other channel. Should be fun :)
I liked it! Good work sir.
Thanks! And thanks for checking it out :)
Delighted to see this James! The snappiness channel is a blast, but this is quite another gem on its own. Seriously man, where do you get the time?! With you the best in your new endeavor.
The time comes in waves, sometimes I have more time on my hand than others that's for sure! But I love to do it, so I make time!
fun! (aside from sadness over drought.) i really enjoyed following along, anything you post is great! i’d love to know how you learned to identify owl feathers and what the other birds are, if you know. they’re not what i’m used to
Those were tricolored herons and this was the first time I've seen them. There's been a lot of different wildlife activity this year, and being the novice I am I'm attributing it to the extra dry climate. I wonder if animals are more desperately moving to find water.
I couldn't do without a Battery Grip on K3 iii
That couldn't be the deepest part of the pond. There are obviously lower areas (where we can se water).
Fun video. I like this kind of stuff. And it works as a bit of a fix when we can't get out and shoot. A bit of reality TV there with the dead battery. Been there! It's kind of fun to compose a shot with the camera off and then turn it on for a quick snap. DSLR perks :)
I guess that's true, couldn't do that with mirrorless! I wouldn't say it's super fun though... Lol
@@snappinessvlogs Well I wasn't photographing wildlife when I did it. That probably wouldn't be fun for me either. 😆 Plants are more patient subjects :)
Nice shots, you seemed to have warmed up to the K3-III.
I love it :) such a great camera. Once it comes down it price a little more I'll keep whole heartedly recommending it :)
@@snappinessvlogs I'll be getting my used copy in about a week. It was less than I paid for the K5 when it first came out so I figured a fair price.
@@ML-gb7cn fantastic! Have so much fun with it. Are you coming from the k5 or a different camera?
@@snappinessvlogs still have the K5 as well as the original K3. I'm hopeful that autofocus is a bigger jump in improvement than that was. IMO the IQ of the K5 was already pretty good, but I'll gladly accept even better IQ too. Love the videos keep up the good work.
@@ML-gb7cn Yes, the AF is a good leap in my experience. The biggest model to model leap for Pentax. Still apparently not up to snuff with older D500, but for us pentaxians a nice jump. And you'll appreciate the IQ jump from the K3. It's not that much more than the KP, but the KP was fantastic in that regard. I really enjoyed that camera, just wished it had the body style and more pro features of K3 style, and that's what we have in the K3III :) Have you seen my K3III video on my snappiness channel a few months ago? I explain more of my thoughts there. Anyway, have fun!
I love your camera reviews. If you take that style and apply to this new genre, it’s gonna be gold!
Edit 2: Yeah, I’ve been guilty of going out with a nearly dead battery. Several times … and a few times with the SD card still plugged into my laptop … at home.
Yep, SD card has gotten me too!
Ahh new channel
Should be lots of fun :)
Did you update to firmware 2.0?
I haven't yet, but I just saw that. I'll do it soon.
