- Sirisena’s petty agendas that cost the country dearly was further made clear a short while ago before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing Easter attacks, when suspended IGP Pujith Jayasundara in his testimony said Sirisena specifically did not want him at the National Security Council sessions post Constitutional Coup in 2018.

“I received instructions after October 2018 that my presence at the NSC was not required,” the suspended IGP told the PSC. When MP Ashu Marasinghe inquired whether the instructions were written or verbal, Pujith said, “It was verbal…invitations to the NSC are made verbally…I am unable to recall the exact date, but in the evening that day at around 4.30 pm I told then Defense Secretary Kapila Waidyaratna I had not received a notification to attend the NSC scheduled for that evening. He said, “Sorry Pujith I did not want to embarrass you. As you asked me, this is what happened, HE has told me not to tell you…HE meaning the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka”
It seems Sirisena outshines Rajapaksas in running the country like his private fiefdom, preventing top brass of the security apparatus from attending National Security Council, which according to Sirisena’s own Twitter account convened bi-weekly.
When inquired why he thinks he was not invited, Pujith said, “It seemed to be a lack of trust in me. Maybe the police.” The last NSC meeting Pujith had attended had been on October 23, 2018.
At that meeting, the transfer of IP Nishantha Silva of the CID, who handled several high profile cases including the abduction and assault of Keith Noyhar and murder of Lasantha Wickrematunge, had been discussed. Pujith says he was pressured several times by Sirisena and through his Defense Secretary then, to transfer IP Silva.
Pujith corroborates National Intelligence Chief Sisira Mendis’ claim before the PSC - that the impending attacks led by Zaharan was discussed on April 9 at the National Intelligence Coordination meeting but only as a side issue. Also admits he received letters instructing law enforcement to be alerted regarding situation, which he did in writing accordingly.
He also added he has never visited the State Intelligence Service (SIS). The suspended IGP said even though he made several attempts to visit like he did other units, he never received a positive reply.

As I know in 2019 when the Pasku Sun day attack took place killing over 260 persons mostly in churches and injuring around 500 persons Maithreepala Sirisena was the Executive President and Defense Minister of GOSL. Ranil Wickramasinghe was the Prime Minister. The official warning was repeatedly received to the Government. Intelligence officers, Chief of Police and Defense Secretary had knew the warning. Maithreepala was repeatedly answering he did not receive the morning. As others response it could observe Maithreepala was aware of the warning. Even if he did not know as Executive President he should have formulate the system to receive such important information immdiately.
Having received the GOSL warning at the time of Pasku attack Maithreepala has travelled abroad without handing over the Defense Ministry to any one. Even if there was no risk attack Deefense Minister should hand over the duties before travelling abroad. As I know a fine of over Rs million was imposed to Maithreepala for irresponsibility . Maithreepala's irresponsibility killed over 260 persons and around 500 persons were injured. As I know Maithreepala paid part of the fine to judiciary and forwarded his plan to pay the rest of the fine. If you veryfy in jails many persons may be there who could not pay a fine of may be Rs 5,000/ Equality? Maithreepala may want to show he has money. Some times I observe for money Maithreepala became a joker after being the President in 2015. Now for Maithreepala every thing is a joke? There may be three crimes a day in Sri Lanka today
We are a bankrupt country We should attract investments. Rule of Law, equality is important. Due to the irresponsibility of Maithreepala Sirisena over 260 were killed and around 500 persons were injured. If Mathreepala took proper action this calamity would not happen. Today Maithreepala is a Ruler , Member of Parliament. I suggest nominations for any person for contesting to become a ruler, or an officer should not be an offender after an offender through a verdict.
