How to clean ink leaks and dirty rollers on Instax Mini, Wide and Square cameras

- In this video, we look at why ink-like stains appear on Instax films and we'll also look at how to clean them. These ink-like stains are actually the developing chemicals inside the film. When the film is expired and becomes dry, the chemicals leak out instead of being held inside the print, causing stains on the print and on the rollers. The rollers can be cleaned so that your camera can be used again.

It's a little caustic. Might irritate skin but probably will be ok if you washed it off immediately.
This just happened to me with my instax mini 9 :( I tried using your advice but the black streak won’t disappear on the roller.. any other help would be greatly appreciated!!
There's a way to clean the insides of the camera but it has to be partially disassembled to do that. If you're confident that you have the mechanical/tech skills to do that to your camera then here's the short guide to it: 1) Use a guitar pick or old credit card to remove the ejection port cover, the "0" shaped piece of plastic where the film comes out. 2) Once the cover is removed there's a black felt/cloth/rubber material there, clean the gap between the material with cotton buds dampened with a little water. 3) if that still doesn't fix it, the camera will need to be disassembled, front and back covers removed, rollers removed from the assembly and manually cleaned. Then they must be reassembled again.
I think this is the problem I’m having with my Instax mini. I have one question though. Is it possible to remove the main cover on the film case? I have no way of inserting used film back into the case because of the plastic cover and I’ve found no way to remove it so far. Thank you!
If the film pack is already empty, it's easier to reload the pack if you remove the shiny black tape on the slot that the film comes out of. It is possible to sort of dismantle the whole case-it snaps together but you'll need a lot of force to do it.

Hi! I really need some help with my instax mini 9! Its been a while since I’ve had it and it stopped working. I changed now the batteries and still nothing. I changed the tape into a new one ( the last one got stuck but i figured it out) and its still not working.
No power means it's a problem with batteries, wiring or electronics. Try cleaning the batteries, see my video czcams.com/video/p4UQ0KE_n24/video.html.
I wish I would have found this video before I saw the q-tip advice. I’ve completely jammed my rollers and now I’m going to have to get inside of my camera and make sure I pick everything out. Is there any way you could make a tutorial on how to get to the instax mini 8 rollers? I’m not having any luck finding tutorials for that.
Look for any mini 8 disassembly videos and make sure you understand the risks of doing so because its not easy. Basic procedure is to remove the casing screws, pry open the 2 plastic casings to reveal the camera chassis. 2 tension springs hold the rollers together, remove them by taking out 2 long silver screws. You can take out the rollers for cleaning after that.
