Well done Minister. Gravy train coming to a screeching halt 😅 Most people have to sit in traffic to/from work, made worse by poor service delivery, so especially those officials living in the Cape Town or Tshwane/Ekurhuleni/JHB - why do they need additional accommodation when they live relatively close to the relevant office ? Cost-cutting their own expenses charged to us is one of the easiest ways for politicians to prove how much they care about the poor and thus leading by example.

They earn 2.5 million a year. They all should pay for their own accommodation. You can buy a studio apartment for 1 million in cape town, which you can then easily sell or rent out at a profit after 5 years. It's ridiculous that their tax payers must fund their lifestyle with a 2.5 million salary a year.

Why can the ministers not pay for their own accommodation? They earn 2.5 million a year.

Imagine how many jobs are going to be created in infrastructure development now that it’s going to infrastructure instead of mattress protecters.

R3,000 for a mattress protector!! GOOD LORD! When i purchased my new bed a couple months ago, they threw in a protector for R99. Thats crazy, and people wonder why the Government are billions and billions of Rands in debt. Careless spending an borrowing. Glad to see we are finally moving somewhere without the ANC having full control.

It's an encouraging direction towards cost-cutting measures but the real elephant in the cost-cutting room is Big Construction Businesses, that accounts for most of the costs in that department.
So, good start, but until all malfeasance in the Construction business is done away with, then this is just a drop in an ocean.

Total rubbish. Do you know anything about construction? Maybe you're thinking of the disgraceful Construction MAFIAs? Or haven't you hear about the Guptas and the Zumas? Dear God man wake up!!!!!!!!

Polpark (housing for senior SAPS) staff in Newlands Cape Town, opposite St Andrew's Church is in a poor state of care and repair - why not paint it and provide the people who live there with some dignity as well.

Up the road from us is the Minister of Foreign Affairs Official Residence ... lovely impressive site - daily manned by a SAPS guard. In 10 years since living here and walking past the house daily, I have not once seen it occupied.

If the tender process can be run on merit instead of race or favour it will be a good start but BBBEE has tied your hands.
