FOX DHX RC4 Shock Full Service + Tips PART 1

  • This is how I went around servicing my RC4 shock.
    Relative simple procedure if you’re mechanically orientated. I found a brilliant service procedure on the FOX website, link is below; and i just followed that.
    I found locally and used: Torco 15W RFF oil (specification: 8.40@100 and 33@40 and 240VI)
    Was brought from: mxstore.com.au
    Tools required:
    - Normal allen key set
    - 32mm Park Tool headset wrench (either one: HCW6/7/15) (3mm thickness MAX)
    - 1” and ½” wrench or adjustable spanner
    - Shock pump
    - Vice
    - Callipers
    - Pliers
    - Torque wrench (if possible)

    You've done by accident the very thing I'm struggling to do - I need to inscrew the shock 'can' from the cast 'head' where the piggy back chamber is. Was it just the same thread as the spring retainer? Did you just thread the can back on by hand? Thanks for the vid :)
