- All Gas No Breaks 2021 Main Event, Role Call! The snappers showed out! Big up to Lil Red for throwing a dope party at one of NJ's finest rinks, Sk8 47 in Franklinville, NJ.
If you're unfamiliar with what "snapping" is, it's a roller skate style said to have originated in Baltimore, MD, trickling out into the surrounding areas (I'd say Philly through northern VA is the snap zone). One person skates forward with their arm held out while a second person skates backwards flipping back and forth on one foot in various patterns, using the outstretched arm for balance. It can be done solo or in a train as well.

Okay, how can I learn this???
Hang around the rink enough and it may just rub off!! Really though, just lots of hours on wheels.. and lots of exposure... and a little fearlessness lol... I find that learning specific skate styles, even after you get the technique down, sometimes the hardest thing to pick up is the rhythm/flow of it. Different skate styles step on different beats and such. But the only way to really grasp it is to just see it done, A TON.
