The Twycross Zoo gorillas have a new board on the platform, and Shufai is putting it through its paces. First, he sits on the pole, contemplating his testing procedure. A knock here, a slide there-yep, you can slide on it now, which is a bonus since that wasn’t possible before. Next up, a back wiggle slide and a hop-rolling is now on the menu too. Shufai dismounts but is soon back for more. He tests the chest beat jump and slide-yep, solid. What about a hop, bend down, and fall to the ground? Yep, that works as well, but to be thorough, he repeats the hop and fall. Finally, a last pat, a seal of approval. Gorilla-approved: Shufai's test of Twycross Zoo's new board is complete. Let's see how long it lasts.
Although Shufai enjoyed trying out this makeshift board, I would have preferred to see the new enrichment structure planned last year. Not sure what happened to that idea.
Corrections:.
0:21 Update: They have since finished the platform with new logs on top of the plywood. They also now have a little suspension bridge. The old hammock from inside is now outside, and there is a new braided hose hammock outside.

He completed all the moves he could possibly use on it😂 was like an ad on tv when they ‘demonstrate’ how a product is tested to see how strong and durable it is. He even knocked on it using his knuckles! Classic 😂 omg.

Here she is 13 yrs ago, with a new bench in a since-then updated playroom. As per usual, doll in hand. They just discovered shortly after she arrived 16 yrs ago that she likes to have a doll with her at all times, although why is something only she knows: preferences are trolls, Dora and friends, Starwberry Shortcake and friends, and now Ariel (I think non-plastic hair is required to qualify😄)

Yes, I was there when he came out to test the final log flooring too, little tyke really gave the temporary board some testing!
I'm glad they didn't leave it like this, it wouldn't have lasted much longer with his testing skills😂. If you are there today, you probably see the new bridge and braided hose hammock as well. Hopefully they raised it a little as it was near the grass and not very stable.

Awww Shufai has grown so much. At least he's able to amuse himself with the platform without big brother to play with. I wish I could see the two boys goofing around together again!

Lope always appeared more 'square-shouldered' than Shufai but it may be that Shufai's trapezium muscles are more developed. He does however, apart from his 'little paunch' seem more 'barrel-chested' and has well developed upper-arms.

Yep all good here. That is some temperature 😲. How do you cope in such a heat? Luckily a more bearable 24-26 degrees here at the moment and next week back down to 20. My perfect temperature 😁.

I can't stop thinking about the gorillas from the ZooParc de Beauval, how much fun they have with so many youngsters. I do wish Shufai had that as well. Shufai really does need a buddy.

Actually I would test it too because the boards look loose, it’s a pinching hazard.
As I wrote in the description they have actually finished the board now and it's proper logs on there now. Which are really sturdy.
@@SloggerVlogger the gorilla’s got more sense than the people doing the thing. Why was the animal allowed to get on the platform when it wasn’t secured properly. It’s not about reading description for all I know you edited it after my comment! If that was my video I wouldn’t have uploaded because I could see it would trigger animal lovers for the wrong reasons.
I show how things are and not how they should be. I wasn't happy with the board either, certainly not long term and voiced this. The board itself looked secure enough for the time being and Shufai enjoyed himself testing it. We know now that that was just temporary and they've got a proper logs on top now. Most the staff don't get the time to do the whole work in one go as the gorillas get agitated when those doors stay closed for too long. So they probably did this in two stages, but it didn't mean it wasn't secure in the mean time.

Hi. Yes I do believe Shufai is missing his big bro as well. He really could do with someone younger in the troop. I didn't get to see much of the Chimpanzees, who weren't close to the Gorillas. Chimps are definitely not as calm as Gorillas are. I thought the zoo was OK, but it's a shame Lope is so far away. What didn't you like about the zoo, was it just the Chimps?
Just goes to prove how bored they get and get excited about something new. Poor animals.

@SloggerVlogger That is so sad . So, in all the Zoo's or sanctuaries in the world,they can't even find a bachelor troop to send them to. Why don't ALL the countries start building more space. All the money out there, I mean, come on. UAE has enough money to build many places in every country.
