  • Monitoring is important for any infrastructure, including AVD. Microsoft provides a tool for managing AVD called AVD Insights. This tool uses Log Analytics to store performance and event information sent from the host pool, workspace and session host VM’s. This video reviews how to configure AVD Insights using the Azure Monitoring Agent (AMA).

Thanks Travis for this wonderful video.
Would you please advise do we have to add extension and perform these tasks for every new session host??
If yes, then is there a workaround to automate this process.
    Cheers

Hi Travis, awesome content. do you have any videos in detail about migrating from Microsoft managing agent to Azure monitoring agent. i have a few log analytics workspace which i would like to but i have not found any detailed videos or steps. The Microsoft article isnt very clear about the migration. any help would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks for the video Travis. Any chance you will create a video to automate the process of adding new sessions host to monitoring? Maybe using an Azure policy or a PS script?
Unless you know of someone that already did this, I would appreciate if you could share the article.
    Thanks

Thanks for the video. I'm not clear why the session hosts need Managed Identities for this. That's not normally needed for the AMA/DCRs/Log Analytics etc. Does the wizard grant any RBAC to the hosts' MIs? If not, why are they needed?

The old MMA agent authenticated by a workspace ID and a key. The new AMA agent is authenticated with an Entra ID token and the managed identity. The new method is more secure.

@@Ciraltos Do we need to apply any RBAC for the VM system managed identity on DCR? How does DCR connect to LAW?

Hi Travis. Is your Zero to Hero AVD still up to date? I bought the content a while ago via Udemy

There have been some UI changes, but the theories still apply. I plan to review and update early this year.
