우리나라 강원도 속초 이북의 동해안 지역에 나며, 러시아 사할린, 일본 등에 분포한다.
줄기에 좁은 날개가 있고, 잎에 털이 없고 두꺼우며 윤이 난다.
바닷가 산지에 자라는 여러해살이풀이다. (한반도의생물다양성)
