Great video, I live and work with birding tourism in Costa Rica. I always love going to the Obs. lodge, one of the best sites in the country. Thanks for making me this!

Thank you! We were in the Arenal 2 years ago, and recognize some of your locations. We'll be back, and looking for more birds

Great job. Very nice footage! Heel mooi gedaan. It was a great way to practice birding and figure out the names using my Costa Rica birding book, especially since you didn't show the name right away. I appreciated that. Thanks!

    Bird at 8:03 is a Wilson's Warbler.
9:27 Bay-headed Tanagers do not show sexual dimorphism. I would say it is a juvenile or a female Rufous-winged Tanager.
    11:54 Banded Peacock (butterfly)
    14:56 Red-lored Parrot

    14:48 Wrong ID, that's not a White-crowned Parrot.
    That's a Red-lored Parrot!!

Stunning video, sound track is great, production also very good. I have been to the lodge many many times, you captured in three days some birds I've never even seen. The long-tailed tyrant was quite a prize. I would like to ask you what type of video camera you were using and what lens. Also, was the sound track recorded via the video camera? Thank you for sharing.

I used during that trip a Panasonic HC-X900. Today I use a Sony 4K consumer camera type FDR-AX53 fitted with the same old high grade 2X teleconversion lens Sony VLG-HG2037Y, providing a tele of 1000mm photo equivalent in HD. If recorded in 4K and cropped during editing in HD I can reach a 1800 mm equivalent.
I use this option only if the bird is not moving too much since the frame rate is only 25P in 4K.

I am not a huge fan of people using big flashes for photographing birds. Some species are very flash sensitive and become difficult for other people to enjoy in the wake of flash photography.

Love your fab videos, hopefully travelling to Costa Rica in February '22.
So may I ask what make and model Flash Light Diffuser Softbox your partner uses, as I think I will need one for the trip.

it is a flash extender see "better beamer" on the internet.
it concentrates the light of your flash and allows to get strong illumination at fairly large distance.

That demographic is changing. Yes, I'm now 40, but I have been avidly birding since the mid 90s.

Konuşma sesleri sıkıyor, rahatsız ediyor. Bir de bayanın devamlı kıyafet değiştirmesi.
