Great job!! I'm 59 years old and I love seeing the younger generations actually taking the time to listen to all ABBA's music. It's really interesting to hear different lists and what songs they find interesting. It doesn't matter what order you have for the albums, just the fact that more people are paying attention to ABBA is the important thing. Thanks again!!
1. Super Trouper- Best track: Lay All Your Love on Me 2. The Album- Best track: The Name of the Game 3. The Visitors- Best track: The Visitors 4. Voulez-Vous- Best track: If It Wasn't for the Nights 5. Arrival- Best track: Knowing Me, Knowing You 6. ABBA- S.O.S. 7. Voyage- I Still Have Faith in You 8. Waterloo- Honey, Honey 9. Ring Ring- Disillusion
"That's me" is a great track and Arrival needs to be higher. :) "Lay all your love on me is" indeed one of their best. I also had Voulez-Vous at no1 just ahead of The Visitors and arrival
Great to have another review from you! I do prefer their later albums. The musical the guys wrote, CHESS, is one of my favorite “ABBA” album. Definitely worth checking out! Their second musical is great too and still has that ABBA sound.
Then you should love the 2 Gemini albums too (Swedish bro/sis duo) who stood in for Agnetha and Frida once it became clear ABBA was a no-go show, but it's hugely proof of where ABBA would have gone next-almost all those songs have the ABBA feel to them, and not surprising as they did write most. Just have to deal with the shock of hearing 2 other people singing them instead of who we'd like, but both are ace singers and utterly inhabit the songs so it doesn't take much to lose yourself in them and soak up the potential and the amazing results there. Only thing to remember is to add 'When I Close My Eyes' to the 1st album to make 10 (silly B&B did their pissy thing and left it off), while the same album era's 'Copy Love' needs moving forward to the 2nd album to remove and fill the truly dreadful yuk song 'Wild About That Woman'. Yes it's as bad as it sounds...and then some!
Well done. But I do have to criticize the fact that you talked about how good "The Album" is without mentioning "The Name of the Game" a single time. Shameful.
I can understand how ABBA fans like to rate all 9 ABBA albums in a favourite list, but I am different. Since 1974 when ABBA entered my life in heart and mind I find EVERY album unique and beautiful and I cannot compare or rank them in any order .Each album is a chronological chapter of their story ,like moving chapters around in a book the story becomes muddled and disjointed, this is only my opinion, so when I listen to my beautiful inspiring ABBA I always begin with Ring Ring and end with Voyage .
Hi I agree with you but personally I think The Album is better than Super Trouper, as a whole. The two albums I have played the most during my life are The Visitors and Voulez Vous, even though they are very different. By the way, I adore As Good As New, as you do. I am very grateful for Voyage and love several songs. It's magical to hear the women's voices again.
1. The Album (1977) 2. Arrival (1976) 3. ABBA (1975) 4. The Visitors(1981) 5. Super Trouper (1980) 6. Voulez- Vous (1979) 7. Waterloo (1974) 8. Voyage (2021) 9. Ring Ring (1973) I love them all, and Voyage will likely rise over time. My favourite new tracks are "Keep An Eye On Dan", "Don't Shut Me Down", "Just A Notion", "When You Danced With Me" and "Bumble Bee"
Love this and boy, aren't you HANDSOME!! Though I love all of ABBA's albums, my favorite is a tie between The Visitors and The Album... both albums I use to introduce ABBA to people who do not know them.
1. The Visitors (the title track is my fave ABBA song ever). 2. Voulez Vous. 3. Arrival 4. The Album 5. Voyage. I love every song on Voyage and I could rank it higher but it's so brand new! Maybe I'll rank it higher in a few years. Haven't listened to the other albums enough to honestly rank them, but some of my favorite songs are scattered on these.
Thanks for the review. I'm kind of agree with your list. I would have loved to see your reaction when you first listened "Don't shut me down". Love your beard. Marry me. =D
Very good list. I would just move Super Trouper to nr 1. And I don't understand why Does your mother know would be questionable lyrics. It is about a man saying no to a girl because she is too young. How could that be questionable?
Does Your Mother Know is NOT a questionable lyric. What are you talking about!? It is about a musician not treating a young fan as a groupie, but not outright rejecting her as a person.
Want to know the kicker here? With perhaps the exception of 2 albums, the rest could appear in any order and still not be controversial. My ranking is different from yours and for other reasons, but with equally persuasive points.
Agreed... Ring Ring and Waterloo are weak, ABBA is good, and the rest are top tier, just in varying degrees depending on personal taste. If someone came to me and said Ring Ring was their favourite ABBA album, I'd definitely be looking at them side-eyed. lol
Great to welcome you to the world of Abba fandom. Ballads, experimental versions and dark lyrics are common in Abba land. I think my top 9 are: No. 9 RIng Ring No. 8 Waterloo No. 7 Abba No. 6 Voulez Vous No. 5 The Album No. 4 Arrival No. 3 Voyage No. 2 Super Trouper No. 1 The Visitors Having said this, I'll probably change my mind tomorrow.
Granted it came out over a year ago...but Cape God by Allie X is worth a listen (All her stuff is actually). Also, The Visitors is like the Frida of all their albums. So Amazing & so underappreciated. Her performance in the Super Trooper & Take A Chance On Me videos is $$$$$.
Interestingly (or rather predictably) "More ABBA Gold" has bigger killers on it, not least 'I Am The City' which was the first time anyone had EVER heard of it! Out of interest, what other artists do you rate in ranking complete works, and do I want to know?! I love the 80s best, but usually people go for the least pleasing. Btw, found it funny how tentatively you apologise for rating "Arrival" album so 'low' but like you say, it IS YOUR filing system.
I mostly agree with your assessment on all of them, though I would switch 1) and 4). For me, "The Album" is the most cohesive ABBA album hence for me it's the best, and I find "Voulez-Vous" a tad inconsistent. However, if we count that undeniable banger "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" and the slightly underrated "Summer Night City", it would've boosted "Voulez-Vous"s status. I'm also with you with ranking "Arrival" a tad lower despite those three huge singles in it ("Dancing Queen", "Money, Money, Money" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You").
I agree with most of your opinions, although I would swap your top two and move Voyage up to number 3 lol. Only thing I don't get is your love of Lay All Your Love on Me but hey, at least it's ABBA. Cheers.
Kind regards It is the first time that I see your page and I was interested in the ranking of the albums ABBA is, along with The Beatles, my favorite and at the same time most influential group in rock and pop music BEATLES were the leaders of the 60s and ABBA of the 70s We all have different tastes, for albums and songs My order for ABBA albums is: #8 Waterloo the Masterpiece that won Eurovision stands out clearly from the rest I like them too Honey honey, Hasta mañana & Dance (while the music still goes on) #7 Ring Ring when they were not yet ABBA it's a very even album My favorites are: Ring Ring, He is your brother, People need love, Disilussion, Love isn't easy, Nina pretty ballerina & Another town Another train #6 The Visitors an album in difficult context due to the separation of Benny and Frida with no biggest hits, my favorite is the most emotional Slipping through my fingers followed by Head over heels, One of us & When all is said and done #5 Voulez Vous ABBA's difficult to record mad album due to the separation of Agnetha and Björn dominacla disco music with As good as new & If it wasn't for the nights as the best exponents But the best song is the masterpiece Chiquitita (ABBA's greatest success in Latin America) #4 Super Trouper two singles stand out the masterpiece heartbroken The winner takes it all and the musical beauty Super Trouper other wonders Happy new year & The way all friends do and the surprise The Piper #3 ABBA perhaps the most underrated album has the best and most important song, the masterpiece: S.O.S. the dynamite single: Mamma Mia the best sweet ballad of love : I've been waiting for you and other brilliant ones: Bang a boomerang, I do I do I do I do I do & So long #2 Arrival ABBA's Pop Music Masterpiece has the biggest hits Dancing queen (the ABBA insignia) My Love my life & Knowing me knowing You (the heartbreaker ballads) Tiger and That's me (two powerful numbers) When I kissed the teacher & Money money money (two great starts aside) #1 The Album the Masterpiece of ABBA versatility impossible to choose only one, each song is different and brilliant, it is even at the highest level The name of the game : is the boldest single Eagle & Move on : the most exotic and complex Hole in your soul : it's bizarre and powerful Take a chance on me : the most happiest Thank you for the music : is the hymn I'm still listening "Voyage" I'm not sure in wich place, but no doubt that is between Top 3 / Top 5 "Voyage" is really great, all songs are good, some of these are amazing and fantastic, like masterpiece "Don't shut me down", or the emotional "I still have faith in you ", or the hymn "Ode to Freedom" "Voyage" in my opinion is better than "The Visitors" or "Voulez Vous"; I'm thinking if "Voyage" is almost like "Super Trouper" or "ABBA" , or better Anyway, no doubt that the two masterpiece album of ABBA are: "Arrival" & "The Album"
I was trying to find the message feature because I would love if you reacted to an album for me. I’ve been watching your videos ALL NIGHT and we have a lot of similar tastes. I’d love if you reacted to Little Hell by City and Colour. I feel you would love all of his output but Little Hell is the perfect starting point. I look forward to your response and hopefully your reaction.
I'd put Voulez Vous in the middle. Lovers Live a little longer baby is atrocious in my view, but you didn't mention one of their best and underrated songs, The King Has Lost His Crown. I admit I underrated Angeleyes also. Thanks for your thoughts!
1 / The Visitors (1981) 2 / Super Trouper (1980) 3 / Arrival (1976) 4 / Voyage (2021) 5 / ABBA (1975) 6 / Voulez-Vous (1979) 7 / The Album (1977) 8 / Waterloo (1974) 9 / Ring Ring (1973) This is my ranking. Same like yours, it not from worst to best, but from good to great. I have a soft spot for ABBA's more mellow and reflective work. "Voyage" and "Arrival" are pretty much interchangeable. I just put "Arrival" at no. 3 because "Voyage" is so new.
Hey there, 👋 I'm old enough to remember being allowed to stay up late to watch eurovision in 1974, and then of course ABBA were ubiquitous for the next six years. It's only in the last year that I have actually bought and listened to their albums however. I'm happy that you put Ring Ring above Waterloo. Waterloo is a general muddle of an album while Ring Ring is like an artifact of the times in which it was recorded, and still a wonderful complete experience if you turn off your 2000's cynicism for half an hour. I also prefer ABBA to Arrival, which also seems a little lost to me. The Visitors is the best complete work that they produced, and if they'd taken the time to write just one more incredible song and put that on there instead of, "two for the price of one", it would be perfect. Voulez Vous a close second, Super Trouper and The Album.
If I refer to the original records without side b, which were added many years ago when their CD was released with the additions of big singles, then in my opinion voulez-vous is really not their best album. I think arrival is their best album.
My list would be... No. 9 Waterloo No. 8 RIng Ring No. 7 Abba No. 6 Voyage No. 5 The Album No. 4 The Visitors No. 3 Arrival No. 2 Voulez Vous No. 1 Super Trouper
here's my ranking: 1)the album. a 9/10, it's their "revolver". 2)the visitors. a 8/10, it's their "abbey road". 3)super trouper. a 7/10. 4)voulez vous. another 7/10. 5)voyage. another 7/10. 6)arrival. a 5/10. sure, it has three of their bigger hits, but the rest is pure filler. 7)abba. a 3/10. at least it has "mamma mia" I guess. 8)waterloo. a 3/10. at least it has "waterloo" I guess. 9)ring ring. a 3/10. at least it has "ring ring" I guess. my recommendation: get "greatest hits" 1 and 2 on vinyl or "abba gold" and "more gold" on cd, to get the singles and hits, then all the albums from "the album" up to "voyage". you can skip the first four albums from "ring ring" up to "arrival". I'm a big fan of them I think they are the second best band ever after The Beatles, but those first four albums are not as good as everything since "the album", they had too much filler. since "the album" most of the songs are good and there's less filler.
What's your favorite ABBA album? :)
Super Trouper
I suppose it would be Visitors. I have the original vinyl even
The Visitors
The Visitors
The Visitors

I think Disillusion is actually the only Abba song written by Agnetha
My love my life has also been written by Agnetha If you look closely on the original vinyl album Arrival
There was also ‘I’m Still Alive’. Although co written by Bjorn and never recorded in a studio, it’s one of my favourites!
Co-written, I think.
Fun fact - Disillusion was actually written by Agnetha. She liked to write songs in her 'pre Abba' years as a successful solo artist.
1. Super Trouper- Best track: Lay All Your Love on Me
2. The Album- Best track: The Name of the Game
3. The Visitors- Best track: The Visitors
4. Voulez-Vous- Best track: If It Wasn't for the Nights
5. Arrival- Best track: Knowing Me, Knowing You
6. ABBA- S.O.S.
7. Voyage- I Still Have Faith in You
8. Waterloo- Honey, Honey
9. Ring Ring- Disillusion
Finally, someone else gets just how brilliant If It Wasn’t For The Nights is
"That's me" is a great track and Arrival needs to be higher. :)
"Lay all your love on me is" indeed one of their best.
I also had Voulez-Vous at no1 just ahead of The Visitors and arrival
What a breath of fresh air these overviews are. Respectful, with an obvious love for the subjects. Hope you keep them coming.
Great to have another review from you! I do prefer their later albums. The musical the guys wrote, CHESS, is one of my favorite “ABBA” album. Definitely worth checking out! Their second musical is great too and still has that ABBA sound.

And I don't understand why Does your mother know would be questionable lyrics. It is about a man saying no to a girl because she is too young. How could that be questionable?
He's still kind of admitting he thinks she's hot, though.
@@graphiquejack I think that's more just making sure she feels not dismissed. Cute and I like your style doesn't have to say I feel attracted to you.
@@graphiquejack He's honest

currently my fav ABBA album is VOYAGE
Kind regards It is the first time that I see your page and I was interested in the ranking of the albums
ABBA is, along with The Beatles, my favorite and at the same time most influential group in rock and pop music
BEATLES were the leaders of the 60s and ABBA of the 70s
We all have different tastes, for albums and songs
My order for ABBA albums is:
#8 Waterloo
the Masterpiece that won Eurovision stands out clearly from the rest
I like them too
Honey honey, Hasta mañana & Dance (while the music still goes on)
#7 Ring Ring
when they were not yet ABBA
it's a very even album My favorites are:
Ring Ring, He is your brother, People need love, Disilussion, Love isn't easy, Nina pretty ballerina & Another town Another train
#6 The Visitors
an album in difficult context due to the separation of Benny and Frida
with no biggest hits, my favorite is the most emotional
Slipping through my fingers
followed by
Head over heels, One of us & When all is said and done
#5 Voulez Vous
ABBA's difficult to record mad album due to the separation of Agnetha and Björn
dominacla disco music with
As good as new & If it wasn't for the nights
as the best exponents
But the best song is the masterpiece
Chiquitita (ABBA's greatest success in Latin America)
#4 Super Trouper
two singles stand out
the masterpiece heartbroken
The winner takes it all
and the musical beauty
Super Trouper
other wonders
Happy new year & The way all friends do
and the surprise
The Piper
#3 ABBA
perhaps the most underrated album
has the best and most important song,
the masterpiece: S.O.S.
the dynamite single: Mamma Mia
the best sweet ballad of love : I've been waiting for you
and other brilliant ones:
Bang a boomerang, I do I do I do I do I do & So long
#2 Arrival
ABBA's Pop Music Masterpiece
has the biggest hits
Dancing queen (the ABBA insignia)
My Love my life & Knowing me knowing You (the heartbreaker ballads)
Tiger and That's me (two powerful numbers)
When I kissed the teacher & Money money money (two great starts aside)
#1 The Album
the Masterpiece of ABBA versatility
impossible to choose only one, each song is different and brilliant, it is even at the highest level
The name of the game : is the boldest single
Eagle & Move on : the most exotic and complex
Hole in your soul : it's bizarre and powerful
Take a chance on me : the most happiest
Thank you for the music : is the hymn
I'm still listening "Voyage"
I'm not sure in wich place, but no doubt that is between Top 3 / Top 5
"Voyage" is really great, all songs are good, some of these are amazing and fantastic, like masterpiece "Don't shut me down", or the emotional "I still have faith in you ", or the hymn "Ode to Freedom"
"Voyage" in my opinion is better than
"The Visitors" or "Voulez Vous";
I'm thinking if "Voyage" is almost like "Super Trouper" or "ABBA" , or better
Anyway, no doubt that the two masterpiece album of ABBA are: "Arrival" & "The Album"

6 / Voulez-Vous (1979)
7 / The Album (1977)
8 / Waterloo (1974)
9 / Ring Ring (1973)
This is my ranking. Same like yours, it not from worst to best, but from good to great. I have a soft spot for ABBA's more mellow and reflective work. "Voyage" and "Arrival" are pretty much interchangeable. I just put "Arrival" at no. 3 because "Voyage" is so new.
1. Visitors, 2. Voyage, 3. The Album, 4. Souper Trouper. Greetings from hamburg
My favourite Album of them is Greatest Hits Vol. 2

love love ABBA... so damn good
I love "Tiger" 😅
And I love "Dum Dum Diddle" :-)
would you consider ranking kate bush's albums or tori's
If I refer to the original records without side b, which were added many years ago when their CD was released with the additions of big singles, then in my opinion voulez-vous is really not their best album. I think arrival is their best album.
The suspense was killing me. Would he really put The Visitors over Voulez Vous?
Nice video as always. But often Its hard to focus on what you are saying because of those eyes and smile. They are just.. wow. Had to say it.
So from your No.1 pick you don't mention the unbelievably awesome Summer Night City, that is not cool
My list would be...
No. 9 Waterloo
No. 8 RIng Ring
No. 7 Abba
No. 6 Voyage
No. 5 The Album
No. 4 The Visitors
No. 3 Arrival
No. 2 Voulez Vous
No. 1 Super Trouper
here's my ranking:
1)the album. a 9/10, it's their "revolver".
I would have put Voyage right behind The Visitors.
Sweety, you are so cute...
Strange choice to be honest.
