I was 18 when this came out. There was only The Jam for me. And then I heard Billy Bragg.

Billy Bragg and Paul Weller are very similar-sounding singer/songwriters - lots of passion, deep introspection and sharp observation. Both faves of mine as well!

Our free press reflects our democracy. Used to love Billy. All gone now. And do you wish you were better informed? Could it be an infringement of the freedom of the press to D notice comment on new and unblinded trials? Get with it Billy. Good grief what a sell out.

Only thing that needs to change :
" When you wake up to the fact
That your paper is Tory" into "When you wake up to the fact
That your paper is either Blairite or Tory "
after 40+ years still painfully factual !! ...

I love Billy Bragg but he and many of his fans have a massive blind spot. But that's not unusual; everyone politically inspired does.

I can't stomach champagne socialist Billy Bragg. I recall when he did a fund raising event for a Blairite pro Iraq war Labour MP at a local Labour club. When a colleague and I picketed the event they tried to get us arrested and a police riot vehicle came out with 10 officers. Fortunately at the time I was a Councillor and chair of the local community safety partnership and knew the officer in charge from our regular meetings. So we had a pleasant chat and then they left and we carried on leafleting.

@@thiscorrosion900 you don't know what you're talking about. Educate yourself, you've fallen for click bait "journalism" it's not hard to find out the facts and Morrissey successfully sued the NME years ago for editing an interview to make him look racist. NME were forced to print an apology. You are ignorant and spreading lies and hated.

@@oscillatewildly6553 You bloody idiot, you've challenged an actual educated, published fucking writer! And expert researcher, but you don't need to be to find the ready evidence online about Morrissey. Also, you cannot sue the fucking NME for actual statements YOU made under no coercion, and that weren't made up by them, or altered to suit something they published to alter or twist your words around, then maybe you'd have a libel or slander legal case, but he didn't. Morrissey has made these comments within the past two years or so, not just years ago, though he's apparently done both. The following is from The Independent--read on. I know my communications law, you fool, and I know full fucking well what Morrissey has said, having been following the entire story carefully the past four years or so:
